Detailed Reviews
Thus is my 3rd and final stay here which is a shame as the area is lovely.
Filthy toilets, old and smelly. Not cleaned regularly and there are only 2 toilets and 2 v old showers. The woman owner is incredibly rude and seems to look for reasons to publicly tell you off. I have experienced her rudeness 3 times now and that's enough. We are a small quiet family by the way.

We found this a lovely place to stay, surrounded by trees and birdlife. Facilities are old but fine. Dallas, the male manager is lovely and very accommodating. In fact our group was having a wonderful time sitting around a campfire having a quiet drink and a yarn, until the lady manager came to tell us to turn the music down at 7.15pm when we didn't think it was very loud. This really put us off our entire stay, especially when we had to put up with lots of other people making excessive noise at all hours of the night (partying, banging, what sounded like fireworks or cars backfiring), one set of parent's incessant yelling at their kids and young kids in the showers at -11.30pm, other dogs not on leashes at all when our two little dogs were watched closely by this lady, and the piece de resistance - a young couple's ridiculously loud, long and embarrassing lovemaking - ALL WITH NO MANAGERS STOPPING THEIR FUN! We could have put up with most of these things and would have loved to visit again, but not after being told off by this rude lady.

Recently stayed at Tamborine Mountain Caravan & Camping within Thunderbird Park at Mount Tamborine.
What a place, Real bush heaps of birds and nice clean amenities. This camp ground is on the upside of the road through the Park. Campers on the bottom side were in the Thunderbird Park Camping area a totally different site and from the comments from Campers a totally different experience. Amenities were fitly and a long walk from a lot of the sites.
Laundry facilities were that good they and the clothes lines were used by both sides.
We had wet weather for near the entire time and decided to backup a day early and to my surprise
was refunded for the last day. Great Host. Enjoyable stay and will be back on the top side of the road.
PS longest wait to use the amenities was about 1 minute.

Set close to tropical rain forests on top of Mt Tamborine and away from hustle and bustle. Close to everything including shops, rain forest and waterfall walks, and Gold Coast itself. Cheap at $20 per couple per night for in powered site and $14 powered in peak season so I am guessing even cheaper off season. Amenities available and clean however in peak season they could certainly have a few more than the 2 showers and 2 toilets. I highly recommend this place for a cheap stay and I hope to visit it again myself in time to come.

I booked and paid for 3 nights. Unfortunately, on the first night I was unable to get to the camping due to a motorbike break down. I emailed the camp ground at about 2:45pm to let them know that I couldn't get there that day but would be there the second and third nights of my booking. I received no response.
I tried to phone at around 3pm on the second day to confirm I was coming (having just been informed that my motorbike having just been repaired). No answer and no response to my phone message.
I went to the campground anyway expecting that a key and instructions would be available given that they were going to leave them out on my first night. Neither were available. I ended up having to pay for camping at the other campground next door.
I now feel totally ripped off. I have left a phone message asking for a refund of my second and third night camping fees given that the camp ground managers failed to respond to my emails and phone calls or leave me instructions for where to camp or a key for the bathrooms.
Sure, the first night was my problem but the second and third were due to the camp managers' total lack of response to my email and phone correspondence. I have emailed to demand a refund of nights 2 and 3 accommodation and am investigating my consumer rights.

This review can be equally assigned to Thunderbird Park camping as both properties share the same plot of land. The facilities are old and heavily stressed as legitimate residents and those from the adjacent camp ground are all using the same amenities. They are fairly clean but in need of repair and enlargement. There is signage asking residents to not open the door to people without a key but the showers are constantly full as are the toilets and laundry. Made especially difficult because there is no running water at the sites of the other ground so these people are constantly in need of filling water containers for their camp-sites.
Despite the loveliest managers living onsite nothing can be done and nothing can detract from the constant, loud and distracting noise of motorbikes as they enjoying racing up and down the mountain road that goes along the entire length of the backside of the camp ground. 24 hours of motor bike engines revving ensures there is little bird life, no wildlife and the only thing worse than this noise is the abundance of bogan weekenders whose idea of camping is copious amounts of beer, fire wood, and late night revelling often ending in domestic spats. Another thing the on site managers do nothing to control.
If you're looking for an opportunity to enjoy the beauty of the area don't do it here.

Pam and Dallas sure know what a glamping experience is! My friend and I went for a couple of nights at the end of the school holidays, to give our kids a bit of nature time, we are not into putting up tents, but love camping! These Safari tents are amazing! What more could you want when "camping" than a fridge/freezer, microwave, power, fan, lounge, BBQ, table &chairs all on a deck, PLUS a very comfy double bed and a set of bunks for the kids?! 😄 We had a great catch up while the kids went on a three hour high ropes course, then off for a swim in one of the water holes, back for a BBQ, and smores over the fire pit for desert!
Awesome time had by all, will be definitely be back!
Thank you so much Pam and Dallas xx

We stayed at the Cedar creek / Thunderbird Park caravan and camping park April 2014. There are two adjoining parks, the other is managed by another family and it has the title of Mount Tamborine caravan and camping, but the grounds are at the same place - within Thunderbird Park adventure centre. It was a very busy pre-Easter school holiday period and the park was packed. There are only 2 toilets and 2 showers for male and another set for female. The facilities are not clean at all and you have to pay for hot showers - although this at least keeps people from wasting water. We were on a powered caravan site and we felt we were on a main road in the city it was so busy. There seemed to be no policing of speed and we put our own 'slow down' sign outside our campsite in an effort to not have our children run over. The two staff cars - one a cleaners car and another the kitchen van were the worst, they would speed along with no concern for anyone. Our friends stayed in the bush lodges. There was no bbq and the place was very unclean and not well maintained. They cleaned the washing machine before use.
The actual environment is absolutely beautiful, and the walks etc are lovely and really worth the trip; the town is also gorgeous. You just get the feeling that the park is only out for what they can get from you - the ATM charges $2.50 for use, Laserskirmish is great, but again there are extra charges; Treetop challenge was great, but not many staff and when you ask for help it was slow coming and very impatient. Our friends ate in the restaurant and were very disappointed at the service and the poor quality of food. For a major tourist area we got the feeling that it was all about the day visitors and those in the luxury lodges - us campers and the facilities supplied were not important at all.
Having said the shortcomings - many of which could be fixed up with some effort, it is wonderful to be able to have camp fires (of course you pay through the nose for wood) and the experience of camping in a glorious environment. If you forget the cost, Laserskirmish was heaps of fun and had a very friendly staff member (yes just one) and the Treetop challenge was a great experience. Our friends did the bush trail ride with horses and enjoyed that very much. It is a great family adventure type trip, but you need to budget in those extra costs. Don't do the Skywalk attraction further up the rode, you can get the same experience on the free National Park walks. This would be a great place if the management put a bit more effort and attention into the campers.

Location was nice, back to nature style camping. Each campsite is provided with a fire pit where we can get good fire from fire wood (wood can be purchased at the reception). We enjoy 2 nights camping and there is also a creek that we can enjoy. The creek is flowing with crystal clear water and is very refreshing to take a dip during summer. Shower facility is good, but we have to walk a little bit uphill every time we want to shower. Overall, we are very happy with this place.

We booked this off the internet, photos of camping grounds looked awesome. Very deceiving as creek was not what was showed, camping grounds very average compared to other camping sites. Camping on mostly dirt, also grounds not well kept. We ended up paying $170 to camp one night cause we couldn't stand to stay there any longer than the one night. Activities surrounding awesome but very expensive for families
