Louise & Hideyo are the perfect hosts, we stayed with them for our wedding anniversary. I was excited to find their retreat as we had honeymooned in Tokyo, staying at the Imperial. So our expectation of Japanese service and food was high, but we were not disappointed. Everything was beautifully presented, from the entire property, to each and every detail, the amazing breakfasts, incredible dinner and little touches, like glasses of champagne for our anniversary dinner, gorgeous tableware, Japanese incense and candles and special oil for the traditional soaking tub. The linens and towels, the meticulously tidy room, and Louise and Hideyo’s welcoming, low key but attentive hospitality, they are just beautiful people, who made you feel part of something special. This was a perfect getaway, romantic, classy and inspiring, we stopped at the Asian grocery store on the way home, ready to try out some of the lovely, delicate dishes Hideyo had generously answered each of our questions on.
The property is quiet and intimate, we watched classic old movies curled up on the huge lounge in front of the fire, soaked after hiking in the amazing tub, and explored Tamborine, coming “home” knowing there was another exquisite meal waiting either for breakfast or dinner each day.
Yumeji is a one of a kind experience, an unbelievably beautiful experience that leaves you with a lasting feeling of joy.

I spent two nights recently with my mother for a much needed retreat. Louise and Hideyo went over and beyond the call of duty to ensure our stay was a memorable experience. The rooms were well appointed and yes for a while transported us to a make believe trip to Japan.
A must try is the wooden bath made from Cypress timber in the Tsuru room. It elevates soaking to another level.
The stay includes breakfast and the presentation was a feast for the eyes and every bit as delicious. We also had dinner and it didn't disappoint. Artfully created and presented, wow!
If you're a fan of things Japanese or simply want a novel experience, Yumeji is highly recommended.
I would go again and bring hubby along the next time.
A lot of care and love has been invested by the owners into this accommodation so that every guest goes away feeling pampered and satisfied. I give five stars. Thank you Louise and Hideyo.

This is the ultimate Japanese getaway without leaving the country. We were greeted with such great hospitality and felt very welcome and were very well looked after. We stayed in the traditional tsuru suite and loved it. The beautiful breakfast was a whole another level of amazing. This will be an unforgettable experience that my partner and I will cherish. We so highly recommend this retreat and hope to return in the future.

My husband and I stayed here for two nights mid week. The decor was outstanding and the breakfast was out of this world. Having been to Japan ourselves a few times for extended periods, our expectations were high and we were not disappointed in the slightest. The hosts were wonderful and accomodating and as a result we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Wow!! What a beautiful retreat. So peaceful & surrounded by nature & birds singing.
The hosts Louise & Hideyo where so welcoming & very lovely. We received a lovely small gift when we left.
The breakfast was probably the most yummiest I’ve ever had. A combination of
Japanese/Australian cuisine.
Delicious! Plus the fresh juice & coffee, green tea.
Outdoor spa, beautiful gardens, the rooms are beautiful & roomy.
We cannot recommend this place enough.
Worth a weekend or a few days away.
Close to town.
Thank you so much.
Shelley & Scotty.

The owner couple Louise and Yonezawa san was friendly and welcoming. We stayed for our 1year anniversary and so glad we have chosen a right place. Spa was amazing, nice and warm. Perfect after bushwalking.
Had breakfast and dinner. Very traditional Japanese style and loved every bit of it. My partner has never been to Japan but he enjoyed everything about this place. Definitely coming back again.

We stayed for 2 nights in the Taki room. Taki is a biggish room with a very large bathroom and a nice patio area overlooking the spa. The premises are very nicely set out and decorated with traditional Japanese furniture, though this room has a western bed and sofa. The rooms have everything that you would want at a very high standard. The value is quite extraordinary.

The retreat is within about a 5 minute stroll of Gallery Walk, the main shopping part of Tamborine and a few km away from some very nice restaurants. There are also plenty of views and parks and other sites within walking distance or a short drive.

The hosts are lovely and we really felt at home. Things are private enough to have your own time, you'd barely know anyone else was there save for breakfast really, which is just spectacular.

We have stayed at many ryokans in Japan over the past 10 years, but I dont think that we have ever had breakfasts as high in quality as these. Just amazing, they couldnt be better.

It is worth going just for the breakfasts, but if you are pining for a Japanese experience but cant go to Japan, this is the place for you. We are certain to visit again soon.
