A thoroughly disappointing experience. I reserved the Percy French suite and requested dinner for the 2 nights. We live in Argentina and my Argentine girlfriend has falling in love with Irish castles. So this was her surprise birthday treat. I should have realized at the time of booking that the establishment is run by incompetents. I was asked to phone...

This was our second time at Castlecoote. The first time we liked it so much that we brought a group of 5 plus ourselves. It is the feeling of a modernized castle. The bedding is plush. The breakfast was plentiful. The tea and scones on china afternoon tea was very welcoming. We found several books and articles of interesting reading....

My wife and I just had a week driving around Ireland and staying for the most part in B&Bs but we finished the trip with two nights at Castlecoote House. It was certainly the highlight of our trip in terms of accommodation. First, the comforts. We stayed in the gorgeous Percy French suite and it is the largest room in...

Having first discovered Castlecoote as a derelict building with no roof and totally uninhabitable back in the early 1990's. My wife and have visited many times since including and this year to have a guided tour of the finished house and grounds. We took some of our close family back last year as this is location is of special significance...

This house is brilliant for a day trip to not just to stay. There is a ruined castle in the grounds which kids can climb over and into, its on the banks of the river, so pink fishing net at the ready, with an orchard that is ready to explore. The kids loved messing about for a good couple of...

This house is not to be missed and has been lovingly restored to its former glory. The bedrooms are beautifully decorated. We stayed in the Gunning room, which was spacious and had a four poster bed. Our friends stayed in the Percy French room which was even more stunning with one of the most luxurious bathrooms we have seen on...

We stayed over a weekend in June 2008 and enjoyed a quiet and relaxed weekend. Our expectations of this type of place have been fully met at Castlecoote House. We stayed in the Percy French Suite, the largest room in the house with second bedroom and spacious bathroom. Room is very large, clean (as is the entire house) and has...

The house is situated about 15 minutes drive outside of Roscommon on the site of a former medieval castle. Some of the old fortifications are incorporated into the current house, a restored Georgian mansion, built from the ruins of the castle. The owner has spared no expense in the restorations. The house is absolutely magnificent. We stayed in the Percy...

“Each of the rooms has different advantages. Take your pick. Ask about bathrooms. Some are ensuite. Schedule well in advance. Also, schedule your time of arrival so someone will know what time to open the door for you. Security is great. You need to open a couple of gates. Just go!”
