We took our granddaughter and two of her friends, along with daughter and son-in-law, to LHVC resort in Puerto Plata DR as a high school graduation celebration. The resort is HUGE. Travel around the resort is quick and easy with a bus service that runs a route all day and into the evening, as well as individual rides upon request, if you have the VIP level service. Golf carts are available at VIP level also. The only reason I rated a “4” instead of a “5” is for the $800+/person All-Inclusive fee, For guests, this fee only included the buffet restaurants and bars at 2 of the 6 beaches and transportation via the bus route only. VIP service is available to “owners” which for the same $$$/person, gives you access to 5 of the 6 beaches, 14 restaurants and 16 bars, transportation around the resort as needed and to and from the airport (POP and SDQ). We purchased while we were there and were upgraded to the Gold band level of service. Will we go again? Yes, because we are now owners. Would we go again had we been only a Red band guest? No. Overall, it is a safe, beautiful and fun place to go.

Believe the negative member reviews. Crown Villa members since 2013. Yet, we were placed in an old house outside the Cofresi property gate, not in the CV area I paid for. Front line staff are generally great. Beaches and cabanas are decent. Food is mostly good. Drinks are tasty but watered down. Management staff are worse than used car salesmen, and the “concierges” are nothing but lying pimps hustling to bring you to the Tower for the upsell. The first one of this trip showed up a day late, lied about booking us dinner reservations and ordering our house liquor, and never showed his face again after I refused to go immediately to the Tower with him. Good thing I double checked dinner reservations in person in customer service or we would have been stuck eating buffets all week. By the way dinner reservations are suddenly cut to 3 per stay when we were sold nightly dinners. Why? “The contract doesn’t guarantee exact number of dinners.” What a load of double talk crap! Then when I went to pick up the house liquor myself from the liquor bodega near the Tower, I was told I had already been there - the scummy “concierge” picked up my order and kept it for himself! After giving her a piercing look, the bodega lady did eventually give me my liquor, which is now down to 3 bottles (2 hard and 1 soft) instead of 6 of whatever I wanted (and no more whiskey). And the villa beers are all Coors light when in past it was Presidente and Heineken. The “concierge” who showed up a couple days later came around the back of the villa and peeked in the sliding doors like a peeping Tom when we didn’t answer the door and helped himself into the house! Ducking creep! I told him to scram like the rat that he was! If this was back home I would have shown him the business end of my home protection unit. The third guy pretended to be there to help with our complaints and promised he was taking me to the Tower to fix things. Not! He disappeared as soon as he dropped me off at the Tower for the upsell speech. They will promise to sell you their first born child to get you to go. And the service philosophy is blame the customer. They bring the wrong entree at dinner? Oh you must have given the wrong order. Booked separate massages for father and daughter but they try to put you in the same room? You didn’t ask for separate rooms. The gaslighting by these people is worthy of a bad mystery novel. They never heard of “the customer is always right”! Every time we’ve returned our services get cut less and less and the hard sell is all they care about. Why would I keep throwing money away to get screwed time and time again? Provide excellent service for what I already paid for first CONSISTENTLY and THEN maybe I will consider paying more for even BETTER service. Instead it’s all backwards. They say “give us more and more money so we can give you less and less”… OK now you can have your bot answer with the standard “ Thank you for your comments which are so important to us” B.S.

Overall, we had a very good stay at LHVC, Puerto Plata. We had 1 Villa and Two, 2 bedroom Suites for the 12 adult children and significant others in our group. The check in was very easy and the bill was what was expected. This was a very nice start. Natali Belen at the Villas reception did a great job communicating with us every day. She also arranged all our dinner reservations. She was amazing. Our housekeeper, Yanina Garcia was also amazing. She was helpful and adapted the breakfast she cooked to what we liked. Segundo at the VIP beach was very helpful and took great care of us. We brought a good amount of tip money (in small bills) and were very generous. This obviously helped the service we got but we also felt like we were helping people out right now as many were out of work for awhile or are only working part time. Unlike other all inclusive we have been too, every restaurant we ate at this property was very good. Each was unique and authentic. The only negatives were: the booze you get is the bottom shelf and not good. Only in the VIP areas could we get the “top shelf” which was Johnny Walker Red, Malibu and Stolis. Not great but ok. Also, we were harassed constantly the first 2 days to go to one of their time share presentations. We finally went just to get them off our back and it did stop after that but it was an hour of our life we can’t get back. Also the Spa people are constantly harassing you every day to buy services. The Spa was expensive overall although 2 couples from our group got a one hour couples massage for $150 which was reasonable. For transportation, they will bring you from the airport to the resort for free, but they charge you $55 for the return trip to POP. We arranged our own transportation and also did our day trip (to Blue Lagoon) through Dominican Atlantic Transfers. Barney was awesome and we had an amazing day. His prices are much better than what the resort offers for both day trips and airport transportation. Overall, we had a great experience and would go to this resort again.

We have a membership and love it. The grounds are well kept and the place is huge, so big that you have to spend time exploring to get familiar (golf carts are key). The Villas are large enough to hold our family and they have a private pool. The staff is absolutely amazing, very helpful, everything you need is just an ask away. The beach areas are loaded with luxury seating, floating beds, double decker beds, cool dipping pools, group lounge areas, delicious beach food (Liam's is BOMB.COM), bars and friendly staff that keep the drinks flowing. The restaurants for dinner are amazing from eating with your toes in the sand or a more modern take from a boardwalk just above the beach some of them are 5 stars. This resort is great for meeting new people, we have met fantastic folks from all around the globe. Not only have we met people our age but our family members have had no problem meeting friendly people their age as well. Its big enough to get lost as well. On our 1st visit we did a couple of the "excursions": The waterfall/waterslide adventure was a good experience we might do it again for the fun of it, FYI its about a 2 mile hike at a moderate grade. Highly suggest a hard case to carry phone and cash (cash will save some hassle). The tour guide might take you to a place on the way back to buy local items. The down town area has some interesting history, cool locally made items, and a few Caribbean vibe beach bars. We recommend to get a cabby to take you down town one of the days just to check it out. ***THE SPA** A++ We did a chocolate scrub-wrap couples massage on our 1st visit. It was such a great experience we did again on our second visit and requested the same massage therapists. We are going back this year, calling in advance to get the same treatment again. It is easy to return 2-3 times on an extended stay. The spa grounds boast the only hot spa. it also has a made to order smoothie bar. You leave invigorated and ready for the night life.
We feel that this place goes above the call of duty to keep you entertained. Every night there is something going on down at the pool weather it be a foam party, bingo, karaoke, and/ or dance lessons. The amphitheater has shows what seems like every night with a good variety. After the show off to the VIP bar then to the casino for late night shenanigans.

We have been going for about 10 years, typically in November. We play pickleball first thing in the morning ( weather permitting) as it gives us an activity to do before we hit the beach for the day. There is a group that we have come to know that comes around the same time each year that also play, so it is a social outing for us also.
I have to give a big shoutout to Lilo and Adam, who look after tennis and pickleball. They are there cleaning the courts, getting the water off as soon as they can if it rains and organize impromptu tournaments if there are enough people. They are always in a good mood and definitely make the pickleball mornings one of the best part of our trip.

The sales department should be known as the LIARS CLUB. The sales department will tell you anything you want you to hear, keep you for hours on end and rush you thru all of the signing of paperwork to get a sale. Once you read all the fine print and find out you are not getting what you were promised, the Customer Service department tells you thar they are there, only to enforce the contract. They clearly stated "buyer beware!" They acknowledged that we were lied to, but stated, "you signed the contract - tough sh!t" We were in what was supposed to be a NEW 4 bedroom VILLA. There was no hot water the entire trip. I found the 40 gallon hot water heater and discovered it had literally been on fire at least to times! 40 gallon water heater for a 3,500 square foot Villa??. I took photos. The bottom was completely rusted out and the utility room was flooded. The electrical system was 3rd world with wires hanging every where. Also, the transportation, i.e., golf carts were dangerous and poorly maintained. We we traded our broken down cart for another cart almost every day, with the next one being worse than the original. I took photos of 6 consecutive carts parked out side a buffet area and the tires on each of them were completely bald. There are so many other areas that this resort fell way short of providing even the basic conveniences that I could go on ad nausim. We have well over $100,000 invested in this resort and have been treated as of we had just rented a room for the weekend.

The entire resort experience is geared to market the Lifestyles Vacation club membership. They put RCI members in the worst locations with the least amount of access with the promise of upgrading to a better villa with your own transportation and access to all of the nicer restaurants. If you choose not to buy the membership, they start to ignore you and leave you in very poor accommodations. The food was mediocre at best with minimal attention paid to quality or taste (very salty food). Getting around for RCI members was difficult because you have to call a shuttle every time you want to go somewhere and that usually takes 20-30 minutes to arrive. I believe they make the experience poor so you are inclined to purchase the membership (which is crazy expensive) just to have a 5-star experience. I would not recommend this place for families who like to leave their living quarters every day because it gets tiring and old to call a shuttle every time (to and from the villa). The upkeep of these villas was not great - power issues, water flow issues, toilets not working, water leaks, and an unresponsive staff.

The trip started off great with the airport pick up being right on time. Check in at the resort was quick and easy. We were assigned a personal concierge, Ileana, who was absolutely fantastic. She made sure everything ran smoothly and took care of any problems. She even got our group a wheel chair to use on our day trip to Puerto Plata (a member of our group required a cane to walk). The freshly prepared breakfast in our villa every morning was fabulous. The restaurants available for dinner and lunch were very good (especially Moonlight). Transportation from our villa to resort amenities mostly worked out ok. Did have a couple of long waits at the start of the week but, Ileana took care of that for the rest of the week. The villa with its own pool was great. Service throughout the week from breakfast, cleaning, pool cleaning, food service and transportation (after the first night) was commendable. Our group of 6 enjoyed the week and commented we would all like to return for another vacation. Ileana was the best!

Lifestyles Resort is amazing. The grounds are gorgeous, the food is delicious, but above all else, the staff is beyond excellent. Two of our favorites were Lilo and Pedro at the pickleball courts. They were an absolute joy and we felt blessed to share in their energy. They went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and they were incredibly helpful with securing court reservations and staying beyond their work hours so we could finish our games. They initiated a tournament that was great fun which allowed us to make some new friends. Lilo even provided trophies as the perfect souvenir for the event. It was a rainy week but Lilo and Pedro worked hard to get the courts dried and ready for us to play every single day. On the day of the tournament, they dried the courts twice so we could finish in the evening since we were rained out in the morning. When they were able, they played games with us and they were always gracious and fun. Laughter and fun occured every minute that we were there. Lilo and Pedro absolutely were our favorite part of the vacation. They are an incredible asset for this resort.

The resort does not deliver through with it’s promise. The slogan of “tell only your best friends” is funny because I wouldn’t tell my enemy to stay there. We stayed in a 3 bedroom villa that was booked through the timeshare exchange program. Since we were not owners who had purchased or upgraded while there, dining options were limited and we did not qualify for a golf-cart. The food at the restaurants that we “qualified” for was hit or miss. Ironically the Dominican restaurant was the worst. The property is VERY large so getting around without a golf-care is not easy. We had to call for transportation often which meant we had to wait up to 30 minutes for it to arrive sometimes missing our dinner reservation. All that aside, the villa needed substantial upgrades. There were cracks in the wall from the ceiling to the floor in the bedroom. The mattress was rock hard and the pillows were made of cotton balls. The A/C in one of the bedrooms stopped working on the same day that we lost hot water. After repeated calls, someone came to fix the hot water but not the A/C. The cost of wifi was $45 per device (for 1 week) which I personally think is ridiculous especially since we had to pay $845 for the all-inclusive fee for someone who never made it on the trip due to a cancelled flight.
As an experienced traveler, I would say this is among my worst traveling experiences and I would not recommend staying here.

Yes, Royal Villas are newer but the area they are in feels more like a subdivision , large buildings on small lots and built very close together.
Crown Villas are the original villas built in an lovely Spanish style with large lots and mature landscape, large Royal palms amongst it. Spacious porches and cabanas for relaxing and dining. You really get that tropical vacation feel.
Quite a few have been recently re-sold and undergone much needed renovations but some are still in need of doing so. That’s why there is such a difference in some of the reviews.
