Excellent place to stay in the Havana area. You are about 10 mins to Old Havana via cab, and about 25-30 mins to the airport from here. The food in the garden restaurant was ok, not fantastic but good. Service in the bars was always good, and prices extremely reasonable. Great cigar shop downstairs as well! The staff seemed very...

Lots of history and nice grounds. Make sure to tour the underground tunnel from the Cuba missile crisis. Had to shift rooms three times to get working air conditioning. Mostly American tourists. Executive floor breakfast buffet was very disappointing.

Great builting from the 30s, with nice gardens facing malecon. Staying at this hotel is really a nice experience taking you bank in time in Cuba's golden era, however the hotel need strong renovation to really meet the standards of a 5 star hotel. Plus needs to improve a bit the room cleaning service. The location is good, is built...

I did not have a room here, but it is for sure my favorite location to just sit and enjoy the ambiance. The view, the place built in 1930, just take it all in. Great lunch under the shade out back is number one in Havana. Great Cuban cigar shop downstairs.

We did not sty at the hotel but came here for a drink. The building is truly impressive and I was reminded of the design ideals behind classic hotels in southern California and Florida, and even the atmosphere at La Cuesta Encantada. The garden is a beautiful spot for having a drink. Unfortunately, many many others had the same idea...

It was such a pleasure to stay at such an iconic hotel...especially as a US citizen after soooo many years of travel restrictions between our countries. The breakfast is AMAZING with a huge variety. Be sure to take the hotel tour and wander on your own. There is a gift shop and cigar shop and a book stand where you...

You are visiting Cuba and Havana and that requires an adjustment of expectations...not a downgrade, just an adjustment. When purchasing a stay at the Hotel Nacional de Cuba you are purchasing a chance to experience the history of the hotel and the city. And although it is a Cuban 5-star property, you will not receive the 5-star hotel experience one...

The location is amazing with beautiful views of the ocean and the city. There are great places to have a drink and enjoy. It is only ten cuban dollars to take a cab into town and it is ten minutes away. The hotel is soaked in history. Read Havana Nocturne for a great sense of the recent history of Cuba. Things...

The Nacional Hotel de Cuba has so very much to offer. A historic hotel on the Malecon, with a gorgeous spot to view sunsets, to the Hall of Fame of personalities visited, which is very informative, to a small museum on the Cuban Missile Crisis to UNESCO cannons to the most helpful concierge ever. Simply a must.

Full Disclosure I'm not reviewing the Hotel Nacional de Cuba for its rooms, rather I'm looking at it as a full service way-station for travelers in Havana who are in a local casa particular and who need, well almost anything to assist and augment their visit to Havana. For such a traveler, the Hotel Nacional de Cuba is excellent. The...
