My husband and I's expections of what the resort would be like were blown away as we got out of our transport. The layout of the lobby, the greeting the planting lighting, it was just perfect, especially after 24 hours of travelling. We were shown to our room, even the walk there is beautiful. There are lots of Balinese artifacts displayed in all the corridors. When we entered our room that also did not disappoint, there was a small kitchenette which then went into a lounge area with a round dining table, a small sofa, coffee table, TV, and another table with a mirror and chair. Off this area are you enter the bathroom from a door and the bedroom with 2 sliding doors. The bed is huge, emperor I think, it and the pillows were very comfortable. The bathroom is very luxurious, a very big bath, we did not use. The shower and toilet are side by side and concealed by another glass sliding door. Toiletries included, plenty of towels, although there never seems to be a towel for drying my hair in any hotel, a guest hand towel is too small and a bath towel is too big. There is a safe and wardrobe in the bathroom. There was not enough hanging space for me, I like to unpack everything when on holiday. There is also a clothes line over the bath and a wooden airer on the balcony. Tea and coffee making facilities, water in the fridge which is topped up daily and an iron and board. The only thing that was disappointing was the view, we overlooked the car park, at the back of the lobby. The following morning we went for breakfast, that was tricky the first day, but we had a beautiful sight before we found the restaurant, the pool area, OMG its amazing, tropical, waterfalls, cabana bars, huge sun beds, we used the pool every day of our 5 day stay. The only downside I could see is if the hotel was 50- 100% full you would not get a sun loungers, there is only one side of the pool with them , as the hotel is on the other side with rooms that go straight onto the pool on the ground floor, and they can only accommodate 1 sun lounger. When you enter the breakfast restaurant you instantly greeted by the staff, in fact every where in the hotel it is the same. This is one of the reasons we returned to Bali. You choose your own table, drinks orders are taken and then its self service. There are fresh juices, a good selection of breads, cheese, fruit, pancakes , bacon, sausage, and the traditional curry, noodles and rice. There is a station for kids, donuts and chocolate fountain, also in pastries. And an egg station, I love it when you can order eggs how you want them. I have to mention Komi here as she introduced herself and also asked my name. The next morning she greeted me and my husband by name, that is something we have never experienced anywhere in the world. The tables are a good size in the restaurant, so no problems accommodating you plates etc. Again the only problem I can see here is that you may have to wait at busier times as it is quite small. If you want to eat in the evening you have to go over the road to the Sakala beach. Strange, but a beautiful venue with an infinity pool, bar and beach. The food here is very good quality and delicious. And around 50% more than it would cost outside the hotel. They have a few themed events on the beach and one we joined was the bbq evening. A choice of starters and dessert and then you choose what meat you would like to be cooked. Entertainment too. It was all going beautifully until the sun went down and a colossal amount of flies midges and mosquitoes came out, lots of other guests retreated inside. The hotel has a beach club which you use their shuttle to get there its about a 5 minute drive. Oh dear this really let's the hotel down, there are no cabanas as on the website, there was no food been served at the shack, the beach is OK, however there are still quite a few boats etc moored up. If they keep it it needs to meet the standards of the other hotels adjacent to it, I personally do not think it is necessary. We also used the spa. We enjoyed a Balinese massage, we highly recommend to use this facility. Prices for anything you purchase in Bali are subject to a government tax of 11% and then the business charge anything from 6-8 in our experience, and it is added after, so the price you see is not the final price. The hotel is spotless, we never saw any rubbish etc, during the whole of our stay. The staff play a major role in your stay and they have to be mentioned, I do not have many names, but there are 2 ladies in the Breakfast restaurant who take care of you as soon as you walk in. Staff on reception. Staff over in the beach bar restaurant. And the customer relations team. 2 in particular Evan and Demmy. Unfortunately for us they did not find us until the last 2 days of our holiday, but they did help enormously on those last few days. So we want to thank all the staff at the sakala resort for the most friendly welcome and unforgettable stay in Bali.…
