This was my 15th trip to Puerto Rico and my third time staying at Coqui Del Mar. I can honestly say, I'm in love with this place! I feel like it's now my second home. It's right on the edge of Ocean Park, tucked into the locals' neighborhood that is between the two big tourist hotel areas (Isla Verde and...

Une, Dos, Tres....Glad to see that you enjoyed your stay as much as we enjoyed reading your review! And we promise to have more ice trays to keep up with that "Cup Of Life", the Pina Coladas, for your next visit. A la proxima vez! - Rob

This hotel was a stop along our trip around/across Puerto Rico. We stayed here for two nights, drove around the island for three and stayed another three nights. There are a few suites but we staff in la conche. It was a cute, small suite with a queen bed (a little hard for our liking), a kitchen and tiny bathroom....

Tammy and Pete, Thank you for such a detailed review. Glad to see that you were able to experience so many of the same things I enjoy...Inca Chicken, Levi's Restaurant, and the La Mina water fall. And thank you for sharing your pictures! We hope to host you again on a future trip. Sincerely, Rob

My husband and I loved this place. It is in a perfect location! We were close to the beach, Old San Juan, and the airport. We stayed in El Mango which is small but very cozy and well equiped! We had everything we needed. The owners were so helpful and nice. The only bad things were that we could only...

We absolutely love this place! We stayed there 2 years ago, and we didn't hesitate to stay there again. It was more than sufficient on our first visit, but they have made a lot of really fun improvements! There's now a fountain in the side patio that makes it sound like you have a small private waterfall right outside. Both...

Mark, Thank you for taking the time to leave such a detailed review. I'm glad to hear that you noticed our continued improvements and that you had the opportunity to enjoy the new steam shower of the El Sol unit. We agree that the flexibility of the unit makes it ideal for friends and family get-togethers. We look forward to...

I stayed at Coqui del Mar for a five-day mini-vacation over MLK Day weekend. The place is terribly cute -- it's homey, quaint and quite cozy. The on-site managers are helpful and obviously enjoy meeting new people. I was a little nervous staying at a B&B guest house -- I had images of communal living and unwanted social interactions. At...

With two boys (a 3-year-old and a 10-month-old), we wanted a place that had easy access to the beach, full kitchen to prepare meals, and living/dining area so we weren't stuck in our rooms. Coqui del Mar had all of this, and more (we were in the El Sol suite). The owner and the caretakers were fabulous, very helpful in...

This place is definitely a vacation rental/condo type property as opposed to a hotel/B&B/inn. If you plan to stay here book well in advance to ensure your choice of rooms, especially for high season. We had the El Mango room (it was the only option available for our entire stay), for one week. This is the smallest and least expensive...

Thank you for leaving us a review. Our El Mango is the smallest and most economical of all of our units, and we hope that you will have the opportunity to stay in one of our larger and more spacious rooms. Its great to hear that you also explored outside of San Juan, as there is so much more of...

Noyda and Neal were very helpful with suggestions and directions, and made our first couple of days in PR enjoyable and memorable. The apartment was spotless and atttractive and very well laid-out, with a well-stocked kitchen, TV, and internet. It was great to be just 1 block from the ocean, though I wouldn't swim there. The gated community can be...

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review for us and glad to hear you enjoyed your stay with us and the hospitality of Neal and Noyda, our on site managers. We stayed in the Mango room, the most economical of their choices. The room was small but provided everything we needed for comfort. Neal was very helpful – when we arrived he showed us around, told us where the nearest supermarket is (the B&B provides water & coffee, but no breakfast). The B&B is a couple blocks away from the...

Coqui del Mar is a romantic hideaway, perfect for the traveler hoping to avoid the cookie-cutter experience that the many generic San Juan resorts can provide. My husband and I waited an entire year after our marriage to take our honeymoon, and we wanted nothing more than to seek out an adventure on our own terms-- not those belonging to...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
If you want to experience Puerto Rico like a local while still having all the conveniences of home, this is your place. We make you feel at home. You have private personal space (all rooms have private kitchens and private bathrooms), while in a beach side neighborhood setting away from the crowded tourist areas. You will experience some of the best Puerto Rico has to offer while living like a local, visiting the restaurants frequently visited by locals (no chain restaurants near us). We are in the Ocean Park beach area of San Juan, in between Old San Juan and the international airport. We are 3 minutes walk to the nearest beach. Ocean Park beach is one of the locals's favoites, and also a preferred spot for kite surfing and windsurfers. We are 5 minutes walk to the tourist bus route (which goes to the casinos and to Old San Juan) and walkable to restaurants and grocery stores. Each of our units have full kitchen, free WiFi, cable TV/DVD, Apple TV, in room safes, and an Ipod player. We strive to provide more than expected, and I think you will find that with us, from the beach chairs, or bicycles to the in room safes, there are never extra charges. One of the best things about us is our live in management, Noyda and Neal, who call Coqui del Mar home and welcome you as if it is your home as well. They are local experts and can help you find a great restaurant, plan a special event, or enjoy a chat. Our courtyard, bar-b-que and jacuzzi are great for meeting other guests. If you are looking for personal service and a unique, eco-friendly (we have solar hot water supplemented by electric, ceiling fans supplemented by ACs, and offer recycling), and a clean guest house for a reasonable price, then check us out. We are not a Marriott and offer our own unique sense of quirky and intimate Puerto Rico. Come join us. *Our free parking is on a public street in front of our location. Not difficult to find a spot, but it is not designated parking for our guest house and is open to all. * Airport transportation acknowledges that there is taxi service from the airport. **Free parking is on street parking ... more   less
