Pluses: Excellent location in the Namba station area, close to Dotonbori and tons of shops and restaurants. Minuses: Gloomy, not an inviting place with a small reception reminding a cheap, old motel. Dirty walls in the room.Very unusual for Japan. All in all the room and the hotel don't feel clean. The beds are very hard. It was good for me, but you need to know before you book it. It was a good price for one night. Still, if I had known, I would have paid more in another place. There are millions of hotels around.
If you want to stay near Dotonbori area, this is a comfortable well priced hotel that is very close to the Namba rail. Positives: Location - express trains from Kansai terminate at Namba. The hotel is a 8-10 min walk. As mentioned elsewhere, it is a little tricky to find, though easier if follow the overhead freeway from station. It is located in the quaint back lanes of Namba which have lots of bars and great local restaurants. Bathroom - showers were very good. Staff are helpful and friendly. Negatives: Beds are hard - not unusual in Japan. TV (if interested) only has Japanese channels. We were very happy with our stay.
Close to ammenities but difficult to find. Cab driver got lost as well. It is fairly well situated and reasonably new, or renovated but expensive for what you get, compared to other nearby comparable hotels which appeared to be more comfortable. The beds were the worst issue. Super thin mattresses on solid timber base and lumpy, un-adjustable pillows. Tea making facilities in the room but no spoons, milk, coffee etc provided. Breakfast paid for in our stay and it was extremely spartan. Would I stay again? Highly unlikely. Sorry folks.
