Right in the centre of the city the location is perfect. The hotel so run down, dirty and noisy. The architecture is fabulous but not been maintained since 1959. We stayed for 5 nights bed and breakfast. The breakfast was awful, the worst I have ever had in my 60+ years of traveling. The reception staff need to be trained...

Location of the hotel is superb for exploration of old Havana. 4 stars doesn't corespond to european 4 stars hotels. Of course it needs refurbishment but when you enter the hotel you can feel decadent times of old Havana. Lobby is definitely beautifull. Breakfast is correct. Rooms very spacious. Clean enough. Price/performance not a good ratio because it is very...

This hotel is probably the heart and soul of Cuba. It's location is fantastic and accounts for its over the average price. The building is certainly worth a visit- it is priceless. A great place to soak up those Havana vibes. •The staff's hospitality was a bit of a hit and miss, however a barman in the lobby bar was...

We were moved to this hotel because ours was closed. We had an internal room with no windows to look out of. The room was clean and the sheets but the bottom sheet was not large enough to tuck it so kept being pulled away from the mattress during the night. The coffee maker in the room would not work...

To charge $250 a night for this small, old, musty room is bewildering anywhere in the world, except Havana. The room has the basic comfort of an old, small US motel room. Worth $60 at the most. Reception was as welcoming as an enemy would welcome its foe. Very well located in the tourist-trappy old town. Free one-hour Internet cards...

Dear Blirola, We are sorry that your experience has not been entirely positive. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused. Indeed this is a very old hotel (1875) in fact the oldest operating and National Monument since 1981. Its antiquity with its magnificent location make of Inglaterra one of the favorites in Havana. Certainly our rooms are very different...

Coffee on the front patio during breakfast, music at lunch, dancing on the roof in the evening - there is always something going on here! The rooms are furnished in a 'vintage basic' style but they are clean and you don't spend much time in your room when you are in Havana.

I wasn't expecting much from cuba but wanted to experience it just to see it. Staff were very rude but that could be culture or language difference. Rooms were not clean and very run down could do with modernisation but not too much as you wouldn't want to lose the colonial feel, maybe a sweep and Polish and a lick...
