Having read previous reviews I went off in trepidation. Would the Halcyon Cove be the disaster some seem to experience? or the amazing holiday others do? I decided to roll the dice and hope to come out with the former - and I did.
We stayed at the Halycon at the beginning of February the reason for the delay in posting a review was that we were going through the complaints process with our holiday company as the holiday was a disaster from start to finish. Yes the hotel...More

I took travel rods, none provided. We caught most of our fish on a whip and float, using bait from breakfast e.g. luncheon meat, cheese or bacon. Watch the crabs if you fish on the bottom. Best to fish just over the breaking waves, we waded out . The fish are not that big so use 14 or 16 hooks else you will miss bites. I tried a spinner with no luck . I also fished a float and a ledger further out but oinly got my bait pinched with little indication of a bite. Think we caught about 10 species including a pipe fish thing whose mouth was as long as its body. If the kids fish, watch out for the weaver looking fish , it has a sharp bite so make sure you use forceps or a discorger. Hope that helps
