Detailed Reviews
On a quiet side street, but right in the heart of Santiago de Cuba city, this little paradise can be found. Not only its excellent location allows for easy access to most places of interest and landmarks within easy walking distance, but also the comfy rooms, all with their private ensuite bathrooms, the energizing breakfast on the gorgeous terrace filled with hanging natural greenery, with views of the harbour, the Cathedral and the Tivoli neighborhood (which are a big plus) and also the fantastic and friendly service of the family there who went out of their way to make sure our stay was for sure a great one. If you travel by car, there's a convenient paid on-street parking area by the cathedral for a low per-night price and it's just 5 minutes walk from Roy's Terrace Inn. We definitely recommend this place.

At Roys terrace inn everyone made our life extremely easy. The room was amazing, the breakfast to die for, a great variety, particularly for Cuba. The dinner at the rooftop terrace was a daily treat, with the view of the bay under the mountains and 5* service. The ladies at the house cooked different menus for us every day including vegetarian! Everything was perfect. We recommend it to everyone.

We recently spent three nights at Roy's Terrace Inn. In spite of the current pandemic, Roy and the rest of the team gave us a lovely welcome into their casa.
We were given a nice, very clean and spacious room including air condition and a fan. Daily room service and plenty of small surprises, such as candy, fresh lemonade and cake added an additional special touch to our stay.
During the entire duration of our stay, Roy and the staff did not only help us sort out tours and transportation, but also aided in the communication with the airport and other casas for the rest of our journey.
All meals we received for both breakfast and dinner were some of the best food we ate in all of Cuba and enough to feed a whole family. In addition, all meals took place on the amazing rooftop terrace of the casa.
I can highly recommend a stay at Roy's Terrace Inn – you will not only receive a great room in a beautiful home, Roy and all others will make you feel like part of the family.
Looking forward to staying here again when I return to Santiago de Cuba.
Thank you Roy, Diego and the team!

We had a great three night stay at Roy's Terrace Inn. All the staff were very welcoming and friendly - loved the welcome cookies! Our room was a good size, clean and comfortable. The upstairs deck is gorgeous and has a great view. There was also a little deck right outside our room with beautiful murals all around. We ate dinner there the first night and it was really good. The breakfasts were also really good. The location is an easy walk to everything we wanted to see in the Historical Centre. We booked one of the city tours through the staff. Our guide was Sulema Chang Socarras and she was great. We saw so much that we wouldn't have seen just on foot. She was great at explaining life in Cuba. I would definitely recommend Roy's Terrace Inn.

Excellent and very warm, friendly and helpful staff. This was my favourite place out of the many places I stayed in Cuba.

Lovely traditional clean family run hotel. Our room had a lovely terrace overlooking the bay, which was lovely to sit out on in the evenings watching the sun go down. Roy's english is excellent so no language barrier. I feel I have made some friends and will certainly go back.

We stayed 3 nights in this lovely Casa Particular and it was a great stay. The room we had was quite big and very clean, with a window to a nice patio with a fantastic wall painting.
The highlight of this Casa is the romatic roof terrace, where you can have a tasty breakfast and/or dinner under a roof of plants and lilacs - it's like an oasis in this city.
The hosts Roy and Diego are very kind and helpful, also English speaking.
The location of the Casa is also quite central, just a few blocks away from the main scquare Parque Cespedes.
So all and all, should I come back to Santiago de Cuba, I would always try to stay in this hostal! 100% recommended!

Had a lovely stay at this hostel. Beautiful historic building with amazing terraces. Food was incredible. Delicious breakfast and dinners that were like eating with family. In fact, this place is run by a nice family. They keep the property clean and spotless. Room was very clean and well kept. Amazing host Roy went above and beyond to take care of anything I needed. The nightly rate was very reasonable. Can’t wait to return to stay here again.

Wonderful Casa - Roy and Diego are charming hosts and their staff are lovely.
Possibly the best breakfast in Cuba too !
Lovely rooftop terrace for meals - we had an evening meal there once and regretted not having had every meal there !
Ground floor room was spotless (we had a triple share) although I would recommend either of the two upstairs rooms for a better location which also have little terrace with chairs in front of them.
Would happily return here and highly recommend this Casa

Hola Jocelyn,
Muchas gracias.
Cordialmente,

Dear dshepard562,
As the dear fellow travelers have mentioned above, a 3 - 4 days stay in Santiago de Cuba will suffice to experience the most important things Cuba's most Caribbean city has to offer.
On your first day, the city walking tour suggested by the Lonely Planet guide is the best way for a tourist to visit most of the landmarks and places of touristic interest in the city.
On the second day, a short trip to El Castillo de San Pedro de la Roca (El Morro Castle), combined, if you will, with a visit to both Santa Ifigenia cementery and El Cobre Sanctuary.
On the third day, you may want to do Baconao Park (natural reserve) with a visit to La Gran Piedra (a huge monolith perched on top of a mountain, Ave del ParaÃso botanical garden and one of Santiago de Cuba's beaches.
You may also want to try the different places available for nightlife such as Casa de La Trova Santiaguera, La Claqueta Bar, Casa de las Tradiciones, Café Santiago (at Melià Santiago Hotel), Casa Granda Hotel's Roof Garden (where there is a show on every Saturday) and Tropicana Santiago Cabaret.
Appart from all these recommendations, there are also a number of differentand interesting experiences and things to do the city has to offer, which you can look up on Tripadvisor.
We certainly hope this heps you have a clearer idea on what to do and how to plan your stay in Santiago de Cuba.
Kind regards,
Roy's Terrace Inn Team
Good afternoon,
Either via Viazul bus coaches (51.00 CUC) or by catching the daily Cubana Airline flight Havana - Santiago de Cuba (rates vary, high/low season fees aplly...)
You can book both online.
Hope this helps.
