I've stayed in several Japanese chains for business, but I knew I wanted a little more space, so I opted for Moxy b/c I knew what I would be getting. The spaces are small by American standards, but large by most other standards. The hotel was easy to get to with my large luggage from the train station, no more than a 7 minute walk.

Check-in was easy, and I was gladly upgraded to a queen sleeper, which was more than enough room. It had a desk chair, enough flat surfaces, and a collapsible table. The shower was large, and the amenities were as you needed them in the lobby, which I appreciated. As with all Japanese properties, nice pajamas and slippers were provided.

Breakfast is not included, but I opted for it as a Bonvoy Platinum member, and I was happy with the selection. It has a mix of western and Japanese foods, and there was good variety each day.. The lobby isn't too disruptive, and it's large and bright enough to stay out of the way of others lounging.

My room had enough light, and the location was great. It is right next to an izakaya that was very welcoming and offered an English menu, and the prices were great. I returned to the izakaya several times during my trip, and there are a lot of options nearby.

There are two train lines that serve the hotel, one is 5 minutes away, the other is about 10 minutes, but all are easy walks.

Probably one of the best and most modern hotels in osaka, the rooms are rather spacious which is rare for japan in general. the showers in the room must have been one of my favorite things there since it had just the perfect water pressure, which also is rather rare. the location was also just perfect! The staff is really nice.

This is a great hotel approximately a five minute walk from Sakaisuji Hommachi subway station. The room we had was large with a king size bed, blackout curtains and sound proofing so that we didn't hear any of the traffic or noise from outside. Good location for accessing Dotonburi and other tourist spots.

I say business hotel because the location is right in an commercial business area. My office is located within 3 minutes walk so it is very convenient. There is a Japan Coffeeshop chain just across the road. And a few Japanese style ‘drugstore’ where you can buy all kinds of cosmetics and healthcare products are dotted around the hotel. Even many local eateries with nice local food and experience.
The hotel is designed in a trendy fashion. Very fuss free and suitable for the DIY style traveller. The bathroom is well laid out. Not too small and with all the usual bathroom amenities.

We had a fabulous stay at Moxy Osaka Honmachi! Rooms are clean and modern while all staffs are friendly. We also love the location - close to 2 subway stations and tuck away from the main busy road. Their recognition and benefits to Marriott Elite are also excellent. Will definitely go back to this property again.

We stayed here for 6 nights when we were exploring Osaka and surrounds. I really enjoyed our stay at Moxy, the establishment was nicely presented, great facilities and, in a good location being close to two train lines. We had a Moxy sleeper room on the third floor with breakfast. I really like the style of the room, it is not a massive room and we did have to reshuffle a bit to fit our two big luggages onto the floor, opened, so we didn’t have to pack and repack everyday. The room is clean and well maintained. Even though we were on the third floor, I didn’t find it noisy at all, maybe because we were at the back of the hotel. The breakfast was nice and will fill you up and get you going before you head out for your adventures.
Overall I really enjoyed our stay at the Moxy Hommachi and would stay here again.

The Moxy Osaka is very comfortable and convenient. 24 hour gym and bar, a decent breakfast and feels like a slightly more hip business hotel. But don’t expect warm and inviting customer service. The staff here may as well not exist as they are not at all interested in engaging with you and do only the utmost basic- which an automated robot could do.

The hotel takes 10 minutes from the station. It is inconvenient to walk with a large baggage. Since the station only has stairs, when we arrive at the hotel, the hotel is very innovative!

When I arrived at the hotel to check in, it was a guy who helped us, but when the hotel checked in he needed to photocopy our passport for a lot of time, and the English was not very good. I only remember the staff is brown short hair with a cap.

And I don’t understand that there’s no name tag on staff uniforms, so I can’t clearly assist my staff’s name. Why I can saw all staff is wear the black T-shirt no name tag in their uniform.

When I arrived in the room, we found that our room was not equipped with slippers. I tried to call the front desk many times, but nobody answered the phone. I only can go to the lobby once again to check. When I fall to the lobby, I find that the lobby is not very busy, but the employees have been eating, drinking and having fun. Is this a group hotel staff attitude? Whether the hotel allows employees to be free style?

And the music in the hotel lobby is also very noisy!

I would not recommend staying in this hotel because the staff is not professional enough!

I am a fan of Marriott and Gold Elite member of the Marriott Rewards but have been getting more and more disappointed. First, after the emerging of Starwood and Marriott Rewards, the Gold membership benefit was downgraded, no more use of executive lounge! Now that I am staying at the Moxy these few days, my feeling is getting worse. Don't be fooled by the brand name, though Moxy goes a trendy style under the Marriott, it lacks the bare necessities that even a 3-star hotel should have - no refrigerator (but my friend who stay at a lower class room is provided with!); no decent table/desk; no sofa; no wardrobe; and no safe. Besides, if you need complete darkness for a good sleep, the curtain is a failure, and the intelligent night-light too, they are too bright and will wake your partner up and they will be on for more than thirty seconds.

Having said that, I give credit to the shower the water pressure of which is one of the best; the design of the toilet and the lighting of the room as a whole.

Nevertheless, don't stay at the Moxy if you want to enjoy hotel stay during the leisure trips!

Hey John L, Thanks for your comments; we are sorry our style and setup weren't the right vibe for you. We know that the Moxy experience isn't for everyone, but we hope you'll find something you love at one of the many awesome hotels in the Marriott world. When you enter the hotel, it had an open concept lobby with a small cafe on the side of the check in counter with a long table just by the entrance flanked by a sofa set on the left hand side of the entrance. As we were a group, we were checked in at the far end of the cafe where a small conference room was. There were 2 pitchers of juice and a couple of snacks ( popcorn and caramel pops) offered to us whilst we were checking in. Staff were cordial. Hotel was boutique type, hip and youngish feel. The color scheme was grey with splashes of pink all around. Even their sign was lighted pink. My room had a functional , IKEA ish feel to it. I feel like I was in New York. I loved it! It was small but everything was functional and didn’t feel boxed in. You had room to move around. Good for 2 people. The bathroom amenities were adequate and the containers for the shampoo, body wash and soap were pink! So young and fresh. The bathroom was very Urban and lots of black metal with pink accents thrown in in the form of the hair dryer, and amenities container. As I mentioned, it screamed chic, hip and young. Bed was twin sized and comfy. I took lots of pics of the room bec it was so different from all the hotels I’ve ever been. I like this hotel for just a short stay. Location wise, not so. It’s in a quiet part of Osaka. Lots of small little resto around it. Not much else. You need to walk a bit to get to the metro station, Honmachi station is about 20-25 minute walk away. I took it to go to Namba for all the shopping and food tripping needs. There was also a Seria 100 yen shop about 10-15 minute walk from the hotel. I was in heaven when I entered this shop. Quality of products were better than DAISO. There’s a huge supermarket called LIFE about 25-30 minutes walk away. Warning though, you will get lost a bit before you find these stores as the map provides by the hotel was confusing and not much help. I had to enter another hotel to ask for directions when I was getting lost trying to find the 100 yen shop on Moxy’s map. I also couldn’t understand the hotel’s map when I was trying to find the LIFE supermarket indicated on their map. It was a nice short stay though. You could just choose any of the Restos that are littered everywhere outside the hotel. Someone told me that the hotel’s breakfast was basic so it’s best to go out everytime when u need to have a meal. Sorrounding area is quiet and you will rest well in your room. No views outside your window so just close the curtains. Area is safe to walk around even at night. There’s lots of mini marts outside the hotel.
