We headed out of Darwin for a day trip to Crab Claw Island. We had lunch at the restaurant and the meals were well priced and a plenty. The view is great and the staff very friendly. We wandered around the resort and decided that our next visit north will include a few nights stay. The facilities are good, view is lovely and boats can be hired for a bit if fishing if that’s what you like. Definitely will return again.

We have been to Crab Claw 3 times over the past 3 years (we live in Darwin) and every time we go it’s fun but every time we return home I say it will be the last time I stay overnight. Why? The cleanliness of the cabins is non existent! The bar/restaurant has an amazing view and the food is incredible. The location and pools are fantastic. It’s the best place for a fun weekend away with you friends. However, the cabins are PUTRID! The first time I stayed was back in July 2021, we had a good time but the cabin was very basic and run down. The second time I stayed (Jan 2023) while I was pregnant. Bed was comfy and air con was good but the room was filthy. The most recent trip (Oct 2023) we had a baby so again we chose a cabin over camping purely for the air con. The actual cabins are so run down and we had a filthy room again. The worst parts of this stay were: - There were food stains and chunks (so not even washed and just stained) on the blanket they put on the bed. It had clearly not been washed between guests. - The toilet wasn’t cleaned and there was the precious guest poo splashes on the toilet seat! WTF. - There was a half drunk open milk in our fridge. - There was mould in the bathroom on the door frames. - Spider webs everywhere in the room. - The sliding glass shower screen door was missing the middle panel. - The cabin floor hadn’t been swept or vacuumed. You could see it had dust and hair on it and felt you feet get dirty walking on it (and I’m not a clean freak). - The room wasn’t ready for our 2pm check in until after 2pm. - They forgot our meals at the restaurant, and when I let the staff member know we were still waiting he brought out the kitchen receipts to show me as though to show me I wasn’t telling the truth, and I was like, “mate, you literally took my order and payment”. Food was good when it eventually came out. Overall, Crab Claw is great for a day trip but not for an overnight stay unless you are camping. The cabins are expensive for what they are and they are actually filthy.

We stopped here as part of a helicopter pub crawl. Lovely beach view and a great location. While we only had a drink here I would certainly consider coming here to stay overnight. It’s not a luxury resort by any definition but it looks like it would be a fun and relaxing place to stay.

This place is amazing! We stayed for 3 nights in our caravan and could have stayed longer! Sites are big, well priced and have a nice outlook, with lots of wildlife to admire. Two pools which our children swam for hours in. The staff are all very helpful, especially Erin and Jordie. The larger restaurant deck has a great view of the beach and water. Food is amazing and well priced. We hired one of the boats which was a great day out catching a few fish and a mud crab, which for a small fee the restaurant cooked for us adding chips and salad, a real feast. Loved it!

We were enticed to join this day trip with 2hr ferry trip from Darwin, mainly for the “sumptuous seafood buffet”. Alas, the prawns were tasteless and almost inedible and the sign at the buffet limits oysters to 2 per person!! I think 6 oysters would be the MINIMUM until everyone had some. The barramundi and flathead fish were lovely and the deserts delicious. Crab claw island need to “lift their game” if they want to encourage more guests to their buffet.

We stayed here for two days and it was absolutely beautiful. The restaurant is lovely with ann amazing view of the beach and it was really relaxing. Jordy and Erin the hosts were so were welcoming and they gave 2 hats and a fishing shirt to the kids as well as complimentary garlic and salad. The staff were also so kind and helpful. The food is good and well priced and 10 dollar breakfast is very good and cheap. Definitely recommend this place

A great spot for accommodation and a cold beer. Watching crocodiles swimming up and down in front of the resort was a highlight. Sunset on the deck of the pub was a highlight! Great food and staff were amazing!

What a great place to chill out for a few days! We hired a tinny and caught plenty of fish and spent a day exploring Litchfield National Park. Great meals at the bar and excellent service from John and all the staff!

What an absolute joke! We said last time we wouldn’t be back but stupidly stayed again. We have lived in Darwin for years and always like to support local. The place is filthy, run down, hazards galore (and no I grew up out bush and are not ‘precious’) Last time we visited was also a long weekend where it seems cleaning toilets and restocking soap and toilet paper is not worthwhile doing properly ‘until everyone goes’. Yes this is what I was actually told last time by a staff member, this weekend appears to be the same mentality. My partner said there is no soap at all in the mens, just a busted soap dispenser and filthy toilets. A camper was apologising to me in the toilet because she was washing dishes in the hand basin, asking me ‘is there another camp kitchen here somewhere with a sink?”. Sadly, no. Just the putrid excuse for a camp kitchen with no place to wash up. The whole place is filthy! Especially at the bottom of the kitchen and it stinks. There are weeds and unkept areas I would not call a garden, and bits of rubbish that you can tell have been there for ages, right at the main area at the restaurant. This weekend there was a group of handicapped people there. One of the main staff members used abusive foul language directed at one of these people because they put some rubbish in the wrong bin. If not for my partner giving this staff member a look of “are you SERIOUS??” Who knows what other verbal abuse would have followed. As for the meals they were absolutely disgusting. What a total waste of money. We are far from a fussy family yet that food was so foul none of us ate our meals. When the plates got collected the staff member was totally oblivious to the fact the plates were untouched yet we were “finished”. We were all too disgusted to waste our breath complaining when we thought “well, serves us right - we did second guess coming back again” So much chit chat around Darwin when I mention Crab Claw is how it’s “gone to the pack” and this isn’t just recently. For a place that advertises a high profile experience with choppers flying in etc it’s a total joke. If it wasn’t for the beach itself the place has nothing going for it. The run down rooms, amenities and infrastructure, shocking rude arrogant staff are what exists apart from the view. The so called bar looks like a fridge that belongs in the kitchen with food in it. One side is full of glassware, the other side a pathetic array of unpopular selection of beers etc. No actual ‘bar’ ie beer on tap. We asked for several extremely basic beverages (non alcoholic) mixers as well etc that the most remote bar or pub would have but Crab Claw- no. The bar fridge should like a total shambles, so unattractive. As for the endless “we’ve run out of this” or “run out of that” excuses - it ain’t that far from Darwin!! The pools have a permanent scum line around them and it appears that ‘cleaning’ them is by way of a massive overdose amount of chlorine at night that makes your eyes waters as you walk past. There is no pride or care factor whatsoever it seems. I hesitated leaving a review thinking it will make no difference to the place improving. I am bewildered as to why an owner of a potentially stunning business would have such low standards as to care factor for what should be a lovely, clean, functional and accommodating/courteous experience Absolutely definitely will not be back, not to stay in the rooms, camp or day trip, fish, I wish I took all the photos I had thought of taking to prove I am not exaggerating! *there was ONE exception. A lovely lady staff member with an English accent and glasses, I didn’t get her name. She was so nice and appeared to be going over and above to compensate for inadequacies, I felt sorry for her!

We didn't stay as we were on a tour, but we did enjoy relaxing on the deck and watching the world go by. Lovely spot for some lunch, a drink or two and just enjoying a natter. We'll definitely be back.
