Went down The Rock this Saturday stunning food as per usual. Five of us went 2 had gammon , one steak and Guinness pie, 1 corned beef pie and one curry. The home made chips are incredible the best chips for miles around. Well worth going for a Saturday afternoon lunch

One of the nicest places around. Been coming here for over ten years and I have to say Paul and Jen keep this place in A1 condition. Food quality and service is excellent. Three real ale beers - Fuller's London Pride, Greene King Abbot and Sharps Doombar served on draft, all very high quality.

Wow! Have no idea where the landlord learned customer service skills! The staff couldn't have been more miserable, unhelpful, disinterested or unfriendly if they had tried! Called the Rock, so true, getting customer care is like getting blood out of a stone! Avoid this establishment, spend your money elsewhere!

A lovely local pub to us in Blackwood. Never been for Sunday Lunch so took the plunge at the rock. For £16 each we had three courses and they weren't tight on the portions! Stunning quality food as always and after 1pm they had someone playing the piano too which was lovely. The staff as always were very attentive and...

We have been here several times for Sunday lunch and every time it's been good. Smallish portions and not a vast menu but adequate for a meal. Family makes a meal. Bread and butter pudding last time we were there wasn't wonderful.

I've written a review of this pub before and it had a glowing report. Sad to say on a recent visit was very disappointed with the standard of food so much so that I have rearranged a forthcoming lunch to avoid going there. The reason I had ordered duck breast with a blackberry and was told it was served with...

Went here on Saturday with my boyfriend. Friendly welcome when we arrived. Beautiful building and very cosy. We were first sat in the 'snug' while we waited until 6pm to go to our table. Was lovely and relaxing in there. The lady took our order - we both ordered a curry only for the lady to tell us the chef,...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Your hosts Paul and Jennifer Taylor extend a warm welcome to you here at The Rock. The former winners of the Enterprise Inns National Pub of the year competition have put their plans to emigrate down-under on hold. Having taken on the tenancy of The Rock in July, they have completely refurbished the entire hostelry throughout. We offer an elegant, well stocked bar, choice of real ales, interesting selection of wines and some old fashioned soft drinks which all catch the eye as you approach. The menu is comprehensive, predominantly fresh food based, catering for both those on the move lunchtimes, as well as those who prefer to linger. Our specials are innovative and changed regularly. ... more   less
