The San Juan Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino offers a mixed bag of experiences, with its prime location earning high marks from guests for beach access and nearby attractions. While the friendly staff is often lauded, some visitors have experienced frustrating service delays. Opinions on the hotel's atmosphere are split; vibrant music and active areas please many, but noise intrusions can detract from the ambiance.
Room opinions vary, with commendations for scenic views and modern renovations, counterbalanced by cleanliness and noise concerns. Although the hotel's cleanliness and amenities are generally appreciated, there are calls for updates and more responsive housekeeping.

Returned to the Beautiful San Juan Marriott Resort and Stellaris Casino after almost 3 years and found it to be as fine and inviting as it's ever been. The former La Vista (now Gingambo) restaurant was under construction which was a concern when I booked but I was assured by my Casino Host, Vanessa Banuelos that all Food and Beverage services would be available. Vanessa also booked my room, which I received an upgrade to a small but beautiful Ocean Front location on a high floor as requested. Vanessa was very friendly and helpful and available as a charming Host during my stay.
There was a lovely Buffet Breakfast served in both the Red Coral Lounge and in an area back by the Concierge Desk. Although the Buffet Breakfast price was higher than I remembered ($ 40.00 + Tax & Tip), it was as fresh and provided a refreshing variety of choices. Dinner was available in the Banquet Room across from the original restaurant and alhough the Food was excellent, the ambience was missing in that location.
Even though most of the Staff I had grown to know over the years were no longer there, the current Staff were friendly, helpful and provided excellent service. Christina, Abner and Jesniel at the Front Desk were friendly and always helpful. Brian and Maria, my Favorite Bartenders in the Caribar were always inviting and charming and made me want to visit the bar more often as I'm even a light drinker. This Lobby Bar was active and full of interesting people to chat with and the music on the Weekend even in the off-season was exceptional.
Stephanie, Paula, Jean, Cecelia, Oscar on the omelet station and expeciallly Jael of the Gingambo Breakfast and Dinner Staff provided excellent service and were friendly and welcoming for me especially being a Single traveler.
I should also mention that the Stellaris Casino was recently renovated and improvements were very noticeable including some new slot machines and an improved envionment. Vanessa and Arnaldo provided excellent service and the machines proved to be fruitful in my case.
Only negative I would mention are that the Oceanfront Room (1010) was small but the lovely Oceanfront view made up for it. I had been assigned this room type before and found the bathroom to be very small, but I think the recent room renovations showed some improvements. Also, I only found the luggage rack towards the end of my stay, which was in a small shelf under the hangar closet and was squeezed too tight - it could not be pulled out of the shelf.
Overall, I would rate this Property as Outstanding and as nice as I remembered, the Beach and Pool accessible, lovely and relaxing. I would highly recommend this Resort as one of the best on the island and can say after staying at multiple Caribbean properties, that it definitely exceeds the Marriott standards.

We stayed at this location for 4 nights/ 5 days. The rooms are nicely decorated and roomy for suitcases; however, the beds are full-size, not queens. The staff was friendly and provided good service, especially when cleaning the rooms and delivering items to the room. While sitting at the bar, I noticed that the bald bartender (didn't catch his name) directed his attention to a man who flashed a stack of money and was buying drinks for his group of ladies. He ignored the other patrons sitting at the bar until he had serviced the "rich" man. I guess his tip received from the "rich" man would be more than the other patrons collectively. At least, I hope it was. The casino was fun, but the hotel won my money. :). At least, the free cocktails and food soften the blow of losing my money. The pool is very shallow with the pool bar. I was disappointed because I thought this was the "adult" pool and the water level would be 4 or 5 feet at least. The pool was about 2 feet deep! The bartenders at the pool bar were friendly and attentive. They serve really good drinks if you're friendly with them. :) The beach was fantastic and clean. The sea was somewhat lukewarm and full of waves. We were warned to be mindful of the dangerous riptides that have drowned people in the past. The hotel is within the vicinity of nearby restaurants that offer better meals than the mediocre food at the hotel. Overall, we enjoyed our stay but will probably check out the Sheraton hotel on the next visit to San Juan.

We went as a group of 8 on a family/couples trip. We stayed 6 wonderful nights. My negatives first: 1) Upon checking out, we were double-charged on the resort fees and taxes. I brought this to their attention and they were quick to fix the problem. 2) During two of the nights, some of the ice from the ice machine on the 18th floor appeared to have particles in it. The last two nights, I did not notice this again. 3) While the hotel did honor our request for a higher floor and did give us a partial ocean view room for free, we undoubtedly had a room with the smallest bathroom floor plan. I saw other bathrooms and they were much more spacious. There is only one hook in the bathroom and really not a lot of room to move around. The positives: EVERYTHING ELSE. The location is great. There are so many little shops and restaurants to walk to and this hotel is on the beach. The pools are wonderful; there is a great swim-up bar and the water temp is great. And the slide was fun! The beach is a little rough and you need to be careful but the water temp here is also great and I didn't notice seashells or pebbles; and very little seaweed. We had beach and pool time every single day and enjoyed every moment. The employees are friendly and helpful. There were some nice touches like handing out free coffee and free pina colada shots outside of one of the restaurants. I was impressed (and relieved) that there weren't any bugs anywhere inside the hotel but even more impressed that I didn't see a roach anywhere on the property (and only two in all of Puerto Rico). The elevators never took long and the property has plenty of amenities but is still compact enough to where it's easy to move around and easy to get back to your room quickly if you forget something (unlike a Vegas resort, for example). Regarding the room: wonderful air conditioning, fantastic water pressure in the shower. There was a great view from the balcony (half city view and half ocean). The mini fridges were convenient. We had a few meals here and they were all very good. We even had a free breakfast one day and lounge access all week; I guess for being Marriott members. We all had a great time and we made the right decision with this hotel. We would love to go back to Puerto Rico and would definitely stay at Stellaris again!

So it's a mess of so many problems. Check in was easy. We got to our 'suite' which started the mess. Turns out they have a very limited number of 'suites', i.e. a separate bedroom from the tv / entry area, so what they advertise as a suite is just a larger than a standard room. Also, very few rooms have a direct ocean view, so they consider any slice of a view of the water as an "ocean view". It's really false advertising. Within the room, there's minimal overhead lighting. One side of the bed has no outlets, so it's annoying for two people to charge their phones overnight. Downstairs, they offer multiple 'restaurants', but each has a very small footprint with highly overpriced bland food, i.e. no brand-name restaurants on property like the other local hotels offer. So please just walk down the street (or get a ubiquitous uber) for meals. Grocery stores are nearby as well. The only exception (and the reason they get two instead of one star) is breakfast. Really nice spread of options, all included for gold and above level members. The gym is very strange, as it seems to be open to memberships so it was full of bodybuilders that are intimidating to weekend warrior hotel guests. The spa is very small, limited rooms with some cleanliness issues, and limited treatment options. You pay some exorbitant 'resort' fee of $65 per day for internet (you should get for free) and to play tennis for an hour, though no one seemed to be playing. Towels are locked up because they don't trust you (and I guess $65 per day per room isn't enough to replace lost towels). Bottom line, not in a 1000 years would I ever think of returning here if it was a stateside hotel. Even if I was headed back to PR, I'd think of avoiding marriott just to never set foot in this hotel again.

One of Marriott's more tired-looking resorts. The property has made evident improvements to the individual rooms which to my understanding have all been renovated. The balconies are still a bit drab (gray and concrete, you feel more like you're in Queens than on an island in the Caribbean). The lobby and pool area need a definite facelift compared to other, trendier hotels in Condado. Swim-up bar is a nice perk, but needs retiling. The positives are that there is beach access and the hotel does provide beachside food and drink service. The location in Condado is convenient for walking to other restaurants and bars in the area. There was one day where housekeeping did not have our rooms clean until almost 5pm. For slightly more money, there are better properties in San Juan.

We booked this hotel as we were joining other friends there for 3 nights pre cruise. The room was spectacular - a corner on the 8th floor facing the beach in one direction & the pool in another. It had been recently refurbished to a high standard & had everything you could need, including a safe. The food & drink was very good, although very expensive. I can recommend a lovely Turkish restaurant literally opposite the hotel!! The staff were very helpful, the beach was spotless & there was 24 hour security on the beach access. The sting in the tail was $65 per night Resort tax, to cover beach towels, chairs & a range of additional items we neither used or wanted. On balance, I think there were other hotels facing the same beach, which could have better suited our needs & would have been better value for money. I think there may be other hotels facing the same beach which could have better suited our needs

We had a fantastic time at the San Juan Marriott & Stellaris Casino. When we arrived we were greated by Jean/Jan at the front desk who was so kind and welcoming explaining all about the hotel and their services. We stayed in an Oceanfront 'renovated room' in the main tower and it didn't disappoint! Very nicely appointed and comfortable. We felt like we could jump in the ocean from the 16th floor - it was that close to the water! The elevators are really convenient since the layout is a square, so no room is far from the elevators. The highlight of this hotel is really the staff and service. The Cosecha restaurant is on the beach level and has an amazing view of the pool area and beach. The buffet breakfast is one of the best we've had anywhere and mimosas are included! ALL the staff were incredible - every one of them greeted us and made sure we were taken care of. Next is the pool staff! Stephanie, Myrna, Julio, Oda and Rita among many others went out of their way to make sure we were taken care of. We rented a cabana by the pool which are all new, open on the sides, provide just enough sun through the roof. They made sure we always had waters, ice and drinks! There is a swim up bar where the staff will take care of you nicely. Overall the pool area is so enjoyable - even without the cabana - the chairs are nice and plenty enjoyable on their own. The lobby bar is also nice and has different late night (DJ, Live Singer etc.), so it's quite enjoyable and the food is top notch! Brian at the lobby bar went out of his way to take care of us and also in the casino, but really all the staff at the lobby bar are incredible. The hotel location is close to many restaurants under 10 minutes walk, so very convenient. Thank you to the San Juan Marriott Resort for making our stay one that we'll remember forever!

My family of four (kids 13 & 15) just got back from our stay over Christmas break (Dec 24th to 29th) and had a wonderful time! This was our first time to Puerto Rico, and we picked the San Juan Marriott Resort because we were looking for that combination of a relaxing beach vacation while also being able to experience San Juan and the surrounding area. Overall, it was exactly what we were looking for and would certainly come back.
The beach was great with chairs readily available regardless of the time of day. The staff was super helpful and courteous setting out chairs, tables and umbrellas when needed. (Tipping the attendants is appreciated and goes a long way!) We didn't spend much time by the pool because we simply preferred the beach, but did see that in December the pool area gets shaded a lot earlier in the day. Yes there is music and vendors on the beach (all beaches in PR are public) but I didn't find it distracting or bothersome. Everyone was pretty chill. I also got in the ocean every day without any concern. While I do consider myself a strong swimmer having grown up at the beach in NJ, the waves here are similar to what you'd experience on any beach in the mid-Atlantic. But if you're someone that's prefers lakes to the ocean, then you may want to stick with the pool.
The main areas of the hotel and rooms were recently updated and you can tell. The whole place just has a very new look and feel to it which makes a big difference. It just feels nice. In terms of food and drink, yes it's quite expensive, but frankly that's to be expected. But the great thing about the resort is it's location. There is SO much within walking distance. GREAT restaurants abound and the Condado area in general has a great engery to it. Every morning I was at Starbucks right across the street, and we frequented the Walgreens A LOT for snacks and beer. From our perspective, other than ordering food on the beach and some late-night drinks, there was no reason to even eat at the resort.
Noise.... having read reviews previously we brought earplugs for sleeping but never used them. We were on the 9th floor and couldn't hear any of the music from the lobby but twice could feel the base reverberating. It didn't last long and didn't disturb our sleep, but just an FYI. But on that note, the room AC was great! NOT loud at all.
In terms of any areas of improvement... the fitness center has a nice variety of equipment and weights, but it is small for the size of the resort and has not been updated like the rest of the property.
In summary, we had a wonderful experience and thoroughly enjoyed our stay and San Juan. The staff was so attentive, friendly and helpful! The beach was great and the location perfect.

It’s 9pm on our last night of our 3 night trip and our trash and towels were finally just picked up after we requested our room to be serviced 3 times today. We vacated our room for 3-4 hour periods twice today in addition to breakfast this opening. Not sure why it takes so much effort to get a room to be serviced. And despite asking our beds to be made, they were never made our entire trip, there was a dirty towel by our bedside lamps that was never picked up, and they never picked up any dirty glasses we had used. There’s also plenty of other areas of service that are left to be desired but I would say these were the most notable. The room we stayed in (743) also doesn’t have any dressers. The one s only one single large drawer by the tv (pictured) so no place to put away things other than the one drawer or the closet. Lastly, there were quite a few slippery spots by the pools. There was one area where we saw 3 kids actually fall hard and multiple kids and adults, including myself and my husband, almost fall over a 2-3 hour period. Despite this no one ever tried to clean up that area by the pools or put up any wet floor signs. We're Marriott Elite members and have stayed in a large number of Marriott establishments but this place has got to have some of the worst service we’ve experienced for any hotel we’ve been at. We’re usually fans of Marriott but suggest you stay away from this one.

This is our family of four's second stay at this property on a bookend of a more remote vacation. Its proximity to the airport is convenient. Staff from checkin, bellmen, Bonvoy desk, pool attendants really all went out of their way to assist and be helpful as well as friendly. Hotel has undergone renovations and it shows. We had to wait over three hours after our 4pm checkin time to get access to our room due to housekeeping issues which was inconvenient and disappointing but the hotel did accommodate us with a temporary room to change/shower for dinner which was nice.
Dinner on property was good albeit pricey. The pool is fun particularly for kids. Beach is busy at this location but the hotel is quite literally on the beach and access is very convenient. Lots of restaurants and bars within walking distance to the hotel.
Our room (once we finally accessed it) was spectacular. Views of ocean and pool on a building corner. 1BR suite was spacious and modern. Beds and amenities were as would expect from a recently renovated Marriott property.
Overall a nice stay and would return.
