My friend and I stayed with Nilda and her family for two nights. The highlight of this experience was Nilda herself, a sweet woman with a powerful love for the world that she imparts to all that come her way. She cooked us meals of local fare, with much of it grown near her home. When a group of high...

La Paloma Guest House is well worth staying in. It is true that it's off the beaten track, but it's a rare opportunity to stay in the Puerto Rican countryside away from the majority of the tourism infrastructure. In addition, "off the beaten path" still means only half-an-hour from El Yunque and 45 minutes from San Juan. Nilda was a...

We are two couples from Illinois and we were so lucky to be able to stay with Nilda and her family. Nilda is an exceptionally warm person that is happy to meet new people and to share her piece of paradise. She cooked us a wonderful dinner of fresh fish, and salads. I never thought I would like octopus! We...

We visited Nilda Arocho and her family Oct. 2014 and had a wonderful evening. She cooked us a delightful dinner that had fresh caught conch, lobster, and octopus. Breakfast was included with the price of our room. The swimming pool was an extra perk. The views of the eastern shores, including Monkey Island were great. Nilda is a beautiful person...

I found La Paloma Guest House on Trip Advisor. I had never used it before, but I read the reviews, asked a couple of the reviewers questions, which were promptly answered, and found this wonderful little place in the rain forest. When I first spoke to Nilda on the phone, she said,"You know, this is not a five star hotel"...

My girlfriend and I stayed here for two night, and it was really one of the best parts about Puerto Rico. The lady who runs this, Nilda, is one of the nicest people I've ever met. She will bend over backwards to make you happy, and cooks an amazing breakfast for you. The area she lives in is really beautiful,...

When you walk in, Nilda will tell you (as she's hugging you), "This is not a 3-star resort!" And, she's right. Our room was very basic, the bed was lumpy, and there was NO hot water in the shower (this was a major bummer after hiking in the rain all day). We were in this wierd little room in her...

We booked last minute for our last night in PR, we felt so lucky to find this place! Nilda and her family are so welcoming, showing us a bit of Taino culture and giving us tips on where to go in El Yunque. We wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy the hospitality, the view, swim in the pool...

We chose Nilda's guesthouse for two nights near El Yunque based on the glowing reviews she's received. We made reservations over a month in advance, confirmed them by phone before leaving home, and then called her again from another part of the island the day before we were to arrive. During the last call she asked us to phone when...

If you are looking for a luxury resort or hotel, look elsewhere. Nilda opened up her home and this was like staying in a home with your own separate private area with your own swimming pool with an amazing view. We were having a little trouble finding the place and Nilda sent her daughter to a gas station near by...
