I reserved this hotel with a hope it’ll turn out as a good hotel. In fact, I’m really disappointed with the bathroom. Their water is very salty. Once you shower, you don’t feel really clean. It leaves slimy-like feeling on your body. I have to buy mineral water to brush my teeth. Unlike the Indonesian standard, their toilet also doesn’t have bidet or jet shower.

This hotel is next to Holiday Inn and opposite to IBIS. Its perfectly located for people looking for water sports in Bali, just at the back of hotel is the beach Benoa where water sports activities happen, you can even bargain for sports, in particular in evening time. Hotel has seating arrangement of their own on the beach in case you want to relax there. This beach is just for water sports or to relax, its very dirty and not at all for swimming. It is around 12 Kms from Airport and taxi charges you around 150,000 - 200,000 Rupiah (IDR) for drop, to my disappointment even pre-paid taxi doesn't follow the fixed rates displayed on the airport based on location. I would suggest to take the toll road on way to hotel from airport, its beautifully built over the sea but taxi may charge you extra for the toll which is around 11,000 Rupiah.

Pros:
- Villas built in traditional Balinese style.
- Located right on the beach beach Benoa for water sports enthusiasts.
- Rooms at good price.
- Peaceful and tranquil.
- Staff was very helpful and smiling.

Cons:
- Hotel booking claims on various travel portals that there are certain rooms with ocean view, but I found this claim to be false, there was no room with a "in-particular" ocean view. The only difference is in room size or the way there are designed. They all are built alongside an internal street with a common swimming pool.
- Weak wi-fi connectivity, it works just OK only if you come out of your room
- Breakfast menu was not that great.
- Towels seemed to be very old and used.
- Broken shower in bathroom.

We had suddenly decided to extend our trip by another leg, and so found the last available room at The Benoa. We stayed a total of two nights, and paid about 50USD per night via Agoda. When we arrived the front desk was a bit clueless, but upon showing our Agoda confirmation, she confirmed that yes, there was one room available! Phew.

Our room was an executive suite, Room 225. It is considered one of the cheaper rooms, we realised, but we did not mind it as it was super spacious and with a huge bed. The shower is outdoor, and there was also a coffee/tea station, a wooden wardrobe and bench/daybed.

The Good:
We did like the location. Even though the Holiday Inn was in construction just next door, and the Ibis right smack across from us, the resort did feel like a sanctuary, thanks to all the vegetation. You feel like you are in the jungle, instead of a land-lot between two hotels. (Conrad was also next door). The beach was also accessible, and for those inclined, it is possible to do some watersports. The air-conditioning worked well, and we also appreciated the mosquito coils and electric mosquito repellent included in the room.

The Not-So Good:
As you might have guessed, mosquitoes are plentiful. During the slight confusion at reception, my partner and I were well bitten by the mosquitoes within the space of 10 minutes. We took that as a warning, and religiously sprayed the repellent and lit the coils whenever we could.

The security situation is also a bit worrying. The padlock when attached, still allowed a small person or child to slip through the gap. It did not feel safe at all, as anyone could push the door open, even if not completely, to look directly into the room.

The bathroom in particular showed the age of the resort. There was a bare telephone wire just hanging beside the toilet, a sign of previously installed phone that removed/ripped out. The amenities were also old, the toilet door panelling a big cracked, the tub was dirty with bits of insect inside, and the outdoor shower, which could be nice was marred by the dead plants/bush and non-existent water pressure. There were also a few big geckos lurking in the ceiling panels. They do look a bit scary, as they are big and tend to dart around. One fears a single careless gecko might fall on him when using the toilet.

It was also very confusing for such a small resort, to have more than three different networks (and passwords) for the reception, for the room, and for the bar/restaurant/breakfast area. Even after getting them all, the best wi-fi was in the mosquito infested reception. The in-room wifi was extremely spotty.

Breakfast was also nothing to write home about. We had either had Eggs or Fried Noodles/Rice. There was a self-serve station at the back, for coffee-tea, cereal, some fruits, and breads with a toaster. It was enough to get you up and running, but yeah..

Conclusion:

In the end, we took advantage of the car that we had rented, and drove out most of the time. We went to the awesome Meads Bar and Grill, (2km up the road), and on two occasions, dined at the Conrad hotel next door. After dinner and drinks, we simply walked on the beachfront, back over to the resort. The famous Jari-Menari Spa is also 5 minutes walk up the same road, I managed to have a very satisfying massage there, and that whole stretch of road has many food options and stores.

For beach itself, we did drive to other beaches in Nusa Dua and Sanur. The beach at the resort, simply was not for swimming, mostly because it was in a kind of lagoon, and there was nobody swimming at all. The pool offered some respite, but it was very heavily chlorinated.

All in all, the resort is not completely without its charms. The well-taken care of compound and greenery is inspirational. Especially if you own a garden yourself, as it is so lush and beautiful. But do leave yourself some options to travel out, otherwise you might be bored to tears in this resort. We were happy to have found the resort as a last-minute booking, but probably will not be returning.

We walked in to the hotel to book a room. We have checked the room, and we find its quiet and very big rooms with a beautiful garden, close to the sea. We dealed with the price. Of course we did not tryed the bed whan we were looking. But the beds are horrible. They are very old, very uncomfortable and very noise. Pool is ok, but do not expect towel to the pool. From the pool I saw a couple rats were running in and out. The staff in the restaurant is not nice, and we had to wait 20 minutes for the breakfast. No selection of breakfast, you can choose from the menu. WiFi is very Poor. So we decide to do not stay here for longer, as we can not sleep very well and our back is hurt from the bed. We went to the reception to pay the Bill and informed them that we are going to leave. They dont asked the reason we thought they are not imterested or they know already as 2 days before we have tryed to change a room. So we paid the Bill and recognised that we have been chared with one extra night. I asked the lady why, she said this is cancellation fee. If I dont ask they are not telling just charging. And we have not been informed about the fee, just we had to pay this is not nice. The lady offered to order a car for us, to leave to Ubud. The driver sad it cost 500 000, we just checked with grab it was 340 000 only. So, this hotel is in nice location but not nice to stay.

This is by far one of the strangiest properties I've ever stayed at. It's so weird that I am having troubles comparing it to anything else. It looks like the original idea was great but the execution failed miserably. Here is the story:

The property is very small (8 villas and a few rooms in the "main" building). It's located next door to Conrad, yet local taxi driver had no idea where it was. The grounds are kept well. Many villas are separated from the common areas by concrete wall (just like you see in movies about old-time Mexico) and look somewhat fancy from the outside. But once you enter the picture rapidly changes.

It felt like originally the place was designed to be a fancy boutique hotel, but in the middle of the construction process the owner ran out of money. For instance, the bathroom has a shower and a bath, but all fixtures used are made of cheap and ugly-looking bluish ceramic. Besides, the ventilation hole has some wooden cover on it (like in some of the cheapest local motels), the phone has some torn wires and the wall is constantly wet.

The same applies to the room. While the design is quite nice, the little details ruin it. Once you turn the AC on it brings some strange smell (later I figured where it came from), which makes you want to turn it off. The bed has a mosquito net. I've stayed in the hotel next door and it never needed the net. So I was wondering why these guys put it on.

The hotel is indeed located on the beach (although none of the villas have a sea view) but the beach is a joke. It's only 20-30 meters wide and has ugly vendor stalls on each side. Right next door to this property is an abandoned construction site, which locals use as dump. As a result it smells badly (remember the AC smell? That's where it was coming from) and hosts miriads of mosquitos and flies (hence, mosquito nets). Flies were so annoying, we could hardly finish our breakfast.

The pool was very small and ugly-looking because of concrete wall behind it. The staff spoke worst English I have experienst on Bali. But the biggest joke was so-called SPA. Imagine an old massage table in the locker room of a college sport hall? Well, this SPA looks exactly the same way. Yet, they charge for massage more than four star hotel next door.

Overall, I would not recommend staying at this hotel. If it was located in the backpackers' Kuta it would be just fine. But it doesn't fit in Benoa/Nusa Dua where people spend much more money on the room but expect much better standards. BTW, the price of the so-called VILLA is as much as room in the four star Melia Benoa next door.

My husband and I stayed for two nights before heading home. The price of the room was quite affordable in comparison to the surrounding hotels. Our room was in the deluxe suite close to the front office. The room was huge! Upon first entering it appeared clean and comfortable. It's an older hotel and not as "prestige" as some of the other hotels but it was all we needed. The toilet ran a little bit, the shower was a bit grubby and the towels/sheets were a bit " off white" but it's Asia and it really wasn't that terrible. The grounds are beautiful and the staff was attentive and polite. We attempted the outdoor breakfast only to find it covered in ants... Again that's typical here in some spots in Asia. The location of this hotel is perfect so that it did not take long for us to wander down the beach to find a good meal and cheap massage! This hotel was extremely quiet and comfortable. I think if your looking for a clean affordable hotel it's perfect!

A whole bunch of us had booked rooms there because my cousin was getting married at Conrad next door. Turned out to be one of our worst experiences because everyone checked out after one night, and some didn't want to stay at all. Some of us managed to get a partial refund, and some didn't bother. They moved straight to Conrad while we moved to The Royal Eighteen at Kuta. I wouldn't compare with the Conrad since it's obviously a different league. But I paid the same price for The Royal Eighteen and we felt so relieved we escaped from the horrid Benoa Beach Front.

I had read mixed reviews so I had already lowered my expectations. Yet, the experience was so bad I just didn't care about losing my money. Here is why...

Right at the entrance, where the reception was, is infested with mosquitoes. So, you'd better equip yourself with lots of mosquito repellant. There are only two places that offer WIFI - reception and restaurant and both are infested with mosquitoes. However, the mosquitoes don't seem to attack men, big burly men especially. But all of us girls walked away with a dozen bites on our legs. The reception area doesn't have a single bin too.

Our room wasn't ready yet so we dropped off our luggage in my sister's room. The room was big and had a toilet with no door. They were joking about how the room would stink. It's odd how the twin room didn't have a toilet door while our couple rooms had doors. The shower was outdoor, which no one would ever use because most of the time, we were just trying to close the doors asap so mosquitoes wouldn't enter. The indoor bath tub was old and dirty. I definitely wouldn't wanna lie there. The flush was faulty. After flushing once, the water would just flow non-stop. It happened for all 3 rooms I was in. I managed to fix it but it would get stuck the next time I used it. And bcos the flush wasn't strong enough, all the toilet paper just got stuck there.

I returned to the hotel late at night hoping to get a shower and rest, only to end up upset and drained. The place was dark and creepy we couldn't find our room. I had paid for a garden villa, which cost about 15USD more than a normal suite, but found that the garden villa was actually smaller than the normal suite, only that it came with a small courtyard we wouldn't even step into. The garden villa also didn't have the slippers and robes that were provided in the normal suite. The floor was greasy I don't know why. We stepped into the shower and found a spider web hanging from the shower. The bath soap were in reusable ceramic bottles not closed tightly. I don't even know how long had this room not been used, so I definitely didn't dare touch those.

After a long wait, the water was still cold so I called the reception and was told I had to let the water flow for 5 minutes. It finally warmed up, but I felt like I was wasting water. After the bath, we came out perspiring, that was when I realised the air-con was faulty. It was almost midnight and my kids were tired, yet we couldn't sleep. We called the reception who came in to fiddle with the remote control, as if it would help, then he got his colleague who did the same thing. When they finally concluded the air-con was faulty, I was so sick of it, I wanted out immediately. He said he was just a security guard and that I would have to speak to the manager about the refund. They had no more twin garden villas so I had to downgrade to the suite, which was actually better.

The suite had a spider web with a dead spider in it. It was stuck on the unopened toilet roll. The bath tub was also dirty. The next morning I found a cockroach in the toilet. I couldn't sleep all night cos I was so upset by the experience and the toilet flush wouldn't stop so it was very noisy. Luckily our double bed had a net to block out the mosquitoes.

Security is a big issue too. Before we arrived, they actually allowed my cousin to enter all our rooms to place gifts in them. Is that legal?!?! What if it was an enemy who was going to place a bomb? The doors are very old wooden doors that are latched from inside. Outside, it is locked by a padlock. Meaning, anyone can lock you up in your own room and you wouldn't be able to escape. The latched door still has a gap so mosquitoes can come in and people can peep in and anyone with a knife can just chop in open. Plus the place is soooo dark and open, anyone can sneak in!

The next morning we skipped breakfast, but my sister who went was bitten by mosquitoes and ants. We asked for a refund and we managed to refund the remaining nights we had booked. Our other friends weren't as lucky though. The staff was friendly and helpful in helping us with the refund. Apart from the good service, there is no other redeeming factor about this hotel.

The Balinese architectural charm started and ended at the front door of the villa. The rooms smelt moldy (we had two rooms), the bathrooms were old and smelly, the towels and bedding were old and there was a glitch with the phone system that resulted in phones in our rooms going off in the middle of the night, both nights we were there. While the beach front location is good, the swimming pool is small. The staff smiled at our complaints but could do nothing to help, so we cut our stay short and moved down the road to the Novotel.

Sorry to be so late in answering . Yes there are decent bar fridges in the rooms and the rates are reasonable to stock up from the hotel. also plenty of superettes in the area - most of which are open 24/7 and fully stocked with cold drinks, fruit juices, beer, wine etc. hope this is still in time to assist.
