The views were amazing. How the village is built is pretty nice. Never been to a place like this before. It's something me and some friends had to get used to. I felt we were treated unfairly at times by Tania. Did not care too much for the attitude changes. Otherwise every single staff member was amazing. Accommodating and kind.... More

We went here to have lunch. It's a beautiful escape, so different from the touristic coastline. We made a beautiful tour to some blue lagoons and waterfalls with such a lovely guide. We picked avocado's and pasion fruits and had a beer and a very good pasta lunch afterwards. The views are truly amazing here even from the toilet!

Excellent spot to relax high in the mountains, with an incredible view of the north coast. The food was great, the room was comfortable and fresh. The bathroom's view is amazing and feels awkwardly comfortable despite the openness and exposure. Tim is a great host and makes people feel like his bagua is your bagua. Would definitely recommend the experience!

My husband and I spent 3 days at the Eco Lodge in late Feb 2016 and all I regret is that it was only 3 days. I kind of stumbled onto it online but my gut said 'yep, I need to chill there', and my gut was right. It was a beautiful lodge in the mountains that took peaceful to... More

I spent two nights in Tubagua and had a wonderful time. Tim is a great host, and he has created a beautiful little oasis. We met interesting people and enjoyed the gorgeous dinner with them at night. Juanín, the local guide, took us on a great (and fairly strenuous) hike to some waterfalls which was well worth the effort. Juanín... More

We enjoyed our stay in the newly built cabin at Tubagua Lodge. A nice combination of rustic, convenient and comfortable. The views are amazing, and especially enjoyable from the dining patio. Food was great. Birdwatching was fun. Fellow-travelers were interesting to meet. It is close to the road, which is convenient, but a bit noisy sometimes.

Hi Marc, thanks so much for the kind words. Your mention of the road is an opportunity for me to point out that indeed we are located on the edge of a village and not in the middle of the wilderness; thus village sounds make up part of the experience of an authentic Dominican experience here at Tubagua Ecolodge. I stayed at Tubagua while travelling around DR and I had a great few days there. I stayed in the longhouse and was travelling solo. I honestly think the views from the longhouse are probably the best - but I didn't see all of the other cabins. The long house is I think 4 "bedrooms" all in a row (making... More

Hi Alanna, thank you so much for your kind words and how you enjoyed staying in our Longhouse. The Longhouse is our dormitory option best for the budget-minded and for families or groups of up to 16 people. It's actually divided into six small rooms each providing basic privacy so you don't have to bed down with strangers like in... More

Thatched-roof huts and mosquito nets don't sound luxurious - the huts are basic (ours had a private bathroom and shower with HOT water), the mosquito nets are the most functional I've seen with elasticized bottoms that grip the mattress corners. The location is spectacular, on a ridge overlooking the coastal plain south of Puerto Plata. Temperatures were moderate and fresh... More
