Nice boutique hotel. Stayed one night between cruise and flight home. Front desk staff were super friendly and helpful. Hotel room was larger than most hotel rooms and bathroom was nice. The bed could be a little more comfy but for one night was okay. Location was good and with Uber was less then $10 to get to Old San Juan or cruise terminal, to the airport was around $15.
Rooftop terrace was an added bonus. We didn't know about it until we read a review about it. Should definitely promote this more! The pool area was nice and can see the ocean from there. Overall was a nice stay and would stay there again !

Stayed with wife for a meeting at the Puerto Rico Convention Center. Chose it because you can walk to the convention center and there is a parking lot across the street from the hotel where the hotel has a number of reserved slots for hotel guests. The price for overnight parking is reasonable compared to the prices in the area and there is a gate operated by the hotel. There are a number of good restaurants within walking distance and the neighborhood seemed safe. It was clean and the price was also reasonable for the area.

When I saw the pictures I thought this was going to be a really nice place. It is not. It is rather rundown. Rooms smell musty, shower doesn't drain and the hot water runs out fast.,Nothing special except roof top deck with a nice view. The people at the front desk are not friendly. You get charged a damage deposit hold and a resort fee. Resort???? No pool nada. What is the resort fee for?? The tiny gym?

Overall, not great. First I'm pretty sure I got bit by bed bugs at this hotel. That's the main reason I'm writing this review. I could have got them at a nicer hotel I stayed at before this, but I really doubt it. If you stay here absolutely do not put your luggage on the bed.

The mattress was rock hard with no give at all. The room they put us into didn't have wifi unless you stood right next to the door. Shower didn't drain quickly. When I closed the blackout curtains they smelled moldy.

Not sure what is meant by free breakfast because I was in and out between 6 and 10 am and didn't even see a bakery spread. Was not mentioned to me at check in either, although the ladies who helped me at the front desk were always nice.

Exercise room was broken. The rooftop was pretty cool but it was really just a bunch of chairs and a BYOB situation.

The only thing about these reviews that I fundamentally disagree with is the parking. I didn't think the immediate neighborhood felt unsafe and we found free street parking within 1 block of the hotel easily. The women at the front desk even helped show us where we should look for free parking which was very nice considering the hotel owns their own lot for $15 a night.

I also liked the neighborhood and it had a lot of bars and restaurants that we liked. I think maybe this neighborhood is ""up and coming"" so reviews from even a couple years ago may not have trustworthy feedback on the environs.

This is a cute boutique hotel; clean.
I don’t recommend it, especially if you plan to get there at night and are a woman traveling alone:
1. Their parking is not available until you check in, but you can’t find parking anywhere in the neighborhood (which is not a safe area). The cost is $15.00 and it’s two streets across from the hotel and the receptionist has to open the gate from where she, is while looking through the window. I had to call twice (when I got there and left) to ask them to open the gate so I could get out. The parking area is big, feels unsafe, and has no light at night; I had to use my phone’s flashlight. Also, the numbers are not in chronological order, but you must park in the number assigned by the receptionist. In my case, although the lot wasn’t full, she gave me the last number at the far end, but didn’t tell me. It was incredibly frustrating!!!
2. You are charged a $100.00 deposit, which according to the receptionist, I quote her: it is for in case you damage the room. Getting reimbursed can take 5 to 7 days.
3. The mattress was extremely hard.
4. There is a lot of street noise.

I will definitely never stay there again.

Liked - The roof terrace was great, we enjoyed it and saw the new year fireworks. The room service was great and came daily to clean, in this time you appreciate it. The room was spacious and had a refrigerator & microwave. You have only aboput 15 minutes walk to the beaches like Playita del Condado or Balneario del Escambrón. There are some restaraunts in the area and a good supermarket Pueblo. The hotel has not enough parking spaces, but you'd definitely find a place on the street nearby. The Miramar neighborhood was quiet.

Disliked · As we entered the room we liked the room and couldn't complain. On the next day we started to realise that the carpet floor was copletely wet, as a reason all of our personal belongings and bed sheets were extremely humid. We asked the reception to solve it, they came and sproaded some powder on the floor, which didn't help. We think it has to do with condensation, as the rooms are being cooled constantly and the weather outside is warm. No teapot in the room, but a champangere yes. Dirty windows. The closet is in the bathroom, so you can just imagine what your clothes are getting if someone takes a shower etc. We had a view on the senior residence and directly to the neighbor window in that one grandmother laid on the verge, pretty hard and painful. You couldn't open the windows for an air circulation, which was needed because of the wet floor etc. Sometimes we had no hot water in the shower, sure after ca. 10 pm. Stupid sockets in the room and the bathroom. Slow wi-fi. The 100$ deposit was returned after a week.

Had a very enjoyable overnight stay at this very charming hotel while visiting San Juan ahead of a cruise. The hotel is well situated, with an array of nice restaurants and small supermarkets nearby (ideal for picking up bottles of wine or any last minute or forgotten supplies) and is only a short (6 min / $5) Uber from the Cruise Terminal. The staff are as warm and friendly as they are helpful and accommodating. Our flight got in much earlier than expected and we arrived considerably ahead of the check-in time - we had hoped to have the hotel just stow our baggage while we ran a quick errand but they were happy to check our room was ready and allow us to use it. The room was very clean, well maintained, light, spacious and well appointed , with a sofa, armchair, king bed, table, two chairs. There was plenty of space for luggage, lots of mirrors (great for getting ready without getting in each other's way), a small safe, microwave and a fridge that chilled wine remarkably quickly (which greatly impressed my wife). We had a high floor that offered some lovely ocean views. There was a choice of pillows and we enjoyed a very comfortable night's sleep . I can't imagine a nicer stay and would look forward to staying at the hotel again if visiting San Juan.

I don't usually stay in " boutique" hotels, but rooms were really tight in San Juan at this time. I requested a quiet room , high floor ...was given a groud floor room facing a generator. Blinds didnt cover the window sufiiciently. Ok, SJ was pretty well booked. Then encountered roaches... Staff offered no apology at all ,and wouldn't let me switch rooms. Really a nightmare.

Response from Cristina Carradero, Other at Hotel Miramar
Responded 30 June 2022
Hello Tim, Thank you for sharing your feedback with us and for letting us address your concerns. First, we would like to emphasize that a clean hotel is our top priority and our Housekeeping staff works hard to stay on top of it. The encounter you mentioned in your room is very rare, and we apologize for the inconvenience. Regarding your requests... Even though our Front Desk Agents are very attentive and try to make guests' requests come true, we would like to clarify that requests are always subject to availability at the time of check in. This means that if higher floors were not available at the time of your arrival, the hotel can't fulfill that request. However, the staff tried to accommodate your request for a quiet room, and we are saddened to know that you were not happy with it because of the view. It is important to remember that you booked a Standard Superior Room, which does not guarantee any type of view. If an upgrade to a Front/Ocean View was desired during your stay, it could have been arranged for a small fee and, as always, upon availability. Nevertheless, we hope that you enjoyed your visit to San Juan and we truly hope you give boutique hotels the second chance they deserve. Kind regards, Cristina C. Digital and Guest Experience

Booked hotel for 69th birthday gift to self and was totally disappointed with the quality of the hotel! Located in difficult area to get to; requiring clerks to need to direct you there after driving around for an hour trying to navigate the way there. Very old building with poorly designed rooms and terrible views overlooking delapidated surrounding structures and buildings . Charged $13 per day to park across the street where the desk clerks had to let you in/out of gate with a remote that they controlled while guests had to cross a busy street to get to their car. No coffee, no breakfast, no bar, no pool! Very inconvenient!! Worst place I ever spent good money on!!! Do not stay at this hotel!!!

Jacob was such an amazing clerk. For some reason, all of 3 rooms had key issues and instead of Jacob continuing to have us come back downstairs for a new key, he decided to take the stairs and meet us at our rooms with new keys to try again just in case the second set weren't working. His level of hospitality was exactly what we needed. Because of his customer service, we will be back soon.

The rooftop experience is the absolute best scenery to relax, take pics and unwind. When we finally were able to go up there, we never wanted to come down. It's simply breathtaking up there.

The location was so ideal to great restaurants and the grocery store within walking distance. The only thing I would have preferred is that the hotel didn't have a one way street because when you first come to the hotel to check in, you're not aware and you park beside the hotel in the alley way. After check-in, you realize that you need to back up (if no cars are coming) all the way to the open parking lot.

I suggest that plumbing be looked into as my tub filled up with water as I showered. The only way for it not to happen, I had to wet myself and lather my washcloth then turn the shower off, bathe, then turn it back on to rinse off in order for the tub not to fill up.

The color scheme of the rooms is so calming and bright. Loved the space of the bathroom and the room itself. It made me want to stay in the room all day.

All of the housekeeping staff were friendly and helpful. I would prefer that all housekeepers be bilingual as everyone does not speak spanish and it make it hard to relay information.

Hello!!! I loved the hotel! Just called the hotel 787-977-1000 and talked to Angel at reception and he said yes!! When making the reservation most likely they will have a space for you to tell them more or less the time also and this helps them. The hotel has a restaurant for breakfast and great coffee!! Check out my reviews by following me because I live in Puerto Rico and also travel a lot helping others have a great experience too! Have fun in Puerto Rico! I lived in Vieques island for 5 years and loved it there... a must for the Bioluminiscent Bay... glows in the dark! #planforamiracle #lawofattractionphotos

Hello! Our hotel is located close to several cruise ports. We do not offer transportation. However, we recommend using Uber, since the cruise ports are only 5 to 8 minutes away in a car.

I am renting a car and need to know about the parking. Is there parking on site?
San Juan, Puerto Rico12,346 contributions843 helpful votes
Hello, the hotel has valet parking for a daily fee or you may also park on the streets nearby. The hotel is very close to a school called Academia del Perpetuo Socorro so streets may have more space at night. There is also a big Supermarket called Pueblo which has parking that might be a little less expensive than the hotel... walking distance about 5-7minutes. Enjoy your stay!!!

Hello Lymarie, We do lend beach towels to our guests. We do not have a pool in the hotel. However, there are a few beaches at a very reasonable walking distance (Closest one is 5 minutes away, a few other 10-15 minutes).
