It was the end of the season, and the end of our first day walking the Queen Charlotte Sound track. Exhausted (we are no longer considered young), we stumbled into the green and welcoming Furneaux grounds. It was easy to tell we were at the end of the season as a obvious lack of people and an equally distinct casualness... More

Don't stay in the hiker cabins here! At $108 for two people these rooms are terrible value and frankly an embarrassment to this property. My partner and I could barely turn around in our room, the plaster was peeling off the ceiling, the blinds were burnt and the fluorescent ceiling light had no covers...not to mention the indignity of having... We stayed in one of the newish studio units (No.13) and this was very comfortable and quiet. Two gripes, one was that the bedroom lights including the bedside lamps were all linked so that you did not appear to be able to operate the bedside lamps separately, whilst the lovely bathroom had very little shelf space to put your toiletries... First night stopover on the Queen Charlotte hiking Track in Marlborough Sound. Spacious accommodation with a magnificent view. Expensive, but understandably so as everything is supplied by boat. Unfortunately a film crew were filming, taking over all the 'public' spaces. The lodge did let us know about this in advance so cudos to them. My only complaint was that there... More

A wonderful period holiday house which has been tastefully converted over the years into a hotel complex that has a great setting, quiet ambience, good quality chalets for guests, good standard of service, very good food [especially the evening meal, the breakfast was OK but not as good], and a decent selection of drinks. I was delighted by this place... More

Abit run down. Needs some tlc. Meal prices were expensive but food was great. Staff were mainly from overseas, friendly enough but abit disorganised. We were in a room with a double bed & room was tiny.

A very disappointing stay for a lodge perfectly positioned to do so much better. The impression immediately on arrival (after a stunning walk) was of staff who could not care less about providing a tranquil or relaxing experience. Stadium rock blearing out from speakers on the lawn with trance music, Joan Jet and a host of other completely inappropriate disturbing... More

After a great first trip here in January we rebooked only to be very disappointed with the service. Walking in from the beautiful QCT we were greeted with the most bizarre and incongruous loud music booming out of speakers on the front lawn. Both my husband and I, at different times queried the need for trance and rock music in... More

There is an assortment of accommodation here - all at top dollar. We stayed in the villas which are very old, and were quite dark. One unit in particular, unit 3 - needs TLC. Spacious units - with full kitchen facilities. Friendly and helpful staff particularly the cleaning lady. Great bar. Meals very expensive but large

Our group of 7 had a chalet and hikers cabin. They were in lovely setting with very well maintained gardens. We chose not to eat at the restaurant as had our own supplies (fortunately, as the meals are quite expensive). The bar and adjoining verandah were very nice and we enjoyed relaxing there with a drink. The nearby waterfall walk... More
