We stayed 2 nights at the Wilderness Lodge and it was an enriching experience. Gerry was a wonderful host with his profound knowledge on the birds and rainforest eco system in NZ. Knowing that my wife was a mad dog lover, he brought his own personal dog Bo to play with us as well bringing us to feed the eels.Patrick...

This is an awesome lodge in the wilderness on the edge of a beautiful lake surrounded by rain forest! They offer a serene setting, fun "adventures" (see the penguins if they're in mating, hatching season), and enjoy great food, namgiance and delightful owners. You'll be unplugged here ...no tv, no cell service, no newspaper, very little internet service...so relax and enjoy...

We spent 2 nights at the Wilderness Lodge Lake Moeraki. Gerry and Anne were great hosts. My favorite day during our 2 weeks in New Zealand was the day we spent with Gerry watching penguins. He walked us through the beautiful forest to the Tasman Sea where we sat and had coffee or tea he had carried for us in...

I spent two nights at the lodge as part of a photography tour group, and it was sheer luxury. The food is wonderful, the accommodation comfortable, and the surroundings just amazing. Gerry was our guide for walks in the rainforest, and pointed out birds, plants, and even a spot where large eels congregate to be hand-fed. You can take kayak...

We stayed at the lodge as part of our honeymoon and it is a highlight we will always remember. Gerry and Anne run the lodge which really is in the middle of nowhere. The setting is beautiful, the room very comfortable and the food delicious! There is satellite wifi but only available in the main building which is sufficient to...

We spent two nights at the Lake Moeraki Wilderness Lodge. The setting was perfect with the accomodation complex surrounded by luxuriant rainforest and the Moeraki River in front of the dining room and lounges. Anne and Gerry were great hosts and we really enjoyed the guided activities that included walks to a nearby beach to watch Fiordland Crested Penguins emerge...

Gerry and Anne own and operate this exquisite and gorgeous lodge which feels as if it's sitting hidden in the midst of a jungle, when, in fact, it's only a few feet off the road. The rooms were immaculate and the dining room flawless in every way. The staff were super-friendly and went out of their way to be accomodating....

I found Wilderness Lodge by accident whilst researching the South Island of New Zealand. Our stay was a highlight of our holiday. Our room had a river view and was very comfortable. The added extras such as quality toiletries and fruit in the room were lovely touches. The sitting room and dining areas were well appointed with river views. The...

The owners of the Wilderness Lodge could not be any friendlier. The free rainforest and glow worm walks were incredibly educational. Best of all, they have an exclusive fiordland crested penguin (paid) guided tour. The staff is personally invested in maintaining and promoting the nesting areas on this walk, removing obstacles for easier penguin access to the beach to allow...

My husband and I stayed for three nights at the Wilderness Lodge in September. The lodge had just reopened a week or two earlier and we shared it with just one other set of guests during our 3 nights there. The location is just amazing - the lodge and rooms sit at the side of the river. There are trails...
