Hotel Century Southern Tower garners praise for its prime Shinjuku location, with guests appreciating the proximity to transport and attractions. The well-maintained cleanliness of rooms and common areas stands out, although opinions on decor and the mandatory cleaning policy are mixed. Reviews highlight quiet rooms offering impressive vistas and efficient amenities, yet some find the decor outdated.
While the breakfast may be pricey and rooms small for some, many find the hotel's pricing reasonable. The service at this hotel earns rave reviews for the staff's helpful and friendly demeanor.

This hotel reminds me of the Sheraton brand - rooms are little outdated, the amenities are quite ordinary, but it’s clean, quiet and comfortable with excellent service and housekeeping staff. The panoramic king room has too much arbitrary furniture, which makes it seem smaller and more crowded than it actually is.
It gets annoying having to take two elevators to access the room. It’s also the first hotel I’ve stayed at in about 20 years that doesn’t require key cards to take the elevators to the rooms. Luckily Tokyo is a very safe place.
There are many places nearby to eat - including lots of trendy/pricy western chains like Dean and Deluca and Verve Coffee.
It’s a 5-10 minute walk to Tokyo’s biggest train and bus station, so very convenient to get around.

I stayed at Century Southern Tower in Shinjuku for 6 nights in August 2023. It has been a favourite hotel of mine in Tokyo for many years because of its great location, easy access from and to the Narita Express train from Narita airport, great city views and well designed rooms and well maintained property.
I opted for a Southern tower king room to give myself more room and the room was well appointed and quite spacious by Japan standards. I had a room on the 33rd floor, one of the highest floors and had an expansive view out towards Yoyogi park, though not much of the skyscraper district due to tall buildings nearby in that direction. My friends had a scenic room on the 34th floor which faces Takashimaya Times Square and Shinjuku Gyoen National Park and so had a much better view, of course at a higher room rate. The same view can be seen from the hotel lobby on the 20th floor.
The location of the hotel is great. Exit out to street level and the entrance to two Toei subway lines are across the street. Exit out to level 2 and you reach the Southern Terrace behind the hotel which is a pedestrian promenade linking to the New South exit of JR Shinjuku station, the Newoman retail, restaurant and office development and several other bakeries and restaurants and shops. The Southern Terrace also connects to Takashimaya Times Square by a pedestrian bridge over the train tracks of Shinjuku station. The vast shopping opportunities at Lumine 1, Lumine 2, Lumine EST, My Lord etc. are nestled around Shinjuku station for diehard shoppers. Finally, it is easy to roll your luggage along Southern Terrace to the New South exit of Shinjuku station, enter the turnstiles and take an elevator down to the tracks for the Narita Express train to and from Narita airport, which is a much faster option than the limousine bus.
The hotel offers a buffet breakfast, which is less expensive booked as part of a hotel stay. The buffet has a good range of food including a made to order egg station for omelettes but for a 6 day stay, I found the buffet a bit repetitive since it only cycled between two menus on alternating days for the hot entrée, potato salad or macaroni salad, and fish of the day.
The hotel is always very popular so booking in advance is essential, particularly for Saturday, the most popular day. Booking early also nets a lower room rate as the rate goes up as the hotel fills up.
Century Southern Tower is good value and convenient so it is my go to hotel for Tokyo.

Seriously a nice hotel. I chose this hotel because I needed a very centrally located hotel for an event. Chose Shinjuku and this hotel. I was very glad I did in the end. Room was very spacious on the 34th floor for incredible views. Room didn't lack anything and was happy with the amenities, great water pressure, free wifi, black out drapes, safe, kettle, laundry spritzer, and even the in-room room view card so you knew what you were looking at. Although I could hear the trains rolling by, it was not bothersome. The light switches at the head of the bed were tricky to operate but was able to figure it out. The heat/AC worked great especially for the freezing cold of Tokyo. Although I didn't use the nearby train station, it was centrally located to walk to Takshiymaya, Hands, Donki, Daiso, Uniqlo (various). The only knock I would give is that the included breakfast did not have a whole lot of Japanese cuisine but otherwise the rest was fine (especially the pastries). Breakfast staff were nice. Also, I was going to hold a meeting in the lounge and quickly outgrew the registration. When I asked about booking a meeting room I was told it was not possible even though the meeting rooms seemed empty. I ended up booking two tables in the restaurant but would have spent a whole lot more booking a meeting room with food. Oh well. 7-11 downstairs was awesome and the taking the airport limousine bus was seamless and quick to Haneda and Narita (had to use both). Direct stop to the hotel. Also a Family Mart about 5 minutes to hotel for their chicken LOL. Taxis could also find the hotel quickly as well. All in all, I was spoiled by using this hotel. It's not the cheapest, but it was well worth it for my first time on business travel to Tokyo. Would definitely stay again if the price was right.

We have just stayed at this hotel for the first 5 nights of our 3 week Japan trip. The hotel is located above offices and there is also a 7-11 convenience store, a shake shack and a few other restaurants at the entrance to the main building which was handy. There is also a FamilyMart and subway/train stations near by. The staff are extremely helpful and lovely, and can speak good English. The staff helped us to send our suitcases from this hotel to our next hotel in Kyoto which was very convenient and made travelling between cities hassle free. We had a nice view of the city from our hotel room despite not having booked a special room with a city view so this was a nice surprise. Our room was cleaned and towels etc replaced every day, and there are hair dryers and air-con in the rooms. We were in a room by the lift and could not hear much noise which was appreciated when trying to catch an early night, or have a sleep in! If we were to visit this area of Tokyo again we would definitely stay in this hotel. Thank you for a perfect start to our Japan trip!

We had an amazing stay at this hotel in the peak of the summer. It was comfortable with AMAZING views (we looked into Yoyogi Park). They accommodated our request for a high floor, and they delivered - we had a top floor room (I’ve never had a hotel accommodate a request like this before!).
The room was kept immaculately clean throughout, and whilst the bathroom was slightly on the older side, it was maintained to a very high standard. The rooms are very quiet and we didn’t hear any noise from surrounding rooms at all.
The hotel is in a very very good place in terms to quick access to food and transport. We had several nearby places to choose from for breakfast and the metro was very close, as well as the JR lines.
We had an amazing stay, thank you so much!

Pretty bummed about our experience with Century Southern Tower. The hotel itself looks nice from the outside, the lobby is okay but the rooms are really outdated and stale feeling. The bathroom looks like it hasn’t been updated in years and there was a sewer drain in the bathroom of our room which made the bathroom smell less than great. I think the worst part was that 3 days into our stay, we got a notice on our door that they will be entering our room the following day to clean it (whether we wanted that or not). We were staying for 5 days and I typically don’t like them coming into the room to clean unless we really need it, which in this case, we did not. They said that even if we put the “do not disturb” sign on the door, they would still enter the room to clean it. In my years of traveling, I have never experienced any hotel that has this policy and probably wouldn’t have stayed here had I known because it feels like an invasion of privacy for them to force entry to clean, even if we don’t need/want it. It was a decent stay, but definitely not for the price and I probably wouldn’t even consider this hotel to be 4-star.

We arrived late evening, I was initially concerned about my lack of Japanese and not being able to check in easily, but I was pleasantly surprised. The lady at the check in desk was friendly and efficient. She even spoke some English which put me at ease
The hotel room was lovely and clean, I stayed on the 28th floor and had lovely views looking out over Tokyo The room was quiet and I never heard a peep from other guests
The breakfast buffet was nice, perhaps a bit pricey, (7000¥ for 2 people) but seeing as you can have as much as you want the value is up to you.
I'd very happily stay here again

The location of the hotel is great, only 2-3 minutes away from the New South Exit of Shinjuku Station. The hotel feels a bit like a commercial hotel, refreshing, simple and clean. The lobby is located on the twentieth floor of the building, with other commercial uses below. Because the rooms are all above the 20th floor, the large windows can see distant scenery, including downtown Shinjuku and Shinjuku Train Station. The room is quite large, the bed is comfortable, and toiletries are provided in the bathroom. The soundproofing is good and very quiet. The hotel is located in the heart of Shinjuku, with department stores, public transportation and a variety of shops and restaurants nearby. Not only is it convenient for shopping and traveling, but even if you return to the hotel later, you won’t have to worry about finding a place to eat. I highly recommend staying at this hotel in Tokyo.

Despite its very convenient location just above Shinjuku station, the rooms do not strike me worthy of such prices (view is alright, rooms are considerably small especially the toilet). An issue I find very alarming is the fact that some of the hotel staff (especially the reception staff) seem to be very very under-trained in terms of guest relation and how to conduct conversations with guests. In my case, I was mistreated and severely offended by a member of staff, Mr. Oono (or Ono). This particular member of staff spoke to me in a condescending manner. Despite explicitly expressing my dissatisfaction and asking for a method of a formal complaint, he simply urged me to “go on and complain” and did not seem to be bothered at all. I urge all travellers to be aware of this, especially travellers of Chinese nationality (I am from Hong Kong). I strongly believe that it is not by chance that I was mistreated in such way as I had observed how travellers of other nationalities/ ethnicities are treated by hotel staff. Overall, 4 stars for location and if I could even rate it, absolutely 0 star for staff service. Completely unacceptable service.

We had a very good stay. The hotel was quiet and our sleep was never disturbed. Room service was excellent and we always had a fresh supply of towels, Kleenex, soap, etc. We had an excellent view of the city from our room. As a bonus, the breakfast buffet was very good with plenty of selections, ie; potatoes, pancakes or waffles, scrambled eggs, granola for cereal, croissants, sweet rolls, omelette' to order, bacon, sausage, fish sticks, fruit. The coffee was not great but the Orange Juice was delicious. The hotel is rest next to the Shinjuku stations which is a big plus.
