Spent 4 night in Great huts with my husband and 2-year old son, we stayed in the Kaya hut. It was a very pleasant adventure, even though our toddler would have wanted to run around more freely than we could allow ;) Make sure to bring proper shoes, especially for the kids! We read the great reviews and can only...

Great Huts recently acquired an adjacent unique villa. It is airconditioned with upper scale rooms, giving guests an alternative to Great Huts' traditional rustic rooms. The villa is called AfricanaHouse. The huge common room overlooks the sea, is flooded with natural light and has African and Jamaican art and murals, plus hand-crafted furniture by Gilbert Nicely. I visited Mandinka room,...

I stayed at great huts on a solo trip and absolutely loved it! Everyone is extremely friendly and helpful if you need tips on where to go and how to get around. The GH seems to attract an adventurous crowd as it is conveniently located near the blue lagoon, numerous beaches (right next to Boston beach), the rio grande, reach...

I stayed at Great Huts in the Tabernacle. The beds were great, staff exceptional and washrooms clean. The property was amazing with lots of great spots to relax. Spectacular beach and food and activities nearby. Only complaint was that the wifi was unreliable but I think that is more indicative of the area than the resort.

What a marvelous guesthouse, filled with art and blessed with a gorgeous setting on the ocean! I really admired the dramatic murals of horsemen and painted African cherubs and clouds on the ceiling of the great Hall..as well as, of course, the breathtaking natural setting , wonderful pool and cliffside nature walks! Then amble on the path to the rest...

My wife and I visited this hidden getaway for our honeymoon and absolutely loved the natural beauty and serenity of the place. Furthermore, we were warmly greeted and introduced to the owner Dr. Paul who upgraded our hut not only once but twice. Needless to say, we will be going back!

We stayed for a short time while travelling through Portland just before Christmas Dec 2016 and it was a wonderful experience. The service and staff were wonderful and the property is beautiful and breathtaking as you stand on the cliff over looking the sea and just enjoy the serenity. The resort has private cabanas and we chose the sea grape...

I came back for New Years Eve. Only three nights but amazing. They have opened Africana House. More of my Amazing. Although it is a villa (or should I say Royal Hut??!) with air conditioning and amazing furniture and fittings it is faithful to the African Jewish Jamaican theme. Check the website soon for pics. There will always be some...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Great Huts: Paradise on the Edge is an oceanfront resort on the lush northeastern tip of Jamaica. Modeled after a traditional African village, at once both rough-hewn and modern, it is a convergence of nature, heritage, spirituality and technology. Off the beaten path, but not far from the bustle and night life of Boston Bay and Port Antonio, Great Huts' jungle-cliff-beach habitat is a distinctive ecological and cultural experience. The African hut and Amerindian tree-house dwellings studded throughout the meandering, five-acre compound are comfortably furnished and decorated with uncommon African and Jamaican artifacts. ... more   less
