Ride the bus 92 miles to Kantishna. We saw Grizzlies, caribou , Dahl sheep, and moose. A very sunny day we saw McKinley from every angle! A good lunch at the roadhouse. Forgot the name of our very entertaining driver/hostess but she made the trip memorable! Enjoy the chocolate chip cookies!

My husband and I stayed for the last 2 nights the roadhouse was open for this season. Of course the drive in is part of the experience but no one warned us that in parts the road falls on the down hill side quite dramatically- the road itself is very well maintained but if you're scared of heights be sure...

We ate here as part of your 12 hour tour. The soup was very good, cookies were very good. They need to address the wraps. It had one slice of meat, cheese and way too much lettuce filler, If you could not eat the lettuce you have a very skimpy wrap left. That was the common complaint of the people sitting...

The best guides are at Kantishna! During our September 2016 visit, we were awed by the extent of the knowledge of the staff. Kirsty is not just a bus driver -- she is a wilderness guide, wildlife spotter, and an accomplished photographer. Kristen is a professional with deep knowledge of flora, fauna, and geology. Ask for her to be your...

we spent 3 days at the Roadhouse and enjoyed the great scenery, the guided hikes, nice food and comfortable & cozy cabins. Our Denali experience started with the 6 hour bus drive into the park. Our driver, Christine, told lots of interesting stories and was great at spotting wildlife. She stopped the bus whenever there was a a bear /...

This is an accommodation for people who enjoy being outdoors in Alaskan wilderness. Several guided hikes of varying degrees of difficulty are offered every day, and all three of the guides we had were excellent--young people who knew their stuff and absolutely love their work. There are also bikes and maps for people who want to hike on their own,...

Second time in Denali. First time deep in the park. This is the place. The staff are all young, enthusiastic naturalists. They are cool...not just to their age group, but to ours (('m 63). I had the time of my life. My wife, sister-in-law and brother-in-law would attest to the same. Go for it. You will love it!

There are only a couple wilderness resorts that are 90+ miles into Denali National Park. Other hotels/motels are outside the park. I booked 4 months out and our first choice was unavailable but we were able to find 3 days at Kantishna Roadhouse. We flew into Anchorage and the next day drove to the pickup point in Denali National Park...

Thank you for taking the time to leave this great review! It is always nice for future travelers to see such detailed reviews. Mark was the most entertaining tour guide, as well as driver. We had nothing but sunshine, and we saw everything(except a wolf--can't have it all) but multiple sightings of moose, bears, caribou, Dall, ptarmigan, not to mention 100% views of Denali from every angle. The lunch service was great--thanks Marie and John! as well as Amanda with the gold-panning activity. What a beautiful lodge at the end of such a scenic drive. As older adults, my wife had concerns about such a long bus ride, but it ended up being the highlight of our visit to Alaska. Our actress/naturalist/bus driver (Melanie) kept us entertained the whole way, along with some great wildlife and Denali views. Don't miss this excursion!
