we had a weekend "without kids" staying at Benjor our first time without them for a very very long time. It was fantastic. The rooms were lovely, the views out to the bay amazing and the staff awesome!! We loved that it was out of town very quiet and relaxing. Happy hour at the bar ($5.00 cocktails!! yummy) turned into a few "happy hours!!. We did go into town for 1 meal but it was nothing compared to what we had eaten at the restaurant. We are booking again for nov/dec but alas must take the kids!!

We stayed there first as a stopover when we arrived in the country, and were to return for a few more nights after a couple of weeks of outer-island-hopping and sightseeing. We loved it so much, we cancelled a 2-night stay at another place just so we could relax some more at Benjor.
Communication was always excellent, and Miranda (owner) was very helpful when we had flight woes and had to switch dates, and was genuinely lovely all the time. Thanks Miranda! You're a gem.
The restaurant was awesome, and everytime we planned to go in to town for dinner, we just decided to stay at Benjor because the food and atmosphere and service was so good. I can't fault the service, they always make you feel special (thanks Fred). And the chefs are a credit to Benjor and themselves, very talented. The steak is a must.
The rooms are nearly new and nicely furnished, quite welcome if you've come from the outer islands. Comfy bed! Nice views from every room.
Overall, a great place to finish off our Vanuatu experience.
We'll be back

The moment we arrived at the lovely welcoming Benjor beach resort we were welcomed with a delicious fruit punch in the restaurant overlooking the beautiful mele bay. It is our first overseas holidays as a family, my husband and myself both travel as children with our families but this was our first as adults. I was looking for a place to accomodate myself and husband and my daughter and her friend so we were looking for a 2 bedroom place on the interent and i came accross the BENJOR RESORT and thought how nice it looked etc so I decided to invite my brother inlaw and mother inlaw along and that when we decided to get the 5 bedroom house at BENJOR. YES five bedroom - so you can have up to 10/12 people sleeping in this great house. The house is very modern with own full kitchen. It has two bathrooms (one an ensuite), and heaps of room. The view is just gorgeous we had our own back yard over looking Mele bay. We also had fruit platter and wine in the house when we arrived and flowers everywhere is was soo pretty. The New pool which lookes over the bay isn't too far away either the girls had a ball swiming. You can also snorkel just on the front of BENJOR. The Benjor resort also offers 2 onebedroom villas and 2 loft style spa villas. All very nice and with terrific views. We ate in the resturant 6 out of the 7 night we stayed and the food was just gorgoeus very well presented and meat just melts in your mouth the quality of the food is so fresh top quality! Hint try the chocolate souffle" YUMMMMMY! Can't forget about the cocktail half price happy hour on sat, tues, thurs if i remember right 5 til 7pm and let me tell you they are delicous and you have so many to choice from my favourite was ISLAND DREAMER. Breakfast in the morning was so peaceful , heaps to choose from sitting on the deck with the views what a way to sat your day. , you can see the menu on the Benjor web site and the staff , Now i can't say enough about the wonderful staff they were so welcoming and so friendly nothing was a bother always there to help. Just 5 min walk up the road you can get on 1 hr massage on the beach for $25 australian and cascade water falls is also not far from the Benjor and a 15min bus ride to town makes it an ideal spot to stay. Tara beach not far from Benjor is another place to eat and they do melensian feast and live music good value. NOW if your thinking of going to Vanuatu trust me BENJOR is a great place, Very clean, Very Nice, Very friendly, Fabulous views and most of all RELAXING! Enjoy i know we did! We'll be back maybe with out the kids hehehehehe.! Next time a romantic time away seeming i had the motherinlaw and the kids this time. as they say in french Au revoir!

Hi All, I have just returned from a week in Vanuatu on the island Efate (main island), My family and myself (6) stayed at the Benjor Beach Club which is on Devils Point Road, near the Mele Village. To say I had a great time would be an understatement, the accomodation was excellent as we stayed in the large house big enough for 10 people with all modern comforts such as TV, DVD, fully self contained kitchen, washing machine and clothes dryer. The house was serviced daily by a lovely local lady. The house was approx. 250 meters from the main receiption area which is also where the restaurant is. We went out daily but ate breakfast and dinners there, the food selection was very good, but the staff (all locals) was what kept us eating there, Especially 3 of the workers, Kela, Joelyn and Morsen, great with a joke and excellent knowledge of the island, they also organised days trips for us and even invited us to visit there village and where they live, well and truely above and beyond, but that is the feel of the place, so friendly. You and your children are perfectly safe with walking anywhere around the island as every person stops and says hello to you. A good tip is to talk to locals and ask them what tours to go on. I think we had a better time due to this and also from NOT staying in a 500 room resort, We all wanted a tropical holiday but not one in a resort as you can do the same on Queensland's Gold Coast, so satying at the Benjor Beach Club was more personal service and more one on one with locals. The Benjor Beach Club is only 2 kilometers from the Mele VIllage. One more thing, if you stay at Benjor Beach Club make sure to get JOHNNY (the van/bus driver) great local guy who will look after the transportation and we all become good friends.

I was lucky enough to spend my first time on a tropical island at friendly and beautiful Benjor Resort, an amazing ocean front property offering great snorkelling and beaches perfect for relaxing in the sun. My girlfriend and I stayed in one of their one bedroom villas with a stunning view of the ocean from the balcony over coffee in the morning or an evening drink. The room itself was very comfortable, tiled floors adding a welcome touch of coolness in the warm evenings. Having a fridge in the room meant that the fresh fruit we bought in the Port Vila markets was always cold and inviting (not to mention the local "Tusker" beer brewed just down the road). The staff were so friendly and welcoming, always ready to help and the food and drinks menu at the restaurant left us very satisfied. Morning snorkelling (at least as good as elsewhere on the island) followed by a stroll around the property amongst the pawpaw and coconut trees was a magic way to start the day and one of my favourite aspects of our stay. Snorkelling gear is available for use at reception if you don't have your own. The local wildlife was fascinating too; flying foxes swooping at dusk, hermit crabs of all sizes revealing themselves to the patient observer on the beach, and sneaky geckoes spying form the walls. Don't worry though, there are no poisonous land animals in Vanuatu. I definately recommend this piece of paradise.

Our week in Vanuatu was to be our first week away from our business in about 18 months, so it was an understatement to say we were looking forward to it. A process of careful selection using this site and the accommodations own web sites, led to us picking Benjor.
Yes it's a great spot overlooking Mele Bay. It has a great sense of space and is really quiet and relaxing and the staff, in particular Morsen, Fred and Sandrine are wonderful. The food was of a good standard, and the service of a high quality
Unfortunately we did not think it quite merited the rave reviews for a few reasons. Firstly the spa villa we stayed in was very basically furnished and could be described as uncomfortable. All the curtains needed urgent replacement, as did the shower head. We also thought that the general upkeep of the grounds must have slipped judging by previous accounts, as the grass was long and untidy and leaves gradually built up by the end of our week. This may have been a result of being in the middle of the wet season but it wasn't that wet.
Also, the swimming pool is certainly not an 'infinity' pool as described and is not in the best condition due to a fault with the painting.
Perhaps the most disappointing thing about Benjor was the distance from Port Vila (about 20 minutes). Although its easy to call a bus from reception, it was very difficult to get a reliable service on the way back, with the drivers wanting to charge a lot more than the outward leg. This meant that we could not risk going into town in the evening just in case we could not get back.
Despite these problems we still enjoyed our stay as it was exceptionally relaxing and just what we needed to replenish ourselves.

We have just come back from a sensational trip to Vanuatu - it was a last minute decision due to the problems in Fiji where we had originally booked. I am so pleased we changed. Vanuatu is simply beautiful - truly an untouched paradise as it is described. The people are delightful and the staff at Benjor were particularly outstanding - always ready to help and to explain local traditions. Part of our deal was that we had to have at least two meals in the Resort's main restaurant (we got a great last minute special but contacting them direct on their website) - the food was so great that we actually ate all our meeals there except for a visit to town and dinner at Chantillies (also very good food). All the accommodation is villa style and ocean front. I also know they have larger self contained Villas for groups which would be fun for a whole lot of friends or family. Anyway - I have not problems in recommending Benjor. keep up the good work David and Jane.

We have just returned from a wonderful holiday to Vanuatu, staying at the Benjor Beach Club.
Vanuatu is a beautiful place, everyone has a smile on their face and everyone is friendly, eveyone will talk to you and wave as you pass them by in the street.
Firstly can i say how beautiful the Benjor resort is, congratulations to Greg and Miranda !! The setting, the accomodation, the facilities and the amazing scenery across Mele Bay to Vila are paradise. The managers at Benjor, David and Jane are amazing hosts and Fred, Morsen Sandrine and the rest of the staff are fabulous. Even the 2 dogs make you feel welcome ! The service and atmosphere was great and makes Benjor what it is.
Fred knows anything about everything about Vanuatu and will help you organise and advise you on all the best excursions and places to visit - Just ask him about the Banks Islands and Morsen about Efate
This resort if totally away from the main hustle and bustle of Vila centre - its secluded and idilic for a quiet holiday and set on 26 acres, each of the 10 villas with plenty of privacy, waterfront views across the bay, each with private courtyard facilities.
Benjor has plenty to offer both families and couples, we stayed in Spa Villa 1, with a Mezzanine level and kitchen \ spa facilites, which was lovely. It was cleaned every day with fresh flowers left in the villa daily - which was a lovely touch.
You can snorkel off any of the 4 private beaches at the resort - when the water is calm, its great.
There is putput, a driving range, tennis court, swimming pool and boules court and volleyball facilities on offer. Maybe even drag out the Glass bottomed Kayak to take out if your feeling energetic !
I'd agree with the others in that the food at Benjor was the best we had in our 10 days in Vanuatu - we ate out for lunches and some dinners in Vila, but nothing came close to the food on offer. The chef was fabulous - the fresh fruit - especially the pineapples were lovely & for dinner i'd highly recommend the "KICK ---" curry and the T-bone steak.... enjor all your dinners here with the fresh evening breeze and sounds of water and the geckos your only distraction.
Thank-you to all at Benjor for the best holiday and we will definately be back for a visit soon !
Tips for Vanuatu -
Must dos are the Cascades \ Island Tour \ Coongoola Cruise \ Snorkelling off Hideaway and Irriki Islands \ Melensian feast at either Tara or Le Meridien \ see fred for the Banks Island dancers !
Go to Tanna to the volcano - its simply the most amazing expereince when its firing.
Watch out for the taxi drivers ! they try to rip everyone off - use the local buses whenever you can.
Steer clear of the town when the cruise ships are in.
Dont expect things to be done in a hurry & enjoy a cold Tusker and maybe a Kava or two (if your game) !

I have been to Benjor previously about 4 years ago when it was quite new and enjoyed my stay so much then that when the opportunity came up to travel with my boyfriend this year, Benjor was the first place we thought of. My boyfriend has never been to an island before and from the moment we walked off the plane into the warm air of Port Vila, he was smitten. We arrived at the resort after being picked up by a driver and van sent from them, to receive the best tasting welcome fruit juice ever!. We stayed in a one bedroom villa and it was beatuifully laid out with fresh flowers and a fruit platter waiting for us. We had this on the private balconey, looking out over the grounds and sea. We had breakfast, lunch and dinners at the resturant through out our stay and made good use of the "happy hour" to try out the cocktail list. The food was really lovely, great to taste local produce. I loved the vanilla bean sauce and there was plenty to temp my vegetarian lad. The homemade pasta was fantastic and I have to beg anyone who stays and likes a good steak to try the beef - it melts in the mouth and was out of this world! The staff were so friendly and a lovely touch were the Kumala chips bought to us when we were enjoying the view and a drink. We also fell in love with the local coffee provided daily in our villa and bought some to take home. We felt like we had the place to ourselves and the large expansive grounds are beautiful. I got my hair braided one day and the Benjor staff arranged a local girl to come to me and she did the most amazing job while I was able to sit on the balconey and enjoy the veiw. This really was going the extra mile. I know that a pool has been finished now and the photos on the website are gorgeous. I can't wait to get back there and swim in it!!. We snorkelled off the beach and it was as good as any other spots around the island but right there on our doorstep. Also just minutes away were the Mele Cascades - just amazing!! I really recommend staying at Benjor if you get the chance. My best friends are having their honeymoon there....I wonder if they will mind us tagging along??????

We travelled to Benjor with our two year old which can be stressful. The facilities and staff made it a trip to rave about. We stayed in one of the houses so that we could cook for and put our daughter to bed when we needed to. The house we stayed in (at the far end of the resort) was spacious and well appointed, We had our own beach which was private and safe to paddle and swim, but the swimming pool is fantastic so we got the best of both worlds. The grounds are huge and there is heaps of room for kids to run around.
The staff are so fantastic that I felt confortable leaving my daughter with them while my husband and I went over to the Officers Club for dinner. The fillet steak is one I dream about now and the position of the resturant is second to none, truely a spot for romantics!
Being close to to the airport and Casade Falls (a must visit spot) it is close to Villa and transport is easy, this is the only place I would stay in Vanuatu when I return, which I surely will. We had a look at the other units and they were fantastic too.

I recommend you email Benjor direct regarding breakfast inclusions as they often change for promotion purpose. There are no roadside markets in walking distance. There are many along the road into town and large one in town. All fruit and vegetables are reasonably priced and organic. I hope this helps you. Tropical Regards. Terry.
For memory it was $40.00 Aus for the two of us, but if you ask Fred at Benjor because it was included with our accommodation package. Enjoy your stay :)

To be honest I can't remember the number of the villa we stayed in but it was a studio unit with bathroom and I'm sure they're all good. We had a view of the ocean from our deck. We were there in September and had a lovely time swimming and snorkelling and touring about. Kelly and Kandy are great with suggestions and organising things.
There are more places to choose from in the Mele Maat area.
