Found this B+B Bar and Bistro by a google search of the area and what a find. Pooley Bridge is a lovely little village at Ullswater. Our room was gorgeous, modern furnishings, excellent large rain shower, quirky bar area and dining room. All staff very friendly and attentive with a great choice at the bar...lots of gins! We were booked...

Had the most lovely evening staying at 1863 bar bistro. The rooms, food and hospitality all nothing short of 5*. Great village with lots of pubs and gift shops, perfect for a relaxing weekend or for getting your boots on and enjoying many walks and fantastic views of the lake District. Mark and Ann are fabulous hosts and very knowledgeable...

The food, service and atmosphere are all fantastic. Great food, tasty and beautifully presented. Cosy atmosphere and lovely friendly staff. A great find for an evening meal or for just a glass of red by the glowing log burner, a truly lovely evening!

Stopped here on our way home after a busy few days. Small but perfectly formed with very friendly staff. A very relaxing atmosphere throughout. We ate in the bistro and we were delighted; delicious food, well organised, welcoming and well worth the money. Breakfast was also excellent and in the sunny restaurant. Would highly recommend it.

It's not like me to rave about somewhere unless it is warranted and in this case it is. This is a small hotel/B&B that is family owned and run. In turn it is friendly with a relaxed atmosphere and great service. Our double room was large enough with a comfortable bed. We ate dinner in the restaurant- the food, presentation...

We found this little gem of a place whilst stopping at Ullswater Holiday Park in our hired motorhome. We were looking for somewhere nice to eat and wow did we find it. The place itself is stunning, the staff absolutely lovely and the food is amazing. I had the pigeon, followed by the fillet steak and for dessert I had...

First meal there was in January, my wife's Birthday. Second meal today, Mothering Sunday. Although they are trying to be upmarket with regards to their menu they fall short with consistency, plus the service really doesn't match what they are trying to portray. On each visit we had three courses and I'd say only one of which on both occasions...

A little confused by your review. Not sure what you think we are trying to achieve but from our prospective we are all about providing fabulous quality locally sourced food in a relaxed atmosphere, we don't portray ourselves to be fine dinning or silver service, it's not what we're about. We do listen to our customers and 99% love what...

This has to be one of the best places we have stayed at in the lake district. The rooms(number 3) were beautiful every small detailed is catered for, there is also a mini fridge. Beds were comfy, the rooms are maintained daily, and always to a very high standard. The bathroom/shower rooms looked amazing, again maintained to a high standard....

We have had 4 delicious meals at 1863. The staff are extremely welcoming. You walk into an intimate restaurant with a lovely fire. The presentation of the food is excellent and the meals delicious. We can recommend the beef fillet. We have found it a good place for someone in a wheelchair to enjoy an evening out. Thank you 1863.
