Resort is closed until October and no one gets back to you for a refund of a fully paid stay with . We paid in full for our stay last year and Covid happened. Now that we are vaccinated and ready to go, it turns out the hotel is closed until October and no one can give you an answer about a refund. What a terrible company this is, Will never ever book anything with Melia resorts, the worst ever. They have no problem taking your money but have trouble giving it back. Shameful company

Hotel's Favourite
I am not ready to go home! This is my first time at a hotel before reading the Trip Advisor reviews. I'm not an easy person to please having been a resident staff at Sandals and Beaches over a span of 6 years. Before coming, all I knew about Melia Braco was that it was a "small property" but "nice". COVID vacation? I can understand why there has not been a single case of a tourism worker contracting Covid via work in Jamaica. From check in to dining room, the adherence to the safety measures (masks, sanitation, etc) are admirable. Pros! What makes a vacation for me is SERVICE. The staff are amazing. I felt welcomed and right at home... They went above and beyond. Judy kept offering to babysit but my kid (he's 2) is clingy. However she got to engage him in a game. She also sourced a float (I believe it is her personal float) after I lamented that I accidentally left my son's. This enganced his pool experience (his first time) and I'm sure made it more memorable for us both. Dining and Bar I found out after arriving that they had only reopened a week prior and due to the occupancy only the buffet, pool bar and main bar were opened. The grill was facilitated in the main dining area. The staff made up for all the hiccups. BIG UP JUDAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BIG UP YUH SELF! And all the dining room staff- you were all awesome. Judah though.... Pool, Beach and Activities. I cant believe I forgot the name of the playmaker that kept asking everyone if they were ok. Natural hair, busy bodied with a bouncy personality. The beach provided the peace, quiet and tranquility you'd want in a vacation and with adequate sand for the kids to play in. The Pool experience was enhanced by Judy (and mentioned before) and Oshane and Ojay from the bar. Special mention to all the Entertainment team- Marlon and the girls. Hiccups? No hot water, having to reprogramme my keys (3 times until the batteries in the door were changed) the phone in the room never worked- its annoying to have to walk all the way to the front desk to report issues. Maintenance was prompt re fixing the key issues and I do understand that after a long closure hiccups (especially with water heaters) may happen. Final words! I will be back Melia Braco! PS. Bring mosquito spray- its the tropics.

We were supposed to be coming to this resort June 10th 2021. We had zero communication that this resort is currently closed and the only way I was made aware was through the recent reviews here. I immediately contacted my travel agent who had not been notified either! Our trip is paid in full and thankfully we have a travel agent to work with us and help us through this but please be aware they are not set to open until September 2021!! Please start attempting to contact them now as they are very difficult to get ahold of!

We had this group trip booked for June 2020 and still have not taken it. The resort closed due to covid and we were allowed to keep our credit and rebook until Dec. 2021.....the resort is still closed. No communication at all! We have attempted to get a refund and the only communication we have had in return is that we can rebook until Dec. I do not want to rebook, I want a refund! We have been absolutely ignored by the resort. Other resorts are open and we desperately want to take this trip. I understand the world has been turned upside down the last year but the customer service has been horrible with this resort.

Hotel has been closed for months we booked last year but had to reschedule because they closed so we were booked again for May. For some reason a few days ago a month away from our trip I decided to check on my booking status and make sure everything was ready for my trip in May I also had questions about the hotel. Well big surprise I looked up the resort again since booking and what do you know they have been shut down since June of last year. The resort nor the booking agency bothered to tell us or send out a notification of closure nor did they ask us to reschedule or book somewhere else. Had I not been neurotic and checked everything we would have left to jamaica in less than a month and been stranded. I had to fight the booking agency and this horribly mismanaged "luxury" resort to get a refund and get booked somewhere else it was a 3 day ordeal and I was ont the phone from 7am to 9pm each day trying to get this fixed. One of the major hold ups was that the hotel manager never reported their closures to the travel agency and didn't want to pick up the damn phone to confirm they were closed for 2 whole days. most of my money has already been refunded but I'm still waiting for the rest. I cannot see how a resort can get away with doing this to people and still stay in business I should have listed to the bad reviews because everything they say about this horrible resort must be true if this is how they treat guest. I want to warn everyone to not stay here because they are booking people in advance without even being open that is scummy and dangerous.
