Other than the location that other travelers have given extensive feedback on, everything within this property works. From the multiple plugs ( 1 international and 8 local) to charge electrical devices, thoughtfully placed night light to heated toilet seats, one can expect a great night's sleep. First impressions of my panoramic king room (32 sm) was on the small side (feedback from other travelers is that the average room size in Japan is smaller) but the great design of the space has grown on me. Having the built in Alexa device answer basic tourist type questions also help.

This hotel is a very reliable option for Tokyo. It is right next to Shinjuku station, and easy to find after getting off the Narita Express. There is also a starbucks cloesby which is really convenient.
The hotel is part of what seems like large office/business tower.
The hotel has more of a business feel than touristy vibe...although most guests I saw seemed like tourists.
Checkin was fast and my room was spacious, and it had a cupboard - which is not always the case in Tokyo hotels. Wifi was also strong and the toilets was modern like most you'll come across in Japan.
Special mention about the staff. They are lovely, polite and professional. I had booked a twin room, but had reuqested a double bed as a special request. The hotel could not accomodate this because of availability. Nonetheless as a show of good will the manager offered us complementary breakfast for the next day.
And one more thing...the view from our room was great!

I stayed at Century Southern Tower in Shinjuku for 6 nights in August 2023. It has been a favourite hotel of mine in Tokyo for many years because of its great location, easy access from and to the Narita Express train from Narita airport, great city views and well designed rooms and well maintained property.

I opted for a Southern tower king room to give myself more room and the room was well appointed and quite spacious by Japan standards. I had a room on the 33rd floor, one of the highest floors and had an expansive view out towards Yoyogi park, though not much of the skyscraper district due to tall buildings nearby in that direction. My friends had a scenic room on the 34th floor which faces Takashimaya Times Square and Shinjuku Gyoen National Park and so had a much better view, of course at a higher room rate. The same view can be seen from the hotel lobby on the 20th floor.

The location of the hotel is great. Exit out to street level and the entrance to two Toei subway lines are across the street. Exit out to level 2 and you reach the Southern Terrace behind the hotel which is a pedestrian promenade linking to the New South exit of JR Shinjuku station, the Newoman retail, restaurant and office development and several other bakeries and restaurants and shops. The Southern Terrace also connects to Takashimaya Times Square by a pedestrian bridge over the train tracks of Shinjuku station. The vast shopping opportunities at Lumine 1, Lumine 2, Lumine EST, My Lord etc. are nestled around Shinjuku station for diehard shoppers. Finally, it is easy to roll your luggage along Southern Terrace to the New South exit of Shinjuku station, enter the turnstiles and take an elevator down to the tracks for the Narita Express train to and from Narita airport, which is a much faster option than the limousine bus.

The hotel offers a buffet breakfast, which is less expensive booked as part of a hotel stay. The buffet has a good range of food including a made to order egg station for omelettes but for a 6 day stay, I found the buffet a bit repetitive since it only cycled between two menus on alternating days for the hot entrée, potato salad or macaroni salad, and fish of the day.

The hotel is always very popular so booking in advance is essential, particularly for Saturday, the most popular day. Booking early also nets a lower room rate as the rate goes up as the hotel fills up.

Century Southern Tower is good value and convenient so it is my go to hotel for Tokyo.

Stayed here for 4 nights in early January 2020.

The rooms are spacious for Tokyo standards and the bed was comfortable but interiors are dated and a bit worn. There was no room service. Overall I would say that it is a nice business hotel rather than a “luxury” hotel.

The front desk and concierge staff did not speak good English which was surprising. Based on the crowds in the lobby and the jaded/ borderline impatient attitude of especially the concierge staff, this hotel caters almost exclusively to tourists. Expect queues for front desk and concierge.

Please note that the concierge has a strict policy of not making bookings for the guests for the date of checkout. Understandable for dinners. However I thought it quite mean when it came to lunch or morning bookings. I only asked the concierge to make one booking (a massage) for the morning that I left. Initially this was refused rather impatiently until I pointed out that I could go to the massage then come back to checkout.

My booking did not include breakfast but I noticed long queues for breakfast every morning so it was probably just as well.

There was a shake shack and some nice coffee places on/ around the podium of the hotel building.

Hotel was 5 minutes walk to yoyogi station and away from the kabukicho / shinjuku west exit mayhem which was nice.

Basically if the price is right, you don’t need much help from the hotel concierge/ front desk and you need to be in Shinjuku this is probably a acceptable choice.

Really good with the location of the hotel being so close to Shinjuku train station. A little bit basic with holiday services with the Reception for travel accommodation being on the 20th floor and business/ rent floors underneath but it always helps to be central. The buffet breakfast is great which works out to 2500¥ p/breakfast for hotel guests.

They offer the bus back to Narita airport but I found its quicker and cheaper to walk less than 200m to the training station and take the NEX (Narita Express Train) on platform 4.

*** Would also suggest to get a “Suica” train card (500¥) at Shinjuku JR Train Station and add some credit to it because it makes it a lot easier to take trains around Tokyo and beyond by swiping your card at gates rather than using the machines every time to select your destinations.

This hotel reminds me of the Sheraton brand - rooms are little outdated, the amenities are quite ordinary, but it’s clean, quiet and comfortable with excellent service and housekeeping staff. The panoramic king room has too much arbitrary furniture, which makes it seem smaller and more crowded than it actually is.

It gets annoying having to take two elevators to access the room. It’s also the first hotel I’ve stayed at in about 20 years that doesn’t require key cards to take the elevators to the rooms. Luckily Tokyo is a very safe place.

There are many places nearby to eat - including lots of trendy/pricy western chains like Dean and Deluca and Verve Coffee.

It’s a 5-10 minute walk to Tokyo’s biggest train and bus station, so very convenient to get around.

We had an amazing stay at this hotel in the peak of the summer. It was comfortable with AMAZING views (we looked into Yoyogi Park). They accommodated our request for a high floor, and they delivered - we had a top floor room (I’ve never had a hotel accommodate a request like this before!).

The room was kept immaculately clean throughout, and whilst the bathroom was slightly on the older side, it was maintained to a very high standard. The rooms are very quiet and we didn’t hear any noise from surrounding rooms at all.

The hotel is in a very very good place in terms to quick access to food and transport. We had several nearby places to choose from for breakfast and the metro was very close, as well as the JR lines.

We had an amazing stay, thank you so much!

I love this hotel. The location is super convenient for any first time or repeated traveler to Tokyo. Literally steps away from the Shinjuku station and walking distance to tons of local restaurants and shops. The view is of course, truly amazing!! We stayed at this hotel at the beginning and tail end of a Tokyo trip - the hotel was kind enough to store our luggage for us while we traveled to Hakone and Mount Fuji area for a few nights. This made it logistically easy since there are few luggage storage sections on local trains and buses. I would highly recommend this hotel and can't wait to come back!

Despite its very convenient location just above Shinjuku station, the rooms do not strike me worthy of such prices (view is alright, rooms are considerably small especially the toilet). An issue I find very alarming is the fact that some of the hotel staff (especially the reception staff) seem to be very very under-trained in terms of guest relation and how to conduct conversations with guests. In my case, I was mistreated and severely offended by a member of staff, Mr. Oono (or Ono). This particular member of staff spoke to me in a condescending manner. Despite explicitly expressing my dissatisfaction and asking for a method of a formal complaint, he simply urged me to “go on and complain” and did not seem to be bothered at all. I urge all travellers to be aware of this, especially travellers of Chinese nationality (I am from Hong Kong). I strongly believe that it is not by chance that I was mistreated in such way as I had observed how travellers of other nationalities/ ethnicities are treated by hotel staff.
Overall, 4 stars for location and if I could even rate it, absolutely 0 star for staff service. Completely unacceptable service.

We stayed in the hotel for 7 days/8 nights in this hotel, from Dec 17-24, 2019. I have nothing but praises for this hotel. Location is unbeatable due to its proximity to JR Shinjuku and Yoyogi Stations, restaurants and convenience stores. It is just across Takashimaya and walking distance to Isetan and other stores. Aside from location, the service is impeccable. The staff are very helpful and requests are addressed promptly. The rooms are clean and well-maintained. The room size is bigger by Japan standard. It also has a nice view. We got the Scenic King Room. This is the fourth hotel we stayed in Japan, and so far the only hotel we wish to go back to on our next trip to Tokyo.
