Stayed here as part of a walking group. Supposed to be in another hotel but were bounced into this one by our tour operator or Havana tourism. Either way we got the poor end of the deal. Front desk staff uninterested in their customers. Other staff were helpful such as in the breakfast room. Even there they struggled with the... More

On a trip to Cuba this month the hotel (Sevilla) which our holiday company booked us into overbooked and we were sent to the Hotel Plaza. The lobby suggested that it had been a grand hotel but the rooms showed that it had been allowed to deteriorate. Mould, dangerous electrics, faulty equipment and cold/broken showers were the norm it seemed.... More

we used the facilities of the hotel for a shower (joke - as there was only a trickle of water) and change before we went on to the Tropicana (that's another story as we were badly let down by the rep.) The room had three lights, a bedside lamp, a light in the bathroom and the best one was in... More

As stated in other reviews, this is an old hotel, with some charming architectural features. It does, however, need some TLC. I stayed here on two different occasions. Both times, the room was very clean. Shower function is unpredictable--at times a good flow of hot water, at others, no hot water, at other times, just slightly more than a dribble.... More

Hotel of old glamour- definitely before revolution. No renovation since. Incredible loud rooms to the princcipal road with tons of cuban trucks and buses and and.... Sometimes no water at all in the room, sometimes no hot water. Not enough dish in the breakfast room for the tons of package tourists which are placed there by their companies. Run down-... More

Old and poorly maintained but that's perhaps inevitable due to the embargo. We read other customer reviews before we left and you know what? Staying here was not so bad at all! We loved the breakfast on the terras.

Stayed on overnight trip from Varadero Tuesday 8th November. Room awful -242,others given ok rooms , but at least 4 others given rooms as bad. Dirty sticky floor, broken toilet seat, hairdryer dangerously positioned above toilet with flex hanging down so didn't use, lights with no bulbs in. rotten skirting boards, mould everywhere and smelled of damp, very noisy even when... The setting was glorious - just off the main square, but the hotel needs lots and lots of work done to it. The rooms were very shabby, the air conditioning ancient, no hot water on either of the occasions we stayed there. Various insect crept in and out, including cockroaches. Lighting in the bedrooms was poor. However, breakfast on the... More

The Plaza hotel has a good location but is quite average. Our room was big enough but didn't have the cleanliness that you expect from a four star hotel. The airco was also loud and dirty. Staff was friendly though and the breakfast on the roof terrace is the biggest asset of this hotel. I wouldn't book it again because... More

We booked a 'Havanna over-night' tour from Varadero and were booked into this hotel. The hotel has charming architecture both inside and outside, like high ceilings, pretty court yard, old-fashioned lobby, bar, and 'everything'. Our room was clean but furnishing was extremely basic, including the shaky white wash-hand basin, bathroom taps, showerhead, lamp etc... probably all from the 60s. Given... More
