This is my first time writing a review. I thought it was 1000% necessary after being blown away with my stay at Bijblauw!
I emailed Britt several times with questions before my arrival and the staff always got back to me super fast.
We experienced some flight difficulties which lead to my wife and me having to overnight in Curaçao unexpectedly. I feel exceptionally lucky to have been able to book their last available room. We arrived very late and had to leave very early for our next...More

Thanks for your review! Ed is very happy to hear you enjoyed your short stay at BijBlauw to the fullest! See you, hopefully, soon!
I spent 3 nights in the apartment at BijBlauw and had the best stay! The hotel is chic, intimate and charming. The buildings of the hotel are colourfully restored houses that parallel the colonial style of historic Willemstad. Each room is beautifully decorated and has...More
Great place to stay in Curaçao - great location, friendly & helpful staff, and all in beautifully restored historic building. I booked the “comfortable” room and was surprised that it was a lot bigger than I expected. Loved the rustic chic decor as well.
Our trip to Curaçao was fabulous, not the least of which was our lodging at Bij Blauw in Willemstad. The building is a lovely renovated old-style building along Pietermaai, within easy walking distance to the central waterfront of Willemstad and the Pontoon Bridge. The hotel...More

Our experience with Willemstad is that a rental car is a burden in the city, but necessary to explore any other part of the island (well worth the effort). I'd take a cab from the airport - as others have suggested, typically a 40$ fare - and then rent with help from the hotel when you want to go exploring. By then you'll likely have your bearings and will be able to find your way back to the hotel. Parking in the city is an adventure, but not impossible.

Like mentioned, Avila beach is the best beach in walking distance (+/- 8 min.). For the other beaches, we recommend to hire a car or to take a bus. A car is the easiest way to discover the island and you can find the beaches within a 10 minute drive to an hour. A personal tour with a local guide is also an option.
We work together with a local diving instructor, who can create a personalized diving trip. He knows the best places for diving. Next door you can rent snorkeling equipment.
And last but not least; we have beach towels for you. Saves you an extra kg in your luggage, where you can put your snorkeling set!
