I've stayed in Shinsaibashi before and know the area, last time before this stay was in 2017 and at the Nishitetsu Inn which is now called the APA, but I got a better deal for six days at the New Osaka budget hotel just around the corner and I definitely made a good choice. The location in Shinsaibashi is perfect and right near Shinsaibashi metro station and walking distance from main shopping district and Namba. The room I got was 712 on the 7th floor, I specifically wanted a quiet located room end of a corridor away from lifts on a high floor and I got it. Very comfortable and not actually a tiny single room as with a lot of Japanese budget hotels, the bathroom has a full size bathtub and was a good size and bed very comfortable. Also a refrigerator which is a bonus, but most Japanese hotel rooms have one. Housekeeping were great and offered to clean my room every day, but I didn't need it, so they left towels and necessary items in a bag outside my door. Teas and coffee is complimentary and available from the lobby 24 hours. I didn't have breakfast at the hotel's restaurant as there so many nice cafes to go to in the area and there is a 24 hour open Lawson convenience store/mini supermarket around the corner one way and a similar Family Mart store the other way around the back. I didn't encounter any problems with this hotel at all, only that the chair by the desk in my room had a loose screw and the leg broke after I sat on it, but it felt wobbly, one of the hotel staff replaced it right away with a good chair. Staff speak limited English at reception, but they understood most of what I said and were helpful and very friendly. Check out time is 11am as with most hotels, it's an additional fee to stay later. This hotel aims at business people wanting cheap basic accommodation and tourists who don't need extra facilities as there are no leisure facilities, spa or gym. Drinks vending machines are on every floor and smoking rooms are available if requested. I will definitely stay here when I return to Osaka, just hopefully no broken chairs in my room, but it wasn't a problem. The shampoo and conditioner they had in the bathroom was very good quality, the shower gel made the best bubble bath, too!

You are 3 stops from Umeda and one stop away from Namba. Osaka is basically North or South. The hotel has so much movement but have very accommodating staff. We always have to keep checking for availability. Rooms are not too small so it’s great.

I hated that the walls must've been so thin, because in the mornings I was woken up by families yelling to their kids at 7-8am very easily. I was also kept up sometimes in the evenings by the same thing. It was annoying and woke me up but i was able to fall back asleep. The location of the hotel was great. Right near the main shopping street and cool area of Minami. The hotel room wasn't huge but a good size for Japan and of course it was clean.

Attracted to me is their single girls' floor, which made me feel very safe to travel alone.
Also it is very conveniently located, just 5 minutes to the train station and a very popular shopping district, Shinsaibashi.
Highlight recommended for single girls.

We booked 3 twin rooms for 3 nights. The hotel itself is located on a quiet street and is a 3 minute walk from Shinsaibashi Station, just behind Hotel Nikko. The staff was courteous and efficient. The rooms were small, but very clean. There is a mini fridge, hairdryer and the usual bathroom amenities. There is also wired internet in the room.
With regard to location, America Mura, Dotonburi and Shainsaibashi Shopping Arcade are all within walking distance. There is a Lawson's convenience store just around the corner and Family Mart and a 24 hour McDonald's are 2-3 short blocks away.
Overall, the hotel was perfectly suited for our needs and would definitely stay there again.
Tip: Ask for the hotel's business card if you plan to take taxis and be sure to pick up a free copy of the Osaka map in the lobby. The map is very detailed and was of tremendous help to us.

This is a very nice hotel in a great location just a few metres from the main shopping street. The hotel has a lovely, helpful staff. The room was nice, plenty of space for one person and suitcase, the bed was comfortable, the room and bathroom clean and had all the usual amenities including toiletries. The breakfast was included and was OK. The subway is nearby and there are plenty of shops. There's a nice walk along the river close by. Would recommend and stay here again.

I stayed at this hotel with a friend for the spring break holiday on March. The room came out to around 12,500 per person for three nights, which was an awesome steal for budget travels. Especially being in the center of Shinsaibashi.

Hotel itself is your basic Japanese hotel, though it is a bit dated, such as keys being the old school ones, which causes for some slight inconveniences when you wanna travel by yourself and do your own thing for an hour or two.

Our room had more of a business hotel feel to it. Barebones minimums which would probably explain the price. But the view of Amemura and its quirky buildings made up for the otherwise lackluster room. I wish there was a little bit more to the room, perhaps coffee or tea? Which is found in every other hotel.

Another plus, and this being more of a personal one, is that the hotel is located in front of the Johnny's store, a small shop that sells pictures of Japanese male idols. Being so close to the store enabled me and my friend to shop with ease.

The only incident we had was that the air conditioner broke. The staff really didn't know what to do. So we were without AC for three days. They only gave a breakfast vochure for the inconvenience but I think they should have just moved our rooms. The handling of this situation is why this hotel is getting this rating.

If I had to rank the hotels I go to this hotel would be ranked:

1. The B Akasaka
2. Shinagawa Prince
3. New Osaka Hotel/Keiou Plaza Hotel
4. Toyoko Inn

TLDR
+great location
+friendly staff
+decent prices

-mishandling of incident
-a bit too dated

This hotel was in the perfect spot for me. it was reasonably priced and close to all the places I wanted to walk on my couple of days in Osaka. I had been to Osaka before, and this time I was on my own with specific places I wanted to visit and see. The hotel is very close to America Mura, Shinsaibashi, Dotonburi and a huge wholesale market. There are plenty of great places to eat, shop and walk. I loved soaking up the night atmosphere of the lively little Osaka streets in this area! I caught a taxi from the Namba station, and we drove round and round the honeycomb of narrow streets and alleys before he found the hotel (although he turned off his meter) and I have to say, it was really fun! it is however very easy to find, right behind the well known Hotel Nikko.
The hotel itself has seen better days and my room was fairly lacking in Japanese charm. it wasn't tiny like a business hotel, or spacious either. It was OK. The staff were pleasant and gave me a good map. The price was very reasonable. I ate breakfast in the restaurant only because there was nothing else open, but probably wouldn't eat there again. Nothing wrong, there's just so much better to be had in Osaka!
The best things about this hotel were it's fabulous location right in America Mura with lots of great things to see and places to go, and its cost.
It was really hot during my stay, so the convenient drink vending machines in the hotel were very much appreciated for an icy cold beer!

I stayed at the New Osaka Hotel in January 2013. Arriving at Osaka Kansai airport it is about a 45-60 minute train ride into Osaka and to the hotel depending on the time of day. From Kasai airport you will take the airport rail to the end of the line. Then connect to the subway red line and go one more stop to Shinsaibashi station, the hotel is a 3 minute walk from Shinsaibashi station. You can take a taxi however I did not and took the train system for $8 USD. The hotel is in a nice neighborhood with some restaurants and bars in the area. Reception was friendly during check in, I booked a single room, the price was very reasonable about $70 USD per night. The rooms are small, clean, and has your own bathroom. The hotel offers free Wi-Fi in the lobby, signal cannot reach to the rooms. I was pleased with the the price I paid for what I received. The hotel is one subway stop from the Dotonbori and Namba area of Osaka which has the shopping, restaurants, and bars. If I come back to Osaka I would stay at the New Osaka Hotel Shinsaibashi again.

I strongly recommend this hotel. Situated in the heart of downtown Osaka very close to the most upmarket area. Dior, Chanel, Louis Vitton, Armani and Osaka's answer to Harrods are all five minutes walk away. The surrounding streets buzz with vibrant little shops and bars - (try nearby `Slices` for the great international food and the extensive cocktail list... and the lovely the lovely Canadian owners). The area is very safe and close to transport links.

The hotel is spotlessly clean and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. The bed was incredible. The staff and managers are all lovely and couldn`t be more helpful and pleasant.

There is a lovely open cafe at the front of the hotel that sells great coffee and food with a spanish theme.

Prices are very reasonable compared to similar hotels of the same quality in the area. Beware, cheaper usually means smaller here and if you aren`t compact yourself the small rooms here can be a real squeeze.

I suggest you checking for whether they have any family rooms. The hotel room for 2 people may not be large enough to add an extra bed. Besides, the bed is just fit for 2 adults (slim ones).
