Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We made reservations about six months ahead of time to camp here. The campground is located in a pine forest inside the Grand Canyon national park, so it is very convenient to the free bus lines that run along the south rim. There are no hookups, so most of the campers were in tents. We have a small pop up camper, and loved that most of the sites are drive through. It was very quiet at night. I was glad that we selected a site near the restrooms since that was the nearest location to get water and to dispose of trash. Due to dry conditions, no open fires were permitted, which included grilling with charcoal. That forced us to change our eating plans, but was totally reasonable. With our senior park pass, this was the most affordable place to camp that we have experienced in years! Definitely would camp here again if visiting the south rim, but be sure to make reservations well ahead of time.

Staying at the Grand Canyon on a budget can be hard, but if you camp at Mather Campground it's easier to save some money for those nifty souvenirs.

The camp was great, every site seemed to have plenty of space and your neighbors were not so close to your camp that they were disturbing. It's a short drive or walk from the general store where you can buy just about anything you need for your camp. Showers were closed due to Covid so it was a little bit more of a rugged experience, but we were informed of that well before arriving.

The only downside to it is that it is a bit of a walk from the Rim and finding your way can be troubling at times. This wouldn't be an issue if the Shuttles were working, but due to Covid these were not running on their full normal routes.

This was our first time to camp here and we enjoyed it. The campsite was very tidy, with a good clear spot for the tent. Ravens are a bit of a pest but keeping things put away prevents problems.

The bathrooms and dumpsters were easy to get to, and very clean. No hot water in the bathroom, otherwise fine.

The laundry facility is large and the machines work well

Showers are $2.50 for five minutes.

It was a pleasant 15 minute walk into Grand Canyon Village from our site in Pine Loop.

This was such a great place to camp. We were tent camping and stayed in Pine Loop, which is tent only and no generators allowed. It allowed for a relaxing experience. We were there in late August 2021. There were only three other sites occupied near us, so it was very quiet! We were in site 314, which is close to the restrooms.
Restrooms were adequate. They could have been cleaner, but they served their purpose. There is a hiking trail that will take you to the market, so you don't have to drive if you don't want.
The easy access to the Rim Trail from the campground was greatly appreciated. We were able to get up around 6:30am and be at the Desert View Watchtower in about 25 minutes. At every viewpoint we were one of the only people there.
There are a lot of wild animals that make their way though the campground. You MUST put all of your food in a storage box or take it with you in your car when you leave your site fo the day or it will get attacked.
Overall, this is an amazing camping experience. No electrical hookups means you can actually unwind and experience life.

Amazing campground. Showers at the front with laundry off season hours last shower at 545 pm FYI off season starts 10/16/23.
Nice campgrounds. Definitely going to stay here again. Aspen loop #59 was perfect. You have a fire pit, can bring your own wood. Near restaurants and the store and they are walking distance. Bus is close too.

Absolutely beautiful! Easy friendly check in. Clean sites and facilities. Elk are all around. Peaceful. The General Store has everything you need....foods, drinks, ice, wood, meats (all groceries), souvenirs, deli, bank and post office. There ate picnic tables and fire rings. Great shaded areas. Very close to the canyon. Free shuttles to the sites.

This campground is close to the Grand Canyon Village. The campground itself is in need of road repairs. Our spot was excellent. We were on #172 in the juniper loop. There were 2 bathrooms near. One had a sink for dishwashing and the dumpster for garbage. There were always Elks near our spot just eating grass. Also very large Ravens . It can get pretty cold at night but the daytime temperature was great. There’s a bike trail that takes you to the rim trail. You can ride all the way or catch the red line shuttle to the other scenic areas. Best time for shuttle is after 2pm. There’s a market in the village that sells just about everything and there’s a tavern across the market that has good beer and food.

Largely wooded and pretty, yet all sites are paved pullouts along road. No firewood etc on site so have to go to store. Walked all the way to showers to find out they were closed. Other campgrounds had them open- when are we going to stop using Covid as an excuse for decreasing costs??

I had booked online and everything was perfect. Got my Campsite which was close to both Drinking Water and Restrooms. It rained on one of the nights and my tent did not hold up with the runoff but all in all, It is a wonderful space with tall trees and occasional Elk sightings. Close to the Market so it was very good. Bus/Shuttle service was erratic on account of the Pandemic but still would recommend for Camping
