Wow! Sharrow Bay is amazing not only are the views superb but so is the food and staff. Came for afternoon tea and the all of the staff helped contribute to a fantastic afternoon, very polite and attentive. The food was fab and luckily was able to take what we didn't manage to eat home in a box. Would highly...

My wife and I were subsidised members of a party of six staying for one night. The party had been upgraded to the garden rooms. We were very lucky to be assigned to Harmony, the nicest of these rooms, though the room above it, Grace, was almost as nice. The third room was not so good. The room was good...

Nicely balanced taster menu, with particular credit for the cannon of lamb, the cheesecake and the pea soup amuse bouche. Warm and friendly service and a nice pace throughout. Dining room has intimate nooks and crannies, giving privacy but still a connection with other diners. Thankfully the pompous couple who couldn't keep their spat to themselves were wisely stowed away...

We stayed at the Sharrow Bay last night and had a wonderful time. First things first - the rooms. We were in a Garden room as, on line, they looked as though they were fairly large with a nice seating area. Well, I underestimated! I will quickly run out of superlatives when describing this. The 'room' was actually split over...

We stayed here last weekend to celebrate my wife's XX birthday, and could not have had a better location to do so. On arrival we were given a guided tour of the hotel to give us an idea where everything was - not essential, as it is quite a small hotel by today's standards, but a welcome touch of individuality....

Everything about this place from the moment you arrive oozes class. The setting is idyllic, the Hotel beautiful..and the staff excellent. Our room.....more a suite....Harmony..away from the main building was stunning...on the ground floor...with opening French doors looking out onto Ullswater. The decor was an eclectic mix of old and new that worked well giving a feel of opulence and...

We went for my friends birthday. What a lovely setting for lunch and we were lucky enough to have a window seat. They have a new lunch menu which is £22.50 for 3 courses. (Usually £65) It is called Sharrow bay through the ages. I have attached the menu. The food was fantastic, good service too. Wine a bit expensive...

We received lunch for two as part of a corporate package with a car company, and booked into the restaurant for the 'Sharrow through the ages' menu. Three courses, three dishes in each course, £22.50 each. Unbelievable value, but believe it we did. Great food beautifully presented. Extensive wine list too. And the icing on the cake was the sun...

Sharrow Bay continues to maintain the atmosphere and quality it has had for so many years and represents the essence of a country house hotel. We had one night here in March and enjoyed our visit very much. The comfort and quiet elegance of the place are exceptional. It is expensive as you would expect. The dinner and the breakfast...

Dear Douglas C, thank you for your positive comments about your recent stay with us. We note you booked through an external agency who are sometimes less than obvious in letting guests know where rooms are located despite our frequent requests they do so, (as we have three buildings). We appreciate you have taken such a positive view of your...

This was a special 'Birthday' treat. Evening meal only. Unfortunately our table was booked for the evening so we didn't see the hotel in all it's splendour. From welcome to farewell the ambience, service and especially the food was just first class. It is expensive dining but well worth it for special occasions. Unable to fault our visit just to...
