This is a wonderful hotel. It has been really well modernised to provide lovely rooms upstairs but retaining the atmosphere of a drovers inn downstairs without seeming in any way false. It's very Welsh. The pictures on the walls are good Welsh art. The food (excellent) uses local produce. The bedspreads are Welsh wool. In everything the quality is high....

My girlfriend and I stayed at Y Talbot after spending a lovely afternoon at nearby Devils Bridge (which I would highly recommend - fantastic place, but be prepared for a lot of steps) Y Talbot is located in the main square in the small village of Tregaron. We stayed in a suite on the top floor which was spotlessly clean...

Welcome really good especially from the Welsh speaking staff. Really nice pub with good atmosphere. All food excellent except for the terrible chips( these were exactly the same as frozen supermarket chips). This was a shame as the rest of the food was much better than pub food and was up to the standard of a good restaurant. Would be...

We spotted Y Talbot as we were driving through Tregaron. What a find. My rare beef sandwich was spot on, as was the pint of real ale. Friendly service in this predominantly Welsh speaking part of Ceredigion.

Amazing size and quality of the bedroom and bathroom for the price. Surpasses any we've been to, even in quality hotels. Parking and fibre wifi freely available. It seems that the TV signal was via the internet so the picture quality was good. It was a very warm day and the outside sitting areas were used for aperitifs before our...

We were staying very close to Tregaron and had been given a couple of recommendations for Y Talbot - we were so pleased we had dinner there as it was a wonderful family evening. Both the staff and the locals gave us an exceptionally friendly welcome. We were a party of four adults, two children and a dog, and we...

Beautiful cosy hotel. Comfy rooms tastefully decorated. AMAZING breakfast. Lovely country pub serving top restaurant quality food. Craft beers and small selection of craft Gins. I love it here and will be back. By far and away the best in the locality.

Lovely-looking sizeable hotel in town centre. Nice traditional feel. Cappuccino coffee I had was special - melted choc. Jones crisps from Pwllheli superb. Good menu. Open when lots of other pubs around closed. Had 2 good local real ales. Nice comfy atmosphere. Recommended. May have 5 stars if tried food & seen hotel rooms.

There is no mention of this place in the Good Pub Guide and they are obviously missing a trick. A well stocked bar and a simple menu serving well cooked food which was surprising for the down to earth appearance of the place. Excellent steak, superb lamb all made for a very good midweek lunch. The one slightly downside is...

We live locally, and I had a chance to go out for lunch - it just happened to be Mothering Sunday. We were so lucky to be fitted in, actually fully booked - but we were just two and we were an early lunch. We started with the most excellent succulent smoked salmon and delicate dill oil, followed by a...
