We stayed here for 2 nights in a cabin set amongst the trees. It was in very good condition with excellent facilities. The room was spacious and clean.
The hotel itself was really great. We prefer vegetarian food and the chef went to the trouble of providing two delicious savoury dishes for the evening meal along with a large variety of salads.
The staff were unbelievably helpful in every way. There is no wifi and we also had no phone coverage, and they were happy to assist us in making a booking at our next destination.
It is quite a drive to Cobbold Gorge from Forsayth and the dirt road is pretty rough. We do not have a 4WD and I would advise anyone not to attempt it in a street car. Fortunately the hotel and Gorge provided us with transport on their bus which was a fantastic option and we thoroughly enjoyed not only the drive but the excellent and informative commentary by the driver/guide.

We stayed here for 2 nights as part of our Gulflander & Savannahlander Tour package.
Given the size, history of the town to find an establishment of this quality was very welcome.
Our coach driver explained that the property had closed, was taken over and was now owned by the operators of Cobbold Gorge.
After our trip out there it is easy to see their attention to quality and detail applied here.
We stayed in unit 6 around back and these are very comfortable, clean, good size - great aircon.
Within our group there we those staying in the caravan park and other types of accommodation and all reported the quality and standard as very good.
The hotel bar and food area is outstanding and very while new it certainly fits in with the surrounding buildings.
We had dinner and breakfast (2 each) and the food selection and quality was very good.
Great well stocked bar and given all this it is easy to see why so many choose to stay here.
Location is excellent right across the road from the station and Forsayth itself is quite central to the regional attractions

Forsayth may be the end of the line when it comes to a trip on the Savannahlandet, but that doesn't mean that the accommodation and dining options are wanting.
The accommodation is what it is - small CLEAN well-appointed rooms that ensure a good night's sleep and the ability to scrub yourself up in the a.m.. It's not five star, but Forsayth isn't a city of 250,000+ people.
The meals on offer are good, solid pub fare - generous serves making the best of what can be got in outback Queensland (particularly the beef), with a more than acceptable vegetarian option. And barista coffee.
It did me!

We prebooked the Forsayth by Night tour which was $64 a head including a two course dinner. Arriving at 6.00 p.m as requested saw us not getting our meal (which was a pineapple pizza or supreme pizza and chocolate pudding) until after 7.00 p.m. and having to rush it to be ready for the tour. It took 15 minutes to line up to order our meals. Buying a drink later took 15 minutes. The pub was packed but there was simply a shortage of staff to cater for customers. Surely if there are x people staying in the accommodation part of the hotel and y people booked for the tour, management can determine the likely number of customers? After all, it is the only place to eat in town. The man who arrived to take the night tour pitched in and helped serve behind the bar to shorten the lineup. We then went on an hour long walk around the town by torch light hearing about the history of the town. The walk was a choreographed digital experience with several “characters” regaling us with humorous stories about the history of the town. It even concluded with a ghost story, based on real events. Without the tour this would have been a one star rating based on the service - which was virtually non-existent. The tour was fun. Was the evening worth $128 for two? That's debatable but you're not overwhelmed with choice and the tour was pretty well done.

Basic rooms but good service. There is a colony of frogs living in the block and they tend to show up in the toilet bowls. Please remember to keep the toilet lids shut and flush the toilets a few times before use (if you do not want to see the frog).

The good bits, Nicely laid out pub, Meals are OK and prices
reasonable, beer garden area is very good, the bar lady was
nice and very helpful.
The bad bits , disorganised booking process we booked by
email upon arrival “sorry no booking” after 20 minutes “we have found a room for you”, but you have to book for dinner (we did)
Dinner time “sorry can’t find your booking”
The bar ran out of 3 brands of Beer in the hour or so we were
there...... unforgivable.
Breakfast time “sorry no breakfast available” and without even
a toaster in your room, you do what in Forsayth ?
In summary it appears sort of leaderless a real pity

We stopped into the pub for dinner after a fantastic day at Cobbold Gorge.
Only one staff member meant there was a reasonably long wait at the bar to be served for drinks or food. While we waited we read the blackboard menu which was only grilled food, a choice of steaks, chicken schnitzel, beef schnitzel etc and pork chops, with the Wednesday special of roast dinner, a choice of chicken or beef.
When we were finally served we told them our choices only to be told ‘ there’s only chicken or beef schnitzel, take it or leave it!’
We were hungry and had a long drive ahead of us so we opted for a chicken schnitzel each.
It’s very difficult to ruin a crumbed chicken and chips but this place managed too. The chips were undercooked and were hard and cold in the middle and the schnitzel was mass produced frozen crap that was deep fried and over cooked and dried out.
Unhelpful, unfriendly staff and crap food means we definitely will never return.

This has been the slowest service ever i saw. 29 mins queue to get a drink in the evening. 22 mins wait for my wife to get one Egg? They cooking toast 2 slices a time, for 40 guests.
To me an example of management not caring about serving guests as they are the only option in town. Older folks stood waiting for so long. Most in our group are unhappy. Shame there is no option in town.
Rooms are fine and setting is fine, but the service is awful

Forsayth is a very pretty little town with so much history. The pub also includes petrol station, post office and shop as well as camping sites and cabins. The cost of the cabin was a little high at $133 per night but clean and modern. The young lady who looked after us worked very long hours but was so friendly and helpful. She ran from morning to night.
The pub did all the meals and served lunch and dinner.
My reason for 4 stars is that when I looked online it said the pub did breakfast so although we had taken food, we hadn't taken cooking facilities. There was no breakfast or any means of cooking it.
And there is nowhere else in town to buy breakfast. To be be fair, we were offered a toaster but decided as we were going to Einasleigh, ( they had advertised as serving breakfast) we would eat there. Unfortunately that was incorrect as the pub didn't open till 11am.
However, all that aside, it's a lovely place, the staff at the pub were terrific and the fault was ours for not being better prepared and throw in a camp stove. We'll know for next time.
But I do wonder how other visitor fare if they don't have a caravan, just a car.
