Reviews summary

Powered by AI
Hyatt Place San Juan offers an inviting atmosphere with a comfortable yet lively common area and tranquil rooms, striking a balance that guests enjoy. While the hotel's location is praised for convenience and walkability, opinions on value are split due to unexpected fees and room issues. Amenities like the shuttle service and pool are popular, though some find them lacking.
Cleanliness generally receives commendation, but there are notes of inconsistency. Service experiences vary, with both accolades for attentiveness and critiques for unresponsive moments.

Detailed Reviews
I was very pleased with my stay here. The lady who booked my room and checked me in was so wonderful, she was able to help me save $20. She had a lovely demeanor and made the whole process painless. The bartender who worked there was also wonderful. He was pretty busy since he was the only one working but he was on top of things and made sure i wasn’t forgotten. I also liked that after he made my drink he made sure i liked it and said he can make changes if i wanted. He makes a perfect margarita! Plus you’re so close to great restaurants, old san juan, and the beaches. It’s in a great location.

Stay at this hotel if you want some of the best service in San Juan, Puerto Rico! Free Shuttle to the Convention Center, the Beach, and to Old San Juan & the shuttle runs like clock work every 30 minutes too!!!! You can't beat that! Just to know that you will have transportation to and from the hot spots of San Juan during the day hours should already be a reason to stay at the Hyatt Place. I'm not even going to front on the breakfast. It was banging! They have a food bar that serves Scrambled or Boiled Eggs, Skillet Potatoes or Hashbrowns (one or the other), Burritos, Fresh Fruit, Cereal, Toast, Bagels, Yogurt, Granola, Cold Water, Orange Juice, Apple Juice, and about 4 different kinds of milk for those with allergies daily. They mix up the main breads like French Toast, Pancakes, and Waffles by the day. A full meal in my books! And you can visit the food bar and make as many plates as you want. This is coming from someone that has a very fast metabolism! The seating area is nice. You can sit inside or outside to eat. There is a separate pool area for the kiddos and a nice workout area too if you'd like to stay in shape on your stay! The rooms are nice. Some of the views are much better than others. The curtains came all the way down by the windows so no light could enter for those later risers like myself. There were two staff members that were extra helpful during my stay. Rosalyn from the front desk helped me on my 3rd day at the Hyatt Place! She basically cleaned up the mess that one of her other co-workers left behind. She was able to find me a room with spectacular views and stuck in there with me until the issue was COMPLETELY solved. She was very calm and helpful which made me feel at ease throughout it all! The gentleman that wore a ponytail in the food department, I think his name was Francisco, was exceptionally one of the nicest, friendliest, hardworking, multi-tasking people I've ever met! On some of days I came to breakfast, he was running the breakfast bar, cleaning tables, and working the bar all while tentatively catering to everyone one by one. I don't know how he did it, but he made sure everyone got the attention they deserved!!! The Hyatt Place Is Very Lucky To Have Him. I wish he ran the breakfast at every hotel I stayed at.
I don't think I will ever get the kind of service like I did during my stay from Rosalyn or Francisco at any other hotel!!! They both deserve all the accolades and some!

This place is a great place to stay, the staff is friendly and the breakfast is delicious. Clean Rooms and overall clean hotel. The location is within walking distance of a few great spots to eat and fun strip to walk and enjoy the environment. I would recommend staying here 10 out of 10 times and the price is very affordable.

Upon our arrival in the front desk we noticed that the lady in the front desk was a little bit rude and aloof. It seems like she is not enjoying her job. One more thing they don’t know how to recommend. The guy from the bar is way much better coz when we ask for recommendation on restaurants he immediately went to get a paper and wrote the name of the restaurant and direct us the way to get there. Breakfast was great but only few options. The room was a little bit smelly! And my goodness the shower glass was so dirty 😕😓. 2nd day housekeeping came but did not even sweep, they just came to take the garbage and put new towels. We expected more service from what we had paid. Anyways, hotel provide shuttle which was great. Hopefully the front desks people will get customer service training. The staffs in the bar and market are way better than them.

My wife and I went to San Juan for fun (3 days) and then I had a business meeting (4 days). The room was nice and the hotel was in a good location. The hotel shuttle to Old San Juan and the beach were great and timely. The breakfast was wonderful. They also had a coffee shop with great muffins, rolls and cookies. I met with three colleagues to plan our project and to host workshops. Hyatt Place was quick to respond to our request for a meeting space for our workshop (they actually set us up at the Hyatt House across the street). The room they provided was great, the technology worked well (no wifi problems) and the snacks and meal they provided were great. The pool was lovely and well maintained. The room was spacious and the thermostat worked well. The staff on the floors were quite helpful. The front desk was slow to respond to our requests for simple things like a hair dryer (which was already supposed to be in the room) and enough towels and washcloths.

Very disappointing experience with this hotel. I chose to stay at the Hyatt Place over another hotel in San Juan as the reviews were not so good and reviews for this hotel were amazing and it was closer to Old San Juan and the cruise terminal. The check-in process was a bit longer to what we are used to, which is understandable if the hotel is full. We booked a king room with bay view, however, when we got in the room it had a very uncomfortable smell. I did not sleep for over 30 hours at this point so didn't want to make a fuzz out of it, but the smell got worse overnight. Also, the AC unit was placed right in front of the bed and it was crazy noisy that we barely slept at night.
We went for a quick drink and dinner out and when we went back I asked the reception if it was possible to get a late checkout (so I could rest a bit more)...all it was was just one hour more. But I have been told that I have to check back with them in the morning....well if I ask in the evening, the whole point is to get some more sleep....tried asking again in the morning when coming for breakfast, but been told they had only a few spots available and they have been already allocated.....really?? Was I supposed to get up at 6 am to ask for a late checkout to get more sleep? The breakfast was a plus and another reason why we decided to stay here, but when we came down for breakfast we thought we were in a ZOO, terrible. Food was somehow good, but the level of noise, dirt, and amount of people was extremely unpleasant.
Some people completely lost their dignity....why do you think you are at your house when you're staying at a hotel? We don't need to see you in your pajamas!! Grownup woman and man?? I couldn't believe it.

I would not recommend this hotel if you are planning to have intensive visit to the old san juan area because the hotel is quite far away from the area. Although they provide a shuttle service to the beach and old san juan, the schedule of the shuttle is not fixed and trackable. Most of the times, you’ll have to wait for more than 20 minutes for the shuttle. Furthermore, I found a cup of drink that does not belong to me during my stay, and many furniture was impaired, including the telephone, the land lamp, and the locker of the room door. The service I received did not correspond to the price of the hotel and failed to reach my expectations of a Hyatt hotel.

I had reserved a room at the Hyatt Place for a family event since July to ensure we had a place near entertainment and walking distance to activities but more importantly a pool that would be fun and appropriate for a small child. Upon checking in we were not informed about the pool being closed for repairs. It wasn't until the next day in the morning that we saw the pool completely empty. I requested to speak with a supervisor and have not received any communications. If you have small children and you're staying here be mindful the pool is closed and it would be better to cancel and stay at another hotel with a working pool.

Room was dirty, and we had to request room to be serviced every day until finally on the 5th day, the Housekeeping Manager intervened personally, and the room was cleaned properly (and sheets changed). The a/c was very loud, the cabinetry in the room battered (two cabinet doors falling off hinges), the Chromecast didn’t work (even after Engineering ‘rectified’ it), but this was probably due to unreliable and weak wifi. The included breakfast: the quality was so poor that we went twice in 7 days, and incurred extra expense for the other 5. In 40 years of travel over 5 continents and to over 60 countries, this experience stands out as the most disappointing, given the Hyatt brand.

The service has been absolutely ridiculously bad.
We got there, booked the room for 3 people, sofa bed for our son wasn't made. So I went down to reception to ask if it could be made and when we came back there was just a folded sheet put on top the bed (we already converted the sofa to the bed), so I made the bed myself.
Next day, we go out for the day, come back, sofa bed hasn't been made.
Day three we go out, come back, sofa bed is converted to a sofa again, inside, an unmade bed...
Next day we come back, sofa bed has not been made (still a bed), no waters, no clean towels, trash hasn't been emptied and our pillows are still how we left them. I went to reception to ask about this. An email would be send to the supervisor of housekeeping and the supervisor of reception.
Today, we get back to our room, nothing has been done... The trolley is already gone, so I go to reception and ask if they could please clean our room. We go for a swim, we get back, the trolley is back, all the rooms around our room are being cleaned. We go out to eat, return, nothing has been done...
I go to reception to ask if I can file a formal complaint. He goes to get the supervisor of housekeeping. She's already left. I can talk to her tomorrow between 9 and 10. So now we're making the bed, going down to get necessities, can't throw away any more trash and have to hope we don't run out of toilet paper and to top it of, we get to plan our day around their schedule....

We took an uber from airport to hotel. Half price verses taxi.
If you are staying in the city, it is probably not worth renting a car. In Old San Juan, everything is walk-able, and parking is very difficult. Anywhere, taxis and Uber are really inexpensive and readily available. If you are going out in the country, then you'll need one.
We used a cab because we had 6 people plus 6 big bags and a couple carry on's . Our cab was $20 plus a tip
So I had asked this question.... and I can tell you all the answer. Obviously people that answered, didn’t know.... just guessed. Uber’s only fit up to 6 people. So we would of had to take 2 Uber’s. So we took a taxi van and they charged us $3 a person plus $1 /bag.
It varies from time to time but at least when I stayed there were plenty of items: pancakes, toast, french toast, assorted cereal, oatmeal, cottage cheese, hard-boiled and scrambled eggs, fresh fruit, bacon ,sausage, ham, coffee, water, milk, hot cocoa, and juice
