I loved the fact that this campground was built with minimal damage to nature. There were so many elk around. The very beginning of the mighty Colorado River was right next to our campground. How cool is that?? No showers but there were flush toilets and sink which were very much appreciated. Of course the fact that this place is...

We decided to camp here for a night (after two nights at Moraine Campground). First impressions are rather depressing. A lot of the trees have been chopped off because of the beetle infestation. The campground is first come first serve and not having a map or a ranger to direct us (when we got there around 4 pm on a...

The campground on the west side of the park, nice spot. About 20 elk stopped in for a visit. It is. The overflow campground that doesn't take reservations. Loved it! Not far to drive from one side of the park to the other either.

We arrived quite late in the day, but it was no problem to get a campsite at all. Anything was clean and each campsite has its own firepit and picknick table. It's a great point to start hikes in the colorado river valley. On our departure day's morning there were some elk in the camp. :)

We stayed one night at Timber Creek while touring the park. The campground fills up fast, so I highly recommend getting a spot early (first-come-first-serve). The view is fantastic, as you're in the middle of the valley surrounded by mountains. In fact, my only complaint at all is that the sites are nearly completely open (no tree cover to speak...

We camped here for one night and absolutely loved it. The campground sells firewood, has flush toilets, recycling bins, and the Rangers were extremely friendly. In the evening and early in the morning there were close to 10 female elks at the campground. They were mostly grazing and were quite the spectacle. I loved every moment of it. Some campers...

We loved camping at Timber Creek Campground in mid June. We made sure to arrive early in the afternoon to get a campsite. There were plenty left at that time, even though it was a Friday. Elk grazed in the fields near our tentsite and bull elks roamed the campground in the evening and early morning.

We stayed for one night in September. Fire helped with the cold mountain night. We got in around 6:30 pm, so had enough light to put up the tent with beautiful sun before it hid behind the mountains. The area closer to the mountains loses the sun first, but also gains it first in the morning. We got a spot...

I can't say enough about this campground. We drove through the others on the other side of the park and they hardly compare to the open valley views you get with Timber Creek. And waking up to wildlife walking through camp!!! Wow...I will be back!

We were hoping we could get in on a 1st come 1st serve campsite and got lucky with Timber Creek on a Saturday morning. Our spot was towards the back against some trees so we had some shade, although we were gone most of the day so the sun wouldn't have mattered too much anyway. The sites have nice cement...
