Sperry Chalet has been a thirty-year conversation that is now, finally, a check mark on the bucket list! Great experience and highly recommend it. The trail is approximately 6.5 miles and is a moderate to difficult depending on your age and health. We had weather issues so we packed for hot to light snow conditions, and our first morning was... Sperry is located at a beautiful location along the hiking trail between Jackson Glacier overlook (on the Gunsight Pass Trail) and the Lake McDonald Lodge. It lies a few miles below the Sperry Glacier with lovely views of Lake McDonald. You will find wonderful scenery and cool wildlife (see my note below on writing reviews about National Park properties). But... More

We wanted a back country experience minus the tents etc. Long uphill hike on first day but a great place to spend 2 nights. It's not for everyone but it was exactly what we wanted. Friendly staff and a full complement of guests with a similar interest in exploring the area and having some creature comforts - excellently prepared meals,... More

We had the BEST time!! The hike up is a cardiovascular killer! Straight up! Although God must be listening to the cries for help because the switchbacks are helpful😀🎉❤️🍀 The chalet is gorgeous! The staff is incredible! They smile nonstop and are so kind and caring. My son has allergies to foods and they bent over backwards to make him... More

THIS PLACE ROCKS!!! What a pleasant surprise it was to find this little gem tucked away, 1/3 of a mile from our camp. We were a group of hikers that were tired, hungry, and cold. This place saved the day! Very tasty and reasonably priced "hot" sandwiches. They even made hot water for us to enjoy our own coffee and... More

We just returned from our 10 day vacation to beautiful Glacier National Park. One of the highlights of our trip was our stay at the Sperry Chalet. We were lucky enough to have secured a two night stay when the reservations opened this past January. The hike up to the chalet was challenging considering the elevation gain, but the views... More

Travel to Sperry Chalet and disconnect! There are so few places left in the world where internet and power are not available. It was such a treat to spend the night in one of those places. We are a family of 5 (ages 54 to 14) with three teens who have quite a hard time detaching from their cellphones. This... More

Make no mistake... this hike to Sperry Chalet is NOT for the weak... officially it is a 6.4 mile hike, but from your car, and zip zagging up the hill, (and avoiding the manure, because this is also the trail the horse take up to the chalet!) I measured over 7 miles. This is a 3300 elevation climb. The first... More

This hotel is at the 6000 foot level and a hefty hike up hill from Lake McDonald. The trail itself isn't very pretty or scenic, but that's not the point. The point is to reach the Chalet and either enjoy hikes from there or just stay a night in this unique setting before hiking out. Staff members are super friendly,... More

There is no other place like this. Of course it lacks the amenities of a Holiday Inn--that's not what you'r'e here for. If you do even a little homework, you know what you're getting into. This site requires at least a three to five hour hike, six and a half miles from Lake McDonald. The location is absolutely breathtaking. The... More
