Came here to watch a game. Ended up sitting out the back in the semi open dining area. The key takeaway was a very grumpy waitress, who looked like she didn’t want to be there. It was a bit off mourning.Interesting watching her interact with customers. There was also a very impatient young woman at the front bar. Not an amazing range of beer - very mass market. Food we got was average, plus observed others nearby - steak and burger in particular looked tough.

Ahhh yes...'The Palace' has come along way from rough old wharfie / Gas days of the late 1940's early 1950's where legend has it that a naive visiting Japanese merchant sailor was caught in the wrong place at the wrong time and was actually murdered in the front bar by a irate returned POW after the war!! True story...
Thankfully these days the Palace is swank and full of charm. Big TV sport screens, great pub grub, Good pokies & TAB set up ( if that's your get up ) and fantastic beers on tap. Long or short accommodation is available. The Palace still has that 'Aussie' style pub look and has not gone down the stupid Irish pub set like many other Sydney pubs have adopted over the years. Good staff and the pub has great atmosphere. The Palace is traditionally a locals pub however it has always had that friendly welcoming vibe to all visitors.

This pub is our local and offers a good menu which changes seasonally although the blackboard specials seem to stay the same. Not that I am complaining as the salmon special is really good and my go to choice most of the time.
The steaks are either really, really good or average just luck of the draw which can be disappointing when their meat comes from their own farm. Sausages and mash are hearty and tasty as are the meatballs. The fish and chips are popular and a large serve. Their hot chips are great!
It's a great local pub with a good menu with something for everyone.
They have trivia nights, raffles and discount meal days. They are very community minded and in the ten years we have lived in the area they have made great improvements to the pub.
There is only disabled access to the front bar currently but apparently upcoming renovations will rectify this and will hopefully include an accessible toilet. You can order from the menu and eat in the bar and I'm sure the lovely staff would assist you if needed.

Went there on Wednesday 24th march 2021 in a party of 8 men. Drinks in the bar before and after our meal was great but the staff in the restaurant were nothing but rude and argumentative. Firstly it was a problem to put 8 orders on on table number and each person was given a separate number. Meals arrived in 2 lots of four 10 minutes apart. had to wait or let meal go cold, luckily I ordered a salad. The last 2 meals served were supposed to be the special of the day Corned Beef but the waitress had 1 C/Beef and 1 Irish Stew. We informed her of the mistake and she stood and argued that's what we ordered. Then went away and returned with the Kitchen Ticket, waiving it in our face saying that's what you ordered and that's what you get, I'm busy. The majority of the meals were good but the corned beef and Banga's and mash were ordinary and dry. We also complained about the smell of smoke coming in from outside but then realised a man at another table was Vaping inside the restaurant. Wont go here again.

I have visited this hotel on previous occasions & found the food OK but have noticed that recently the quality of the food has deteriorated & is very poor at present.
I had lunch with a friend today & both the meals were extremely poor.
My friends chicken schnitzel was very small and dry & I would rate the crab cakes that I had as the worst meal I have ever had.
They had excessive hard crumb & the so called crab meat was horrible to the point that I I could not eat them.
I told the chef but he did not seem to care.

Eating food there in the outdoor restaurant My wife and kids had to breathe in Cigarette smoke from smokers in the beer garden downstairs. A health hazard.

Beer garden not suitable for kids. Too many hazards for kids.

Staff are friendly.

As an adult, I came with my friend who is under 18 to have lunch, she remained in the outdoor seating area and tried to order food but was turned down as she was not with a ‘responsible adult’. Apparently you turn 18 and are not considered ‘responsible’ so please what is considered responsible? The issue is that I have come here plenty of times before with underage people and I was underage myself once, and I was able to eat considering I was not in the bar area. So I think the management here should ensure everyone is doing their job because clearly some people aren’t, considering I’ve been allowed to eat plenty of times before yet all of a sudden it’s an issue. Ps. Concord hotel is better :)

Stumbled upon The Palace Hotel when out doing clean up Australia duties.

So glad we did.
The beer is cold, and plenty of selections. Great wine list as well.

Great old pub with a lot of history. Great bistro menu, or BBQ seafood cooked downstairs in the beer garden.

Not cheap, but a great feed, that's for sure.

If you do go for the BBQ seafood, best to get in early, but they do not start taking orders until 12 noon, and the payment is cash only in the beer garden where they cook.

The desserts are awesome.

Well worth the visit.

We have been coming to this pub for some time and always thoroughly enjoyed our meal from the bistro until our last visit. Our family arrived hungry and looking forward to another great dinner. Sadly we never got it. For a bistro that wasn't busy it took 50 minutes for our garlic bread to arrive (and that was after asking where it was) and it was warm bread with garlic butter on it. Ten minutes later our meal arrived, 2 chicken dishes and a steak meal both with salad and chips. The lettuce in the salads had large clumps from the centre of the lettuce which was a turn off. We enquired if there was a new chef and was told the hotel had taken over the kitchen now. Why change a place that pulled the people in for the atmosphere and great food. This now explains why it was so easy to get a booking in a place that is normally so difficult to get a table.

This hotels restaurant could be so much better
Great venue let down firstly by the grumpy lady on arrival who shows so much indiferance and needs to learn how to smile
The decor in the restaurant needs a make over
The food was pretty boring and could do with a little more imagination and seasoning
