What a lovely hotel and with delightful managers Simon and Kiyomi. We stayed for two nights, my wife and I and our adult daughter so the suite was just perfect with two bedrooms, a sitting room with adequate kitchen facilities and a balcony overlooking the water. The hosts are unassuming but really helpful if needed. One delightful touch was Kiyomi...

This tiny old hotel was a real find for us. The town of Mangonui in New Zealand's North was fabulous. Beautifully renovated, with modern tasteful fittings this little historic hotel was a real gem. We chose the loveliest room upstairs on the corner with a wrap around verandah. It was called the Ponga. It gave us a lovely view of...

We loved the place! The fantastic old building combined with beautiful modern decor and great attention to detail was just perfect for us. We stayed in the Ponga suite which had a lovely sitting room separate to the bedroom and a wrap around balcony, as well as a little kitchen area where we were able to prepare our breakfasts and...

Stayed one nite on the way up North, what a lovely place to stay. Building had heaps of character and very quiet and peaceful dispite room being next to road frontage. We were upgraded to the Pohutukawa room which was modern and fresh, with its own kitchen and large bathroom. Super comfy bed!! Separate entrance and veiw to harbour. Loved...

Fabulously restored hotel with huge suites and excellent facilities. Hosts are very friendly and knowledgable on local attractions sending us on an excellent hike to lane cove and to excellent places for dinner. Good spot to base yourselves for travel in the top end of north island

Beautifully restored 1860s treasure built by a boat builder who obviously knew his stuff. We were very happy in a garden room and the lovely bathroom boasted an original fireplace, sadly, no longer functional. On our first morning we were surprised and delighted to see a pod of orcas swim into the bay right in front of us. They frolicked...

Delightful old hotel with excellent views out across the water in a pretty sea-side village. Beautifully restored and Simon and Kiro were extremely helpful and nice. Great value for money as well. Definitely go there.

This is a fabulous place to stay and great value for money. We had the Ruru room which overlooked the harbour. It was a 2 bedroom suite and was well appointed and spacious. The bed was so comfortable. It was located at the southern end of town but only a short walk around the bend to the restaurants, etc. would...

We booked one night at this hotel and what a little beauty it is. We were upgraded to the Pohutakawa Suite and it was delightful. Spotlessly clean and so so comfortable. Just what we needed after a five hour drive. The hosts Simon & Kiyo are lovely people and very helpful. We will definitely be staying there again.
