We stayed here for two nights. The room was an excellent size and spotlessly clean. The hotel has tatami flooring throughout and low beds in the rooms which makes for an authentic Japanese experience. Would highly recommend.

We had a great stay here for 3 nights. First we were allocated a room without view or even daylight. The window was facing the back of another building. We asked for changing to a room facing the street. Those rooms were only available the very next day. The hotel provide free ramen everyday from 9-11pm. It’s only 5 mins walk to Dotombori. The mattress and pillows were comfortable. USB charger is available at bedside table.

Stayed in a compact twin room with no cleaning.
What I liked:
The way that the hotel has tatami mats, so no shoes can be worn. This makes it feel cleaner and more of a Japanese experience.
Breakfast buffet is amazing. Lots of fantastic foods to try. Excellent management of the buffet by staff too. Occasionally we had to wait a bit for the buffet but not long.
Communal bath, which is open all night so you can visit at quieter times.
Freebie foods such as ramen and ice cream.
Location is brilliant.
Reception staff were nice
Bathroom small but ok. Good shower

What I didn't like:
The compact room is REALLY compact. Opening luggage is a challenge. Having twin beds was a good choice as a small room and a small bed is quite frustrating.
It felt quite hot in the room and in the hotel as a whole. There is air con which made a bit of a difference although we struggled to find the right temperature.

We stayed at the Nono for one night while in Osaka. The location is awesome. Very close to Dotombori and the Kuromon Market. It is also close to a subway station.

The rooms are typical Japanese sized, small. Everything in the room was as expected.

We like the perks in the hotel like the late night free ramen and ice pop/ice cream available at night. the breakfast buffet was very nice but it got crowded and he had to wait for seats to open. There are a lot of seats and it is a buffet so it didn't take long to clear the wait list.

The hot spring was nice. It does get crowded but the crowds can be avoided by going at off times. The hotel TV has an indication of how crowded the hot spring is.

The staff was nice and we had no trouble communicating in English.

I like to stay in onyado! In the city centre near the dotombori and sinsaibaishi. The room not too spacious, japanese style design. Hotel was very comfortable, you need to take off your shoes at lobby. They have free ramen from 9-11 pm. And great thing they have hotspring bath as hotel facility. Location was very near nippombaishi station. If we go back to osaka i will stay in here again :)

Hotel is tatami style but with western rooms. Room is on the small side but is typical of city hotels in Japan. Very short walk to Kuromon market, Nippombashi station and Dotombori. Hot spring is small and can get crowded during 9-11 pm, free ramen in the restaurant from 9-11 pm in the Hitago restaurant which is great post onsen or shopping. Water coolers for both hot and cold water are available outside restaurant and a microwave oven is also provided outside onsen area. Breakfast spread is decent but repetitive, would choose to eat outside next time as there are lots of restaurants nearby. 7-11 is 2 doors away and has ATM which accepts overseas debit cards and good selection of food. There is a laundry room with 3 locked washers and dryers in the onsen area, reception will provide the keys when requested. There is no cost to use the washing machine and detergent is provided. Dryer costs 100 yen per 20 minutes. Ladies’ onsen can be accessed via password which changes daily for security purposes. Shoes have to be removed at the entrance and kept in lockers and the staff will clean the luggage wheels before you can wheel it to the room. Will stay there again the next time I’m in Osaka.
Tip on getting there from Kansai Airport if you have a big suitcase. Book a seat on the Dotonbus which picks you up from south side of terminal outside international arrivals and drops you at Dotonplaza which is a 5-10 min easy walk along the street to the hotel. It’s easier then taking the train as the Nippombashi station entrance closest to the hotel has no lift or escalators. Can also book the same bus to go to airport, 50 mins to 180 mins each way depending on traffic.

We had a two night stay as a family of four here. This is a modern and clean hotel, where shoes are left at the lobby (in a locker room) and you walk inside in your slippers or socks. The decor is ryokan style and our room wasn’t large but comfortable enough to sleep 2 adults and 2 toddlers. We had a low level bed and extra tatami for more sleeping space. Free bottled water was provided. There was a small table and couch as well. Bathroom was small but functional and had basic toiletries.

Onsen was good and decently maintained. The room had little baskets for you to take to the onsen and it contained towels and toiletries. Yukata were given for us adults and they were even provided to the children.

No breakfast was included in the rate but there are free ramen noodles served at night, which are of good quality.

Parking for the hotel is at a separate building, just round the corner. We only found out after asking the front desk on arrival.

We had an enjoyable stay here. It is clean, staff are polite, and centrally located. They even had a Cantonese speaking staff member to assist Hong Kong people.

I cannot explain to you how amazing this hotel is. Do yourself a favor and BOOK it.
I’ll keep it simple.
1. Location- legit 5-10 min walk to dotonburi, so many places to eat, 7-11 right next door, subway within a minute of walking
2. Staff- ah-mazing, so nice so helpful, so great
3. Food - breakfast was a dream so many options even American option. Also the free ramen was so key to late night hunger
4. Hot baths in the basement floor - so traditional and what an experience

So all in all 5 thousand stars will definitely stay here again!

We have booked this hotel according to its reviews on different websites for one night only but were extremely disappointed with our choice!
Smelly, tiny dirty rooms!
No views , noisy, full of families with children...screaming and crying all night long!
Very uncomfortable bed!!! Pillows were hard rock!
Zero customer service from their reception staff!
Needless to say nobody speaks English!
Not recommended at all!
Osaka itself is not worth the visit!

Location:
VERY convenient if you are visiting Osaka as a foodie. It is located minutes from the famed Dontonbori Street and Kuromon Market. Location-wise I do not think you can get any better as it’s far enough away from the chaos, but close enough that it feels like you’re living in it. The are also two train stations only a few blocks away, so commuting anywhere is a breeze even with luggage.

Rooms:
As all the other Dormy Inn hotels, the rooms are compact, clean, minimalistic and have everything you would need. Loungewear is also provided for you to wear freely around the facilities and a basket is provided for you to bring to the hot springs with you to hold towels. If you have not opted for daily cleaning service, they will hang fresh towels for you in a bag on your door in the morning.

The only downside to the rooms is that there seem to be massive Chinese tour groups that come by in groups of families with young children, making it very difficult to sleep or have any peace while you are in your room. On our floor, there was a family who booked multiple rooms and deliberately left their doors open so the children could run in and out of all the rooms while screaming and yelling from 7AM-11PM (with the TV also blasting on full volume). I asked the front desk to be moved the first night, but they told me they were fully booked. They were thankfully willing to move us to a different floor the next morning after people had checked out or I would have asked to check out early with a refund. The front desk was apologetic, but didn’t seem surprised. It seemed like this may be a common occurrence for them. In any case, they handled the situation with grace and we appreciated being moved to a new room on a different floor, which was much better and allowed us to sleep.

Hot Springs:
The hot springs were downright unacceptable and would have caused rush to be a 2 star review if the front desk had not been so gracious to resolve our noisy room issue. We booked this hotel because it was marketed as a hotel with hot springs/onsen, which is unusual for Osaka. I was expecting to be able to come back from busy days walking around the Osaka city streets to relaxing in hot springs at the hotel at night. No such luck - the place was a dirty circus. The tour groups flooded the hot springs with screaming children swimming and practicing splashing in the onsen. The mothers chatted loudly amongst themselves while the kids roamed free splashing through both hot springs. If you’re unfamiliar with the onsen culture in Japan, it is meant to be a place for you to unwind in therapeutic peace, and in many places speaking is forbidden entirely. In the public bathing area, there was trash everywhere, people were using the wash bins as waste cans, people were brushing their teeth, flossing and leaving dirty soapy water in some bins. I think I took 2 additional showers when I returned to my room. Unreal.

Service:
Service was the best part of our stay. The staff was lovely and handled the crowds with grace. They are the only reason this isn’t a 2 star review.

Overall, I would say it depends on what you’re looking for. If you’re looking for a convenient place and don’t mind the ruckus or have any desire for the hot springs, I would recommend this hotel. If you expect a relaxing environment or want to utilize the hot springs, I would definitely pass. I should have trusted the negative reviews which mentioned the loud guests, but I thought they were isolated instances. I was wrong.

Are tattoos allowed in the onsen?
Answer from Nancy C

Technically, no, but you can ask the front desk for a (small) tattoo bandage to cover it. You’ll have to check, but I think it’s something like 8 cm x 11 cm. They will give you two. If your ink is bigger, you’re out of luck at most onsens in Japan unless you book a ryokan with a private onsen.
