The more remote North Rim offers up its beauty and solitude to those willing to make a little longer trek to cooler temperatures and greener vegetation of the Grand Canyon's less visited rim. Time means little here in this Nirvana for nature lovers…abundant forest beauty and wrap-around scenic splendor as sheer walls hold in the Colorado River a mile below. The only developed lodging within the National Park’s North Rim boundaries this historic treasure has cabins and lodging tucked into the trees and dotting the canyon edge. The historic dining room with wall to ceiling windows gives diners the unique opportunity to take in the Canyon's views and tasteful regional and sustainable delights for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Reservations are recommended. For guests seeking a unique remembrance of their visit to this special place, there is a gift store and convenience store located at the North Rim. Authentic Native American handcrafts, jewelry and merchandise that is U.S.A. made by local and regional artists provide an array of gift items for guests to the Grand Canyon. Smell the pines, listen to the fluttering leaves of quaking aspen, and keep an eye out for a California condor, the largest bird in North America. The North Rim of the Grand Canyon is only open from mid May to mid October.

This was a beautiful place. Could have been improved. No Wi-Fi. Cabins were clean and decent but
extremely overpriced. Inconvienent parking a long ways from cabins. Golf carts will take your luggage back and forth but expect to tip. My cart driver dumped all my luggage and belong

Words are inadequate to describe the beauty and majesty of this National Park. It is a unique destination - not on the way to anywhere. It has a variety of magnificent log cabins from which to choose. It's not crowded, higher than the South Rim and the views are truly breathta

What a great location! The lodges are great! Loads of parking. We were in a group of 8 we got rooms close to each other. But the down side starts when you go for dinner! Only food outlets are in the main bit. Every thing is self service, which is not a bad thing looking at the re

This is the ultimate place to experience mindfulness. You can't help but be in awe of nature's beauty and stillness at the North Rim. We checked the online system daily until we got a cabin facing the Rim. Room 310 was an amazing cabin! You will pay more but your experience wi

Cabin 310 - Best Ever with North Rim views
Outside of our western cabin
I've seen reviews of the cabins that recommend a certain specific cabin # because of the views. Is this really worth doing and will they accommodate the request when making reservations? Also, what is the layout of the two bedroom? Is there enough privacy for two adult couples to share a two bedroom cabin?
A canyon view cabin may be reserved and is well worth the small additional cost.

Does anyone know what times the verandah menu is served between and is it any good?
How late at night can you check in to the lodge?
Funny you should ask...a couple of weeks ago we grossly underestimated the distance we were going to drive on the night we were checking into the North Rim. We let the lodge know (when we had cell service) that we were on our way but we’d be there late. We didn’t want them to give our cabin away. They said it was fine and they are there all night. (24 hour front desk service). We finally made in around 2 am. We contacted them several times during the last couple of hours if our trip. We were warned about the wildlife that hangs out on the roads late at night. It was a slow go because we saw a lot of wildlife-mostly mule deer. They specifically warned us about buffalo - we saw them, but not until the morning. It’s dark and the roads are winding. Be careful, I wouldn’t do it on purpose!

Do the lodge rooms have air conditioning?
Ours did not. We had the window open a little bit and was plenty cool then. We were there the end of May. We stayed at one of the cabins closest to the lodge.
