This homestay high up in the hills of Wayanad, on a working coffee plantation, manages to pamper you without being intrusive. The family are all exceptionally welcoming and mealtimes (especially dinner) at a large communal table on the verandah are a great opportunity to share stories. Garden rooms are decorated in an old-fashioned style that works well with the setting,...

This was a truly remarkable experience which combined 5 star service with genuine hospitality from Victor, Ajay and their families. The rooms are comfortable and cozy, the veranda a pleasure to sit and relax on and mealtimes an opportunity to get to know the family and other guests. Their are a series of well mapped out walks around the coffee...

What a beautiful homestay! My accommodation in the bungalow was first class. The hospitality shown by the owners was exceptional and the food to die for. A special mention for the care given to me when I had a migraine. Loved having the dogs for company on the walks. The trip up and down the mountain was tough going but...

A place to visit if you enjoy the peace and calm of greenery 360 degrees... Coupled with fantastic food (healthy and super yum) and a gorgeous pool if you dare to dive into when it's raining and cold :) The treks are a great way to work up an appetite (you will want to for sure!) and the dogs add...

We spent three wonderful days at tranquil. This was our first experience with a home stay and it surpassed all of our expectations. The family is very welcoming and it really felt as if we were eating at their table. The setting is beautiful and provided the perfect environment for three relaxing days after our hectic week in India. The...

The tree house at tranquil was one of our highlights for our trip in India, we highly recommend it off-season, when the price is apse very reasonable! The service is impeccable and the place is gorgeous...what else can you ask for? Meeting Ajay, ambassador of the Indian hospitality. The only issue we saw with Tranquil was the fact that you...

I was planning a family holiday during my trip to India on vacation. My son was very fond of tree houses and a great fan of tree house masters on National Geograhic. So we planned a secret holiday for him in the Tree "Villa" at Tranquil. Booking was done over email and phone and the process went very well. We...

We had planned to stay at the tree villa for 3N, had to leave after 2N, courtesy to terrible hospitality displayed and total dis-regard to traveler's request. Somehow I had overlooked an earlier feedback on the tripadviser about the arrogant attitude of the hosts. Spare you all with my freak experience, here's my suggestion to the traveler's to this place....

Dear guest, Whilst we appreciate and welcome feedback from our guests, we regret that we cannot agree with the views expressed, in this particular instance. It is unfortunate that we did not see eye to eye on certain issues, and wish you pleasant experiences in your future travels. May the many other testimonials speak for themselves. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
"RELIVE THE LIFE OF YESTERDAY"S PLANTER" Tucked away in the middle of a green expanse that makes up the 400 acre Coffee & Spices plantation of Kuppamudi Estate, is the stand alone home stay "Tranquil". The hideaway is a sprawling, fully refurbished planter's bungalow with an old world charm. A large annexe attached to the bungalow houses the guestrooms which have been subtly furnished to reflect the colonial past. The genesis of Tranquil was to offer discerning guests an opportunity to relive the life of yesterday's planters, in the exclusivity of a private estate. Your hosts, Victor & Ranjini Dey have lived the planter's life for 40 years and the homestay was started in 2000. They are now ably assisted by their son-in-law & daughter, Ajay & Nisha Mathulla. Tranquil' s uniqueness lies in the ambience created to make guests feel that they are at the home of a friend. To quote a guest's comment in the visitor's Book - "It is rare to cross the border from seclusion to inclusion - you have achieved that with grace and style." Much of the experience of Tranquil is to enjoy its serene unpolluted surrounds - be it lazing around the pool, lounging in a hammock, walking around the beautiful tropical garden, or venturing out on the numerous well marked out walking trails, with the excitement of seeing the Malabar hornbill - one of the 125 species of birds identified till date. The walks range in elevation from 2600 to 3500 Ft above MSL, the toughest being the "Braveheart Walk" which winds its way through the coffee fields to the very top of the hill to "lookout Rock", which offers spectacular views of the Wayanad. Being a working plantation, guest have the opportunity of joining Ajay for a plantation tour, during which you realize the efforts put into getting you that cup of coffee. After you get back, a relaxing therapeutic Ayurvedic massage is available for those who require it. Meal time at Tranquil is full of bonhomie with the family joining the guest for all meals. There are 4 large dining tables and guests intermingle, and conversation flows. The buffet table - a long single plank of Mango Wood measuring around 20 ft - is laden with food, ranging from continental to ethnic cuisine. The guest rooms - Deluxe, Suite and Standard - are very well appointed and one cannot help but notice the attention to detail, from the toiletries provided, right down to magazines in the bathrooms. Needless to say, housekeeping is impeccable. TRANQUILITREE - TREEHOUSE Nestled under the beauty of a Gul Mohr Tree, the structure rests on three trees, the largest of which is a Gul Mohr (Poinciana Regina). At a height of 45 ft from the ground level and overlooking a valley facing north, the entire structure measures 517 sq.ft, comprising of a bedroom, bathroom and verandah. Hot water is on tap , as also all other modern amenities, including a fridge & electronic safe. Adequate light and ventilation has been provided with insect screens on all openings. Approach is from an inclined gangway with railings, ensuring easy access for even the elderly. "TranquiliTree" is a stone's throw from the main house and is connected by intercom. Back up generator power has also been provided. SERENETREE - TREEVILLA The TreeVilla is 1080 sq.ft bedroom with a double bed and 02 single beds and a dressing area. It features 02 bathrooms - one with a panoramic view. The verandahs are 8 feet wide and offer beautiful views of the plantation. The TreeVilla features a TV, DVD, Satellite receiver, Tea/Coffee maker, electronic safe and is connected to electric main line. It is child friendly. Victor and Ranjini Dey have been married for 42 years, all of which have been spent on various plantations. They have always been house proud and have, over the years, had the unique opportunity of renovating / rebuilding 3 dilapidated plantation houses for their present employer, Aswati Plantations Ltd., with whom they been for 36 years. Being a hospitable and gregarious couple, the transition from Planters to Hoteliers came naturally. Ajay and Nisha also have a plantation background having worked in a large corporation for 8 years, and were employed by Aswati Plantations Ltd. for their new ventures in hospitality.
