The reason to stay here is the fantastic view of the volcano caldera. This amazing site can be seen on the hotel grounds and most rooms. Imagine breakfast overlooking the caldera while planning the days hikes. Return at night and dine to the red glow of lava. Better yet, relax in your room looking out the window at lava. Yes,...

This is a fantastic experience - where else can you see the glow of a volcano's lava lake from your hotel room?! You are at the top of a volcano so don't expect the modern amenities you normally would, albeit they do a pretty good job - rooms are fairly basic though almost on the rustic side. But who cares...

The hotel is right in the park and a two minute walk to the Visitors Centre. We had problems with getting the correct price and room that we had booked on line so ensure what you are getting is what you planned. The facility is nothing special, the beds were comfortable and you can see the crater from your window....

A chance to spend a night at a hotel in which Mark Twain once wrote? A view of a smoking lava-filled crater from my bedroom window? Sign me up! We stayed at Volcano House for one night in December and it was a highlight of my trip. An old historic hotel perched on the edge of a crater, the view...

We only stayed one night since I had read the reviews and new the rooms were very small and no TV's. The Hotel building was built in 1846? so you hear every step or up the stairs. Our room was near the stairwell so a set of earplugs was a must! I booked everything so I was not surprised the...

Just 3 miles from Volcano house is Namakanipaio Campground where you can rent small cabins or fall asleep to distant rumble of the boiling Kilauea lava lake in your own two person tent. You book the tents by calling Volcano House directly. You check in and check out at the hotel where they give you a key to the washroom...

We stayed here two nights right before Christmas and had a great time. The hotel is rustic and charming. The amenities are limited, but it is overall a National Park hotel. The walls are pretty thin so there is quite some noise (depending on how lucky you are with your neighbors). Pull out beds are not comfortable so sharing rooms...

You're really paying for the view in my opinion. The view is amazing on a clear night. The food is good, service good. The restaurant seems to be confused on what it is. It appears as a high end place, but it's not what I would consider a high end dinning experience it's about average.

We enjoyed our dinner, food was surprisingly good and we had a view of the caldera at night. Hostess was incredibly rude. The very nice waiter saved the evening for us. Atmosphere is ordinary except for exceptional view of volcano.

We enjoyed our two night stay very much. The restaurant is very good, staff very friendly and room was fine. Definitely not luxury, but where else do you get to wake up during the night to admire the volcano's red glow? We were satisfied with the accommodation, recognizing that the price covered location, not amenities and decor. My one complaint...
