We arrived at the hotel at 12.30 so didn't expect our room to be ready, however it was. The hotel is small and stylish with real attention to detail. It has only 10 rooms. Our room was close to the river overlooking the hot springs where the local people come to bathe and do their washing. There was a balcony to watch the river. Inside the room was large and decorated in dark colours. there was an enormous bath and powerful shower. The bed was large with comfortable pillows. There was no fridge in the room but if you ordered a drink at the bar it was brought to your room for no extra charge To access the swimming pool on an island in the middle of the river you walk over a rope bridge which swings as you walk to the beautiful pool. The pool is an infinity pool with dark tiles so it blends in with the surrounding scenery. Beds at the pool were comfortable and iced water was brought round. People tended to eat early in the hotel. There was a set menu but the hotel substituted anything you didn't like. Bottles of wine were available. In the morning breakfast was a la carte and there was a wide range of choices. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend the hotel

Benjamin and Whitney have only just taken over managing Muang La Lodge and have lots of great ideas but there is so much that is already perfect. Their five course tasting menus each night were the best food we ate in our whole trip; the pool on the island across the rope suspension bridge was perfect at the end of a day with the hill tribes or trekking and watching the monks wander down to use the hot springs and the locals come and bathe and wash in the warm river made you feel part of a community. It is SO worth the journey:stay at least 3 nights

Had a lovely time at Muang La lodge. Benjamin and Whitney (the managers) were fabulous hosts, the staff are excellent and the food was amazing. The pool area is nice overlooking the river, you can watch the local people bathing in the river (along with the odd stray buffalo!) The young man looking after the pool bar was especially friendly. We were fascinated by the natural hot springs; the Lodge also pipe and filter the spring water into tubs for guests to enjoy. The water is really hot and we did feel invigorated after relaxing in the tub. We really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend the Muang La

As long as you’re not wanting anything flashy this hotel fulfils your every need. Firstly the massage was one of the best I have ever had, I have joint problems and the masseuse knew exactly what to do even with the language barrier. The pool area is attractive and comfortable and our bedroom had all the little touches that makes it a first class hotel. However the staff are what makes it extra special as they are unfailingly helpful, with the two chefs Mmm Ankham and Mmm Path taking the top spot. The food was true gourmet, as good or better than the top restaurants in London. I could not recommend this hotel more highly, it’s a pity that the email I have just been sent was addressed to myself and my husband when I don’t have one and was travelling with a girlfriend! However a small blip for a brilliant stay.

Dear Caroline, Thank you for your lovely review here. We had a nice time hosting you and your girlfriend, and we agree with you! Our staff is really what makes our property special. Over 90 percent of our staff come from the local village, and they are always happy to share a bit of the local lifestyle and Lao hospitality with our guests. Please excuse the small hiccup in our email communication! We hope the rest of your travels are marvelous.

We stayed 3 nights at this very peaceful riverside hotel in Laos. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The young managers, Whitney and Ben were particularly welcoming. The rooms are large and comfortable, although we did have a short electricity power cut one night it was quickly fixed. It was fascinating to see the local people coming down to the hot springs in the river to bathe and to do their washing. We had a lively guided walk through the local farms and the village. A very unspoilt part of Laos, worth visiting, although it is quite a long drive from Luang Prabang.

Dear Stella, We loved hosting you and Ian here for a special Valentine's day dinner in our garden sala. It was a pleasure to hear about the rest of your travels in Laos and your impression of the local villages you visited on your activities with us. The charm of this place comes from its remote location, with the added magic of our hot springs and our integration with the local community. We are so happy that you made the journey here to experience the true, authentic culture of Laos with us.
