We had a a Crater View Room (#27) with a King Sized Bed. Yes, the rooms are a little outdated, but I expected that coming here. Our bed was nice and comfortable. There is no AC, but didn't need it at all. At check in, we were given yummy mimosas which I thought was a nice touch and that staff... More

A room with no view, except on the parking lot, well over priced. After a positive experience at Grand Canyon Lodge, we decided to stay within the limits of the Volcanoes National Park. We made the wrong choice, accomodations in nearby Volcano village give more bang for the bucks. It also offers more restaurant options. We tested some of them... More

The room was very small (What you see in the picture is what you get!) and overpriced. The VIEW was a joke. You had to walk over to the front of the lodge and bring your binoculars. Do not waste your time or money. The room had a bed, 2 night stands, a small desk and one chair! Oh NO Refer... More

Volcano house has incredible staff. Every person I had contact with was positive and professional Too bad the property is run down. Historic hotels don't have to be tired and in need of updating. It looked and felt cheap. I had a view room ($385) and it was in tired, simply old and dated. Bed was comfortable, linens adequate decor... More

Don't let the fact that they have no air conditioning worry you, there is plenty of cool air & lots of windows. The staff was very attentive & friendly. The hotel is old but very clean. The views are amazing. We had the best meals of our entire trip at the hotel. I would definitely do it again.

Restaurant overlooking the caldera on the Big Island of Hawaii. A little over priced food, but very excellent views of the national park. Plan on spending at least 1/2 a day in the park, because it's very large, and there is lots to see.

The Volcano house is a unique experience- there is no where else you can have a room with a view of the sputtering Volcano! The rooms are rustic - housekeeping was not up to the price we paid - we thought with the sparse rooms that everything else would be over the top - that said- the place is quite... More

I loved my stay at Volcano House! The hotel itself has a historic and rustic feel to it. Keep that in mind if you are expecting a 4/5 star resort/hotel. You are paying for the unbelievable view day in and day out you get of the glowing and breathing caldera. The lobby has a beautiful seating area with large windows... More

Arrived on the evening to mimosas and freshly warm cookies! Room was basic and dated, sometimes a little cold but you won't spend any time in there anyway, so much to see and do around. The breakfast omelettes made while you wait are good but it can get a little busy especially on the Sunday we were there. Parking can... More
