Book this hotel during my stay with family ( 2 adults, 2 children) for osaka trip in mid of january 2020. The closest station is osaka metro subway kitahama station while the entrance of this hotel is right next to the ground exit of the station. The room is spacious..the bathroom in equipped with the bath tub. No problem during the check in or check out everything goes smoothly. Really recommend this hotel for staying with the family since the access from kansai airport is very easy (only need to change line from tengachaya station to the sakaisuji line)..

There is a subway station exit right beside the hotel door. The station is Yodobashi and exit 6 in the station has elevator if you have large suit-cases otherwise use the stairs. Both stars and elevator will take you to 10m of the hotel door. The staff is friendly and helpful. The room size is good, large for japanese standards. At the eleven floor there is a room with ice machine and microwave available for all guests for free and a vending machine a little bit expensive compared to the one in the streets. The hotel is not in a busy area like the surroundings of Glico Sign, this is why we choosed it, but it is a few subway stations from those sites.

Stayed here for 3N... loved it. A very business like hotel, with some amazing, fantastic features which i love:
1) RIGHT NEXT TO THE SUBWAY (Kitahama station). Very convenient to head to KIX airport (just 1 transfer and 1hr away). This station is also just 1-2 stops away from the famous DOTONBURI and NAMBA street markets which you must go to explore.
2) Shower water pressure is HEAVENLY. So strong. So hot. So much water coming out.... perfect to massage away the tiredness of walking.
3) WiFI is super duper fast, with no nonsensical logins required. Just connect and that's it!
4) Hotel staff are friendly and most speak English.
5) Humidifier and hot water kettle provided, yaay.

Downsides: the bed is hard (japanese style) and the pillows are hard too. Don't like them.
Would be good if the hotel gave complimentary water bottles as well.
Unclear for first timers, where the lobby is (goto 3rd floor). But all lifts automatically stop at 3rd floor anyway, regardless of what floor you're going to (annoying after awhile) so you can't miss it.

Remember to take EXIT 6 from kitahama station. that takes you right to the hotel which is to your immediate left.

we stayed at this hotel for 7 nights in a double room.

Pros:
- Infrastructure: This is a new hotel by the Daiwa House Group. The property is very modern, clean and new. Room is a bit bigger than the average Japanese hotel room size. We didn't feel cramped with our 2 big suitcases and lots of shopping. We stayed on the 9th floor and throughout our stay we didn't hear noise from outside. It was a very comfortable stay.
- Superb housekkeeping: This has to be one of the cleanest hotels I've ever stayed at. I would give housekeeping 10/10. .
- Location: This hotel is located in The Kitahama area, which is a 10 minute train ride to the Shinsaibashi/Nanba/Nippombashi shoppning district (or a 20 minute walk.); a 40 min train ride to Kyoto and 35 min ride to Universal Studios.
- Famous eateries nearby: At first glance, the hotel seems to be in a business district, but one could soon realize it is surrounded by an array of famous Japanese restaurants.
i. Gokan cake shop. a 2 minute walk to the left of the main entrance of the hotel. The main store of Gokan cake shop is sooo near and they serve the prettiest, most delicious fruit cakes ever! Try the ones with melon as they are in season now. SOO GOOD. We went there 4 times during our 8-day stay in Osaka.
ii. Torikizoku (焼き鳥なら『鳥貴族』) - a Japanese kebbab chain. 15 second walk to the right of the main entrance of hotel. This restaursns serves kebbabs and alcoholic drinks all at the price of 280yen each. amazing.
iii. Shibato - a 140-year old unagi don shop. it's a 10 minute walk from the hotel and offers the most delicious unagi don in osaka. Eng menu: www.shibato.net/en_ryori.html
iv. Sekaino Yamachan - a restaurant famous for its chicken wings, 10 min walk from hotel. this is a chain from Nagoya and has shops all over Japan. We went there twice during our stay. awesome wings.
- Supermarket/convenience stores: Right across the street from the hotel is Kitahama Plaza, and at the basement of it is a supermarket. Kitahama Plaza is surrounded by 3 convenience stores as well.

Nice Location... but before you come here, make sure you do this: get your home bed sheet, put on the floor. Than, get two potato sacks, those that you buy at supermarkets, and fill it with rice. Than you sleep over the sheet on the floor using the rice sack as your pillow. Do that for 3 days before getting here, so that you do feel the same way I am feeling today after having sleept on their "Bed". Ah, very important too: on the day before you come to this hotel, make sure you go to bed very late, like 4 AM (we had done that since our flights got in at 1 AM). Than put your alarm clock to wake you up at 10:50. I explain: their check out is at 11 AM. At 11:00 Am, they will call your room. The phone will rind for 4 times. In case you are tired and miss picking up the phone, they will knock at your door at 11:01 AM letting you know it is time to go. They want you out of there. Or they will be nice to offer you to stay till 1 PM for $20. Detail: they will let you know it is $20 but will not accept dollars at all. If you do not have yens, because you got in late and the currency exchange at the international airport is closed at 11 PM, they will tell you not to pay, speak Japanese in front of you, and kind of let you know they did not like that. Well, usually hotels exchange currency for you, not?
Anyhow, other than the bad sleep and wake up call straight at 11 AM, the rest will be ok. Nothing in the small refrigerator (nothing, not even water to drink at 3 AM upon arrival) and dont even think to eat. Bring some chocolate in the bag so that you have something to keep you sweet upon arrival.
Than you are probably asking why I am giving 3 stars. Well, because the bathroom is a little plastic box that they put in the room. The shower is small but nice, and the toilet bowl seems like you are in one of the nasa spaceshipps so much there is for you to play with it. So, 3 stars for that as it was fun to play with it.
I have to stop writing now as my back hurts!
But it is low price, so good cost benefit. Ah, and wifi is free and works fine!

If you stay here again, we recommend you reserve this room type. And our hotel's check out is 11:00 a.m. But we are waiting few minutes for guest. So, if you want late check out, you need pay extra fee. Our hotel's staff aren't good at speaking English. Some of the staff can speak English well. But ALMOST staff can't speak English. My wife and I did extensive research regarding where to stay in Osaka, Japan. In our opinion, it would be very hard to beat Daiwa Roynet Hotel Osaka Kitahama for location, comfort and cleanliness. For a lower than average price we weren't sure what we'd find once we arrived. However. From the moment we stepped out of the taxi, we were overjoyed by the entire experience at the hotel. We booked two rooms, one for us and one for our 20 year old son. The trip was his college graduation gift.

The staff was quite efficient. The rooms were nicely decorated with very comfortable beds & pillows. The wifi was super fast as we researched Osaka and surrounding region. The bathroom was large with plush robes and oversized towels.

Each morning we ate at the hotel restaurant which was buffet style with a delicious combination of western and Japanese food and drink. Very comfortable setting and never missing any items at the buffet.

The location can't be beat for those who are sightseeing the heart of Osaka and beyond. Daiwa Roynet Hotel Osaka Kitahama is connected to the Kitahama, Sakaisuji Line, subway station. It was so easy getting everywhere on our itinerary. There are plenty of great places to eat within walking distance. Most cheap to very cheap and some higher end restaurants.

Take a look at our photos of the hotel, you can't do much better unless you pay a whole lot more. Why would you?

We booked our Japan trip last minute. Even it was very close to the date, we found Daiwa Roynet hotel was what all we needed and we had a lovely time stayed in. Hotel is on K14 metro line of kitahama station. You can get express train from Osaka airport to Tengachaya and only change once to K line to kitahama . Hotel is just right outside the station!

Kitahama station is also the station if you want to visit Kyoto by Keihan Railway.
Just few more stops to Kintetsunipponbashi station, you could take Kintetsu to visit Nara for a day without trouble.
Hotel room is smaller compare with most other countries, but this is in Japan! So it got what we needed- nice shower and comfortable bed for the end of the day. Staff at the reception were really friendly and helpful. They helped us out with phoning a lost credit card in Kyoto Post Office. We were really grateful what they done for us. We could not be able to explain to the PO ourselves.

They are lots of convenient stores near the hotel in 5 minutes walk away. Superb for breakfast if you fancy trying Japanese food! Osaka castle is about 20-30 minutes walk away from the hotel. Also very convenient for lots of other attractions.

In the end, we really liked our choice to stay in Daiwa Roynet hotel. We would love to stay again when we revisit Osaka.

Some of the reviews of this hotel are delusional. This hotel is run on a yield-management basis and provides absolutely minimal standards of service to its guests and is badly located. Forget the location next door to the Kitahama station, as it is not on the main line you will use as a tourist, requires the longest underground walk we have ever encountered and to get to the main line you will use to get to most locations and which is run by another company, meaning you must buy two tickets.
To get to the most suitable station on the central line at Yodobachsi required a walk of about 800m dragging your bags and little likelihood of getting a taxi. I can only imagine how difficult this would be in wet weather.
As for the hotel, the plus was that the room was very clean with good quality linen. Housekeeping was of a high standard and the second bathroom was quite good.
On the down side, we made an initial mistake by booking a standard double. This was quite frankly misleading advertising as it was a double bed fitted into a single room and sold as a single as well. The bed-head, after allowing for the built-in electrical fittings was for a single bed and the bed was crammed against the wall, so only one side faced a space and one person had their head agains the electrical outlets!
When we got to our allocated room and got of our clothes to shower and tidy up after a long day, we realised the room only had one towel, one robe, one set of slippers and one each of two types of tea-bag. There was no housekeeping to contact so I had to dress, go to reception and was then presented with a pre-packaged kit to bring the room up to double standard! Clearly this was a common occurrence and the way this hotel managed things.
We endured this room for one night and decided that we would seek to have an upgrade to a twin room. That was the start of our Fawlty Towers experience with this hotel.
We went to Reception on the third floor at 6.55am and asked for an upgrade. We had determined that if we could not get one, we would accept the cancellation fees for two remaining nights and find another hotel. The first offer we got from the young boy on the desk was for the charge of the full cancellation and then rebooking at the prevailing rate for two nights. We tried to explain that this was not what we had in mind! Next he had another go, with much the same outcome. We did note from a quick checkoff Tripadvisor that the rates were actually lower on the day than we had paid, which did not impress us.
We were then asked to sit down "for just a minute" while our case was considered. I think the Chief Financial Officer was contacted on New Years Eve to see what should be done. We were told 'we do not offer an upgrade product"!
Anyway, to no avail, by which time we were fuming. At 7.40, after I started to become very upset and raised the issue of the allocation of a single room to us in the first instance that another person intervened and after my wife set out very clearly in diagrammatic form what we were trying to do and how ridiculous the offer they were making was, we were offered an upgrade to a twin room for the remaining two nights at a reasonably acceptable price. That room was much better and did have a modern bathroom of acceptable size.
While the question of reception, it is on the third floor as others have mentioned, is very bland and unlike every other hotel we have stayed in during our trip to Japan, did not offer any coffee or even water and was most inhospitable. This was in keeping with the rooms, where tea bags were rationed to one per person and could not be called adequate for Western travellers.
Overall, a very disappointing experience and bad start to our stay in Osaka.

How to get here from Kansai (Osaka) Airport.
Go to the Nankai Line Office at the Kansai Airport and buy a ticket to Tengachaya on the Nakai Line in the direction of Namba.Change at Tengachaya to the Hankyu Senri Line and purchase tickets to Kitahama Station in the direction of Senri Chuo. When buying rail tickets at machines hit the English button, then put in the money before pressing any other buttons for destination, number of tickets etc..if the money does not go in first you wont get a ticket if you press the buttons one hundred times!! At Kitahama Station look for exit 6 when you arrive on the platform....,,the numbers are exit numbers not other platform numbers...at the end of exit 6 take the elevator and press the up button which will take you to ground level.Exit the lify and walk 20 metres to the left, there is a enterance to Daiwa Roynet set back behind large glass doors, go in and take the lift to the 3rd floor where you will find reception. The good news is you can do all this using elevators and one escalator...no stairs to manage with the bags.Cost of tickets from Kansai to Kitahama Station US$15 pp.

Rooms
The room size for the bedroom is 3m by 4m for the bed area, with a small hall and bathroom also. The Queen Size bed is hard on one wall, small fridge, air con, tea and coffee, good lighting, one window for natural light, no shelves to store clothing, one chair. Bathroom has a small bath, over bath shower, state of the art toilet, with seat warmer, sprays and automated flush! The room looks newly renovated, no marks or chips on the furniture and carpet has no stains, the bathroom fittings are brand new, hairdryer available ladies. Rooms are spotlessly clean.

Reception
The Reception staff do not change foreign currency, when asked they do not know where the nearest ATM is ( Kitahama Post Office and Kitahama Station), there are only a few restaurants in the immediate area. Early check ins are available at $10 per hour but beware on your way to the room it will look like a chinese laundry with linen bags everywhere...until room service is completed. Reception staff do their best to assist in English but it is a struggle for both parties to comprehend the other....the reception staff smile often and that helps alot.Wifi is free, unsecured and works well in room 1025.
Restaurant.
The only restaurant is open for breakfast only 7 to 10.00am.....US.$12 is the breakfast cost and it is a good deal for a hot, cold, buffet with western, asian food, fuit juices, breads and croissants.
Local Area
Kitahama Station is below the hotel, no train or street noise heard in our rooms. This is a business district not a shopping or entertainment destination. To get to Kyoto, take a limited express on the Keihan Line from Kitahama Station and exit at Gion Shijo Station, then take the city bus to your Kyoto Point of interest, takes just under an hour......take plenty of small coins for the buses. To get to Umeda, take a 5 to 7 minute walk to Yodabashi Station and Umeda is the next stop.

Location - excellent. Just above Exit 6 of Kitahama station on the Sakaisuji subway line. A few stops away from major stations and sights. Small eateries and cafes nearby. Right opposite Kitahama Plaza, with a supermarket in the basement.

Rooms - smallish but super clean, new and well equipped. Wifi signal was strong and required no sign-in.

Service - helpful staff despite limited English.

This hotel is close to an underground station - so rail would be an option depending on the time of arrival for your flight if you will not be on trains during morning or evening peak hour and do not have too much luggage. The hotel is directly connected to Kitahama Station on the Subway Sakaisuji Line. Or I would look up booking a minibus as taxis will not take 5 people, and managing your luggage on public transport may be difficult. Try Kansai airport transfer as a search term.
