We stayed here for three nights in December and had a great time. The lodges were spacious and comfortable, the food was good, the staff were friendly and helpful. The safaris were excellent and we saw lots of animals on every drive including close up encounters with elephant, rhino (black and white), lion and many more. The ranger assigned to...

Stayed in Suite 1, a large and very comfortable room. Food and staff were excellent. Included 2 game drives per day. Game rangers were very knowledgable. Saw lions, elephant, rhino and lynx. River lodge has a very nice atmosphere.

Very enjoyable stay at Kariega. Well organised safaris - and made hugely enjoyable by our guide Ben. We saw lions, rhinos, hippos, giraffe, elephants, zebra ... but what captured my heart was a female leopard tortoise slowly and patiently digging a hole... maybe to lay eggs? Would love to know how she got on. Final night had a BBQ -...

We stayed here for two nights on safari and we loved it! We had our own lodge that was very comfortable and clean and we got to do four safari drives. We saw lions, giraffes, rhinos and elephants among others and could get very close to the animals. Our guide Thomas was very knowledgeable, experienced and patient so we got...

I went for an African game experience promised by the website and was surprised by the reality of this experience: - A "Private Game Reserve" is a zoo or game park in the UK, all the animals having been bred in captivity. Most showed none of the the usual wild herd behaviour that I expected. - The numbers are managed...

We would like to let readers know that Mr Schulz wrote his review based on ONE 3-hour game drive and a two night stay at Kariega. His wife choose not to join on any game drives. The couple did not experience any other safari activities with us including guided bush walks or river trips. Decide for yourselves how to take...

Kariega River Lodge enjoys a beautiful position on the river. We received a warm welcome on arrival and in spite of arriving at around 2.30 pm were immediately offered lunch. At 4pm we were experiencing our first game drive with Dosani and for the next 3 days we saw the Big 4 (no leopards here) at incredible close quarters. Dosani...

Game drives: They start early (mornings) but it's worth spending the morning out there in the park. Of course it's a fenced area, however it never felt artificial or awkward to me. It's not 100% 'human-free' nature, but who really expected 'wild jungle'?! It's an well structured area with stunning views. We've seen the big 4 out of 5. Most...

We visited Kariega River Lodge at the end of our Garden Route tour of the Cape. Talk about saving the best until last! The warm welcome set the scene and our thatched room was comfortable but you do not come here for the room! Let’s get straight to it, the game Safaris are superb and our ranger Zolani enhanced the...

We stayed at Kariega River Lodge for 2 nights and we absolutely loved it ! From the moment you check-in until the very end of your stay, you can really feel that everybody working there are extremely passionate about what they do. We particularly liked the fact that only a reduced group of people can stay in the lodge as...
