Beautiful boutique hotel with superior hospitality. Everything is finely designed and authentic. Room is clean and tidy. Manager is relatively young but well-concerned and experienced. They know this neighborhood well and around there are various spots to look around, experience, eat and drink local. Also their balcony has great riverside view so, I defenitely recommend drinking/reading/napping outside on sunny day.
It was easy to access anywhere in Osaka, and even Kyoto with Keihan line. Hope to stay longer next time!

I booked the BOLY going to Osaka for a business trip by chance as the hotel that our partners recommended was fully booked. I turned out to be lucky since the hotel is small ( only 4 rooms per floor on 4 floors ) which is always nice and the rooms are large and well appointed with a modern touch. I would recommend booking a river view. I had a street view and it could be noisy at times (I do not mind the noise but I know many might ). The hotel is by the river and the view at breakfast made me want to take a walk by the riverside. All in all, next time I travel to Osaka, I will stay again at the Boly.

We splurged and got the biggest room and it was a great decision. The hotel is a converted old building but it is nice and modern inside. Our room was HUGE and it had a massive balcony. We thoroughly enjoyed that. It also had a mini kitchen . The staff were very nice and there is a rooftop bar, although we didn't really need to use it much since we already had a view from our balcony. The WiFi did not work on the balcony but was fine in the rest of the room. It is above a subway line but they give you earplugs which worked a treat for me. Big bonus is the washer and dryer that you can use for free! Really great hotel.

Absolutely poor wifi made this a frustrating stay. It worked only sporadically. The staff said they knew about it and said it was because a lot of guests used it. I have stayed at many larger hotels with wifi systems that were up to the guest usage demands. They need an upgrade. Communication with staff was difficult. The coffee in the room could not be used with the coffee maker they supplied.

We were so looking forward to visiting Osaka and staying at The Boly, unfortunately my travel partner had an injury and we needed to cancel our trip. Our trip was to visit Osaka and onward to the Kumano Kodo. We will reschedule at a date in the future.
I want to note that if you cancel your reservation and have paid in advance, the hotel is not able to refund directly to your original form of payment, your credit card. The hotel must go through a lengthy process to direct deposit funds to your bank account and in that process ask for and unduly amount of personal account information. Customer service was very friendly, but I finally gave up the funds I had paid in advance due to the amount of personal information the hotel was asking of me and for which was I not willing to share. I gave the information that was sufficient to transfer funds but that was still not acceptable. We were sorry to miss the lovely Boly experience, but unsure if we would book here again.

Thank you for the staff. They are caring and sensitive about we went to Japan for the first with 2 young children . I lost my bangle and they searched high and low for it . In the end I found it . They also recommended good breakfast places to go . We stayed comfortably here and also they gave complimentary champagne and orange juice for me and my kids . I will Côme back again to stay here. We were positively impressed by the spacious and light room, with a lovely little balcony on the river. The staff was kind and the location perfect. We really liked the design of the room and the amenities offered. The room was clean and the bed very comfortable

I really enjoyed this hotel. Good location. Nice rooms. Lovely quirky design touches. Lovely staff ( they were so nice and helpful it really made the experience). I would stay here again anytime. Bear in mind that it is quirky. It’s not a business hotel and it is not a family hotel (although my teenage son loved it). It is not the Hilton and about the Sir /Madam experience. It is its own place. Which I like.

We recently were in Japan for 2 weeks, and since my husband was at a conference in Osaka for the first several days, we chose the Boly for that time. Wow is all I can say!!! While most of the other people at the conference were stuck in a standard chain hotel, we were luxuriating in a Riverview Suite at the Boly for the same price. The room was absolutely lovely, with every amenity you could need (except an iron--which seems to be something you don't find in a hotel room in Japan, based on everywhere we stayed). The view from our room was so pretty, and it was pure pleasure to spend the mornings and evenings sitting on the balcony enjoying the river breeze.

The beds were comfortable, and the bathroom was large and well-stocked. We had a small fridge, a kitchenette, large desk area, tv, humidifier, A/C, hair dryer, coffee and tea making stuff, pajamas and robes. There was even a washer and dryer for free use (with detergent provided!) just down the hall (although the dryer took about 2 hours per load).

We also had a free breakfast in the small cafe next door each morning. It was one of our favorite parts of the day, since the place also had a patio on the river.

The hotel has a lovely rooftop area. We looked at it, but never used it, since our private balcony was so nice. It was located in a very convenient location for several subway lines, restaurants and shops.

We were sorry to leave--this hotel set a very high standard which was not surpassed by any other place we stayed for the rest of the trip. I would highly recommend it!

Dear Ms. Terri, Thank you very much for your gracious review! We are very happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us, and breakfast. The view from the room you stayed is one of the best river views in this area. Regarding an iron, we have them at the office, and we rent it upon request. We apologize for the inconvenience. We are looking forward to welcoming you again, on your next trip to Osaka!

We stayed one night; the hotel is not known by taxis, and entrance quite narrow. Musty smell outside rooms, but bed is very comfortable and long, high ceiling and bathroom very nice (modern sink and shower). Only issue is above subway so here train rumble at night and early morning. Also very comfortable pyjamas that can buy. It is newly renovated. Had we stayed several nights, the set breakfast with no fruits would have become old.

Dear Mr. Otto, Thank you very much for your review. Because our building is located right in front of the river, it may smell a bit especially when it is raining, or the day after.. We apologize for making you uncomfortable. We are glad that you liked the room, and pajamas; we are looking forward to welcoming you again!!
