Service was average. Room is slightly bigger than the usual Japanese hotel rooms. Location is its best asset. From Namba station, proceed to exit 11 if you are travelling light. If you have heavy suitcases, opt to take the lift at exit 1, midosuji eastside. Upon alighting from the lift, make a u-turn proceeding to the opposite direction, 1st corner turn right, then left on an alley. Hotel is a few meters away. Liked most the location which is very convenient for shopping and restaurants. Onsen is great after lots of walking. What we disliked was no wifi in the room. You would have to go to the lobby to access their wifi which was quite inconvenient.

My husband and I stayed for 4 nights at Midosuji Hotel in April 2013 in a "Small Double Room". The hotel is very well located right in the heart of Namba's arcades, and right next to the subway (Midosuji line) and the Nankai line (for express trains to the airport). Despite all this, it was whisper quiet, never heard anything from outside during the night.

The room was quite small, but that's normal in Japan. We at least had room to lay our suitcases out on the floor. The room was simple, but clean and comfortable. A western style bed, tv, desk, kettle. Bathroom was small but perfectly fine for what we needed. The hotel also has public baths for men and women.

The staff were friendly and spoke sufficient English. There is a cafe attached to the hotel and one night we were given a voucher for breakfast. I'm not sure if that was an accident, because we never got another (hadn't paid for breakfast), and we didn't get up early enough before breakfast ended, so I can't comment on the quality. There are vending machines in the lobby, and a Family Mart 24hr convenience store 20m away. Everything is on your doorstep.

I would stay at the Midosuji Hotel again. The rooms are simple, but then why would you sit around in your room when you are in Namba?

I was terribly disappointed by this hotel, and am so surprised by all of the positive reviews. I love Japanese food and all other hotel breakfasts I have had in this country, but this one was truly inedible. I wish I had stayed at the Hotel Donbori again: now there is a breakfast! I actually went there this morning after attempting to eat at the Midosuji. The room was small and unremarkable, with no view at all. There were not enough electrical outlets! The onsen water itself was fine but there was no sign of any sort of beautiful Japanese aesthetic sense. I really do not recommend staying here.

Excellent location for eating... drinking ... getting to JR trains and subway .
Room clean and quiet. Bed is very comfortable. No safe in room.
Only problem is that Wi-Fi is only available in the lobby.

I check in late due to unforeseen circumstances however the staffs were ready for me when I reached so checking in was a breeze. There are onsen in this hotel but it's a bit complicated as women and men onsen got switch at morning and evening. I am a bit disappointed as I didn't get to try out the onsen due to packed schedule.
Staffs can speak excellent English and for nursing mummies, their bar fridge can freeze the milk. If got too many packets, the staffs will help you keep in their freezer. :D
The location of this hotel is great! Those coming via subway, go exit 1 if got huge heavy luggage as there's elavator there. Going to Kansai Airport is a short walk across the road to Takashimaya and elavator provided. Dotonburi is walkable distance from hotel too. Excellent location for shopping and eating.

we arrived at the hotel after having taken the shuttle bus from itm airport. hotel was a bit hard to find initially, partly due to the multi-intersection drop off point. but if you do your homework, you'll realize that the hotel is located in a "back alley" just off and parallel to the bustling midosuji boulevard. all in all, hotel's location felt safe and was very strategic. we would do it all over again if given the chance.

staff was responsive and courteous. we booked through the phone with a representative who spoke English and were met with a series of staff members who supported us in planning our trip and making our stay pleasant. two thumbs up for the staff.

you're not going to find a better location. right across midosuji boulevard from the hotel, you'll find namba station which served as our entry point to Osaka, Kyoto, Nara, and Koyasan. this station is huge, but luckily, people from Osaka are friendly. so don't be stranger and ask someone to point you in the right direction if you get lost.

breakfast was delicious, and rooms were clean.

if you want wifi in your room, you're going to need to borrow a portable wifi router from the front desk while putting down a security deposit. connect room's Ethernet cable to the router, and then connect your device to the network.

exit strategy was easy. we were able to hail a cab on midosuji boulevard for kansai airport without a hitch.

If you are visiting Osaka to chill out relax, as we did after our time in Tokyo and Kyoto, this is an ideal place to stay. The price is reasonable (~7,500/night). The rooms are reasonably large by Japanese standards. Somehow, surrounded by a sprawl of shops, the hotel manages to be super quiet! The staff is friendly and professional, and all of the ones I've interacted with spoke English (one even studied in the US for a year).

The spa is great! It's a huge hot tub with adjacent showers. It's probably around 40'c. I enjoyed it enough to decide not to go to the highly rated bath house - I can soak in a big tub at an ideal temperature every day here at no additional charge or time expenditure.

There is no WIFI anywhere in the hotel, so you'll have to go to a nearby Starbucks (there are three). Remember to activate your Starbucks wifi before you go there, otherwise you won't be able to bootstrap wifi access.

There are some positives with this hotel and quite a few negatives.
Positives first. Great location as has been mentioned near train, shops, restaurants, more shops, nightlife etc. The room we had, superior twin, was roomy, cosy with two large twin beds. Room at the back (lousy view) was quiet. The bathroom is really nice, and the whole room looks as if it's recently been modernised. There is an onsen bath with sauna in the hotel which was very good.
Now the negatives. Why in this modern era does a hotel of this ilk not provide Wi-Fi in the bedrooms? The only area where Wi-Fi was available was in the lobby and was extremely weak. Just not good enough.
The breakfast was woefully inadequate, especially for western tastebuds with a really poor selection. Everything was cold, even those things that should have been hot, except the salty soup. There was one member of staff on and her customer service was poor.
The staff in the hotel, though smiley, only spoke Japanese and their English was limited to a couple of words. Throughout the hotel all signage was in Japanese and trying to operate the air conditioning, tv, and even room light switches was a challenge.
It's a shame that for me the negatives ruined my experience of this hotel. If your not bothered by these things then go for it.

Stayed in a room for 3 persons and quite surprised that the room is bigger than usual Japanese standards. The onsen is great addition for soothing tired legs after travelling. The location is fantastic as its right smack in the middle of ebisuji shopping street and just a few minutes walk away from Namba station, where you can take the Nankai express to Kansai airport.

Some minor grumbles are the so so breakfast and the aircon which seems difficult to adjust. The wifi can only be accessed at lobby and is only turned n at certain times. But these issues does not take away the overall good experience of staying in this hotel.

Osaka railway station has fabulous storage lockers in which to store your luggage, they range in different sizes. We stored our luggage when we went to Koyasan overnight and had no problem when we arrived back.

The semi double bed is 120cm wide. The room is small, more like a single room. One side of the bed is against the wall. It would be good to check the hotel booking website daily as the availability/types of rooms changes everyday.
