Campgrounds were clean and rangers were friendly. Conveniently located in the park. Great hikes from the campsite and access to many more. Excellent get a way from the rush of normal day and you can be off the grid.

We booked through the parks agency nps.gov, well in advance as we were travelling at the height of the holiday season. We had a lovely spot for our 30 foot RV at Dorst Creek, well-maintained by the National Park service, with clean loos and fresh water provision. Sitting around the camp fire (a clean grill provided) surrounded by tall trees...

We were looking for a relaxing quiet getaway with a fire, the trees and the stars near the giant forest and this was a great location. It's on the north side of the main attractions and just far away enough to enjoy a the nature and stars. Pick a site that's higher than 60 and I recommend the 99 to...

We arrived around dinner time on Friday, and there were people in our spot. Well sorta. There's no real clear boundaries so the people above us had 4 tents, one of which was in our spot. The rangers didn't seem to care either. Luckily there's a space (on a slope) to the right where we setup. A little bit of...

Site 156 is more private, in the corner, surrounded by rocks, and backs up to forest. Our friends had that site which made it nice because we could just hang out on their site. The rest of the sites are VERY close together, especially in loop F. 150-159 are almost on top of each other. The picnic tables, fire pits,...

We stayed in Dorst Campground for 3 nights. Our place was 105...a very nice place...lot of space and near the bathrooms. In general you have enough space. The restrooms could be cleaner and no light in there. You can fill up your bottles and it's a quiet nice place to stay with friend or family. If you have no car...

We stayed in in a walk in site for 2 nights and really enjoyed it. The walk from the car to the site was maybe 30-40 yards, so yes we had to carry everything, but that was done in a few trips. The site had a good amount of privacy - we could see several other sites but we weren't...

Dorst is located little bit north of Lodgepole visitor center and main attractions, the campground is very big and nicely spread. Sites are big enough, each with fire ring and not too close to each other. I recommend to pick site at the corners, which are usually close to forest and easy accessible.

Dorst campground is in a lovely area very close to the Giant Forest (about a 15 min drive). We planned to camp at Lodgepole and utilize a walk-in site, but discovered that they no longer save walk-in sites past June 15th. Big disappointment! So we continued on driving and found Dorst Creek just north of Lodgepole. The first ranger we...

We picked this campground because we wanted to be close to sequoia and kings canyon. There are several loops and I highly recommend to pick one of the recommended sites on campsitephotos.com. There are over 200 sites but only about 8 or so recommended. We had site 142 which was on the rim offering views and some privacy. The best...
