Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Staff were very attentive, on arrival we were able to leave our bags while we went out to get accustomed with the area. English speaking staff were attentive and able to help us with our questions and needs. The room was quite small in size, and as we were staying for two weeks we had to do a bit of luggage Tetris(!) but served us well. We had a weekly cleaning service, Wi-Fi worked perfectly and the coffee machine in the room was a much needed help for our early morning starts. The hotel offers free ice cream, as well as a nice selection of manga. Location was great, near the main street so we had lots of options for food and travel connections.
We unfortunately didn't get to experience the rooftop bar as it didn't appear open, however this may have been due to us visiting in the winter. Taking the wrong exit at Roppongi station did give us some trouble finding the hotel as it is slightly tucked away off the main road so something to consider on arrival!

Great hotel! Located in a quiet little street! Several metro stations are nearby, washing machine available. Room rather small but usual in Japan. Very friendly staff! Several self-service drinks at reception.

Rooms are very small and bathroom walls are from paper, you can here everything. The corridor smells of smoking. The only positive things I have to mention is location. Good for 2 nights no more. There is European young lady with good English at reception.

They say it's a long way to Tipperary, but I can tell you that Tokyo is further, much further. It took around 12 hours, but thanks to an exit row seat – which I paid for – what could have been an absolute nightmare journey turned out to be just fine. Oddly, when I arrived I didn't feel at all weary. In fact, I was ready to do a bit of exploring, but first I needed to reach my hotel in the Roppongi district of town.

Something else worth remembering: don't listen to anybody who says the Tokyo metro system is confusing, it's not. It's very simple. All the stations are numbered so once you know where you're headed, simply remember the number of your station. In my case I was after Roppongi, which was station number four on the Hibiya line.

Once off the plane I took the Skytrain to a place called Uedo and then from there joined the metro system, looked for the Hibiya line and that was it, I rode all the way to Roppongi in what seemed like a few minutes. The metro is clean, there's no trouble, people behave themselves, all was good and it made me ashamed to be British, I can tell you.

The Act hotel is easy to find too. You come out of exit 2 at Roppongi station, keep walking straight for about a minute or two and then turn right and right again – and there it is! It's only about five minutes from the Roppongi metro exit.

I trundled myself and my suitcase to the hotel's front desk, checked in, paid up front the very reasonable £464 for the week and then made my way to room 302 on the third floor. I took the lift. My room was close by, the key card worked (many don't) and there I was, in my room, or perhaps 'cell' would be a better description. Actually, I'm being unfair, but let's just say the room was small and there was no 'view from the hotel window', which is normally the first thing I look out for. Why no view? Because the window, the small square window, was frosted.

I called the room a cell for good reason: it was tiny. They had squeezed everything into a very small space: bed, desk, shower room (no bathtub) and flatscreen television. There was no wardrobe, which meant that, as time progressed, my room resembled that of a teenager: clothes everywhere. I had two clothes hangers and a couple of pegs, that was my lot. The desk was narrow, so in the end everything was a mess; there were receipts piled up, adaptors, wires, a lap top, business cards – what a mess!

In the end, however, I got used to it. The best part of the room was the shower. In fact, I'll state this fact now: I've never, EVER had a better shower than that in room 302 of the Act Hotel in Tokyo. Why? The shower rose was huge (about 12inches x 10inches) and it was powerful. Every morning was like being in the monsoons of India – it was so good I had two showers every day.

But that, sadly is all I can say about the hotel, other than it was very quiet, the sort of place where you can remain anonymous if need be; everybody leaves you alone, you simply check in and check out and that's it. In fact, for that reason, it was an excellent hotel and I would definitely return.

What I didn't like was that there was no breakfast. Nothing. You had to find somewhere outside. I found Precious Coffee Moments and here's how you get there: come out of the Act Hotel, turn right, then left, then left again, take the subway and when you come out the other side of the street turn left and then keep walking. Eventually, after crossing a couple of streets, you'll see Precious Coffee Moments straight ahead of you, and it's great, although don't ask for a mint tea, they simply won't understand you.

There's not much more to say. I can't comment on the breakfast at the Act Hotel because there wasn't any. I can't comment on lunch or dinner, because there wasn't any, but in many ways, it made everything nice and simple. The Act Hotel is for sleeping in, pure and simple. It was good value for money, bang in the centre of the city and everybody leaves you alone. Go for it, I did and I'll do it again.

This hotel has easy access to the train line. It is near places to eat and shop. The hotel room is tiny but perfect for one person. It was clean and had all the amenities I needed. I would definitely stay there again.

I spent here 2 nights, the room was nice, clean, the staff was helpful, and it was on a budget, considering the prices in Tokyo :-) I would stay here again, very close to supermarkets, metro, quiet and safe area.

I stayed for 6 nights in July 2018; the hotel was only a couple of months old. Roppongi is a great area to stay for travelers from U.S. There are a lot of English speaking people and familiar places such as Hard Rock Cafe. This hotel is on a small, quiet side street but steps from lots of restaurants, museums, galleries. It is also very close to metro stations and the mail Roppongi train station. The rooms are small, but they are big for a typical business hotel in Japan. They are very nicely decorated and clean. Everything looks nice and new. The hotel has nice laundry areas and a very nice sitting area on the rooftop deck. The price was very inexpensive for the quality I got. I would stay there again.

Modern , very clean , has washing facilities , very quiet as well, reasonably easy to get to from Narita , Bullet train to Ueno change to Habiya line to Rappongi , exit 2 from the station , walk up stairs go straight ahead about 90 seconds walk , turn right into first road and right again.
You can’t swing a cat in the room but it’s comfortable , modern , and everything works , has a safe also. Comfortable bed and I slept well . The place is well run .
I wasn’t overly impressed by the roof top but horses for courses. These guys charge an hourly rate for early / late check in/ out.

Loved staying at the ACT hotel. Yes rooms are small but in comparison it has a large bathroom and the room is modern. The staff were great and spoke English welI. I would recommend this and definitely stay here again. Another plus: laundry is available. Oh and it also has an amazing rooftop for lounging.
